It instantly bluescreened my comp. I assume it's not intentional then. haha sorry about that, maybe my laptop is just screwed up.

Wooh! Go Lenin! Full Women's Rights. No nation can claim such equality, such vision! To fully recognize the obvious similarities of the sex, just stunning.

All hopes for glory and success with this new coalition!

Definately not intentional, but it's weird that that happened. It was just two short youtube-clips, the first one footage of Lenin stroking a cat and the second one a clip from the Simpsons where Lenin rises from his glass box like a zombie going "must crush capitalism"...

I for one is not surprised Lenin chose Tyranny and allied himself with the militarists. They support his aims to expand his empire anyway. The revolution is failing, while I applaud that women finally take their place in the proletariat as equal to their male counterparts, there's something very rotten in the soul of our republic. It has become to institutionalized, too much controlled by the elite. That's how power hungry politicians like Lenin can rise in the first place. The creation of a free socialist commune is threatened by this elite, who want to continue to expand their control.

This is crazy. The republic has never been more free and vivid than now. Social and political rights have been expanded every 5 years for decades. Not only have rights for women finally been extended: the worker's vote, the assembly, private press, not to mention safety regulations, pensions, healthcare, unemployment benefits and workday regulations. Lenin was elected Chairman in a democratic process both within and outside the party. How could this be tyranny and ruling elite? Lenin hasn't even been in our republic for more than a couple of years - that's hardly a member of any entrenched elite, is it?

I am quite worried about the rise of Lenin, even though i see it as a result of the United Fronts unwillingness to make social reforms - as i set earlier it would be possible to raise the min. wage and reduce work hours without expanding the state.

Sigh I guess I have to find a new party but as a moderate syndicalist i am quite homeless, since i cant handle the primitivist violent vibe that is to profound amongs the anarchist block...

But he's already working the corrupt apparatus to make himself ruler. I do hold the United Front responsible for this. They were the ones creating this system after all, and set the scene for Lenin. For the revolution to be succesful we need less centralizing and a much smaller government. The revolution must come from the bottom, not from the top. Lenin want to create an empire, but does the workers and peasants who will be sent to fight for that empire desire to die on unnamed battlefields just to glorify the name of king Lenin? No, the revolution is going in the wrong direction, and it need to return to real Socialism.

Which is what? Disarmament and isolation so that our economy may be destroyed, followed by an invasion by the imperialist butchers?

Abolishment of central authority, the formation of independent Communes, de-establishment of a standing army in favor of free worker's militias. We need to free ourselves from government.

That sounds all nice and dandy, but it won't hold up for a week against the forces of the old empires.

I agree, I don't believe that the abolishment of state can happen before all the reactionary powers in the world have adopted the idea of becoming a socialist state as well.

To do so would be to invite the capitalists and kings to sweep us away. It is only through our united efforts that we have achieved so much, that we are so strong, that we are capable of spreading the revolution and liberating millions more comrades! Once the world is free only then can we take that last step.

Hurray, one who sees the light!
No man can stand above others, no party has the right to rule over free men and women.
Army is a method of killing freedom and oppressing mankind.
Less incomes, less taxation, no tariffs, no subsidies, no social spending.
What rights does the state possess, to steal from honest workers?

So essentially what you want is to see the current lands of the VSVR divided between Russia, Austria, and France as they sweep over the independent communes one by one and see the people returned to imperialist, monarchist, and capitalist rule. Are the anarchists so blinded by idealism that they cannot see the practical implications of their policies? We are surrounded by powerful, militaristic monarchies, all of which would easily run right over a collection of independent communes protected by militias.

We cannot expect to create a stateless society until the entire world is united under socialism, or at least the vast majority of it. Until then, a collection of independent communes is just inviting invasion and takeover by monarchs and capitalists. So, the real question is, do you want to be under the absolutist monarch rule of Russia or Austria, or do you want to be part of the VSVR? Because right now you seem to be leaning towards the first option.

In the first weeks of 1875 a small newspaper by the name of Liberty published an Article entitled ''A Proposal for a Workers' Press'', the article brought the paper to national attention as a significant movement started to build up behind the ideas that Comrade Communard proposed.

    Liberty

A Proposal for a Workers' Press

There has scarcely been a more divisive political issue in recent months than the issue of freedom of the press (or "private press" as its detractors like to call it). The decision of Comrade Lenin to ally with a faction which openly believes in the censorship of the press has reignited the debate which we thought had been closed by the United Front's establishment of the free press a decade ago. we believe that this is due to a false dichotomy. Those who believe in press freedom think that there is a choice between private press and state tyranny of the printed word, and those who believe in state press believe there is a choice between rampant capitalist propaganda and state controlled publication. But neither of these is true, for it is possible to have a free press without a private press. It is this possibility that we outline below.

First, all printing presses, paper mills and all means of conveying the printed word are to be re-nationalised. Free press devotees, bear with me, for this will not be a tyranny. The amount of resources each citizen group would be allocated on the presses would be equal to its numerical strength. In this way the amount of exposure an idea receives is not governed by its backers' bank balances but by its popularity among the proletariat. To prevent political influence distorting these figures we suggest that either a Party Commission be set up to oversee the presses, or it is run by the Trade Unions. One might criticise this path by asking how small new ideas may ever be heard, but to illustrate this, let me give you an example of how a new publication might grow.

A group of proletarians would first set up a journalists' collective and, once they had persuaded friends and family members to back their venture, they would have enough subscribers to justify, say, a few hundred runs of their publication. This would be distributed in the newspaper vendors about town. Let us say that 100 of the people who read the paper agreed with what they saw and sent in some method of identification to become subscribers to the publication. The publication would now be able to print, say, a thousand runs of its publication. Repeat this process, and within years we have gone from a small proletarian collective of journalists to a major nationwide publication. What could be more democratic? What could be more proletarian?

Of course, the major Party faction publications would probably get the lion's share of support, but this method allows for democratic freedom of expression in a way that the state press does not, and it allows for the elimination of the profit motive in the press that the present system does not. We believe it is the best of both worlds, and the only way to protect our beloved freedoms without inviting the criticisms which some in the Party have given, and without allowing disproportionate influence to those with wealth. We seek not to limit press freedom but to broaden it, to make it a truly socialist, egalitarian freedom. We seek not to prevent debate but to provoke it by allowing those who would never have had a chance at exposure to print their views. We seek to enrich the politics of this nation and allow all their voice. We call upon all Party factions who support democracy and socialism to support this idea and to pursue its implementation after the next election. Let the voice of the proletariat ring out!

    - Comrade Communard

I received another letter, this time from Communard, I hope this will satisfy you all until I can release an update. I'm still bouncing about ideas but since quite a lot happened again I might have to make this another two parter which would mean I'd have to update today if I want the election up by Sunday.

Let any man write what he wishes to, or any woman.
There can be no official state press, only those owned by parties or free men.

I think I'll just start ignoring Enewald from now on, since he's just posting demagoguery and worn-out phrases.

I wholeheartedly support the ideas put forward by Comrade Communard. I think freedom of expression is immensely important to keep a non-capitalist state vivid, innovative and democratic. Because of just that, private ownership of the press must be restricted, so that we don't get the caged "freedom of speech" of the more liberal capitalist nations.

Tommy> In game terms, would that system correspond to free press, censored press or state press?
