that rebel area ... why is koenigratz (spelling and god knows what the proper 1870 title is???) not going to join in? Hope its not some special 'Cant' effect ... ?

Your extended border with Russia is certainly going to attract St Petersburg's attention even more... when is the truce due to end?

Lovely to see the lime take over Europe. All those years of self-imposed restraint thrown aside with lovely conquests into central europe. Who is next to feel the wrath of the Ottoman horde?

I vote we bring Ottomanism and the love of the Almighty Sultan to the Americas, in the form of a liberated Islamic United Empire where the 'United States' currently is. They've been warming our seat for far too long.
This is the most beautiful map of Europe I have ever seen. It's like someone took a box of oil pastels, decided that minty-fresh green was the best, and scribbled all over a map of Europe.
Take your time 'cleaning' the borders up, it's refreshing to see a map with no need for neat borders! Let the Ottoman Empire flow like a river, hither and thither and wherever it chooses! That was not an intentional rhyme. Also - as you gobble up so many countries, does the game speed increase or decrease, if I may ask?

Tanzhang: It usually converts away pretty quickly.
Enewald: Aye aye!
Rensslaer: Hrm...interesting comparison. And after the flood is gone, the maps look all screwed up.
loki100: Dunno. Luck?
aldriq: The truce with Russia is already over. Remember: they're afraid of Big Brother Britain.
Kaltorak: Unciv minors, then I'll kick Austria and Prussia one more time. By that point, I'll have Guards and should be close to Machine Guns.
KanyeWest: It's that whole wooden navy thing. I can't afford to split my army that much.
Yet.
Communitarian: At this point, I think the game speed would decrease no matter what I did.

If you have the patience, and the will power, you could go about erasing all the tiny pops that do very little except sap the game speed out of Victoria, but it would require patience, a lot more than most have.
Is there any mechanism in the game (like Infamy) that is going to make Britain drop you like a diseased leper? I wholeheartedly applaud your efforts to bully Europe into submission under the wings of Great Britain, but from a game balance point of view, there ought to be some threshold where the Brits decide they've protected you long enough. I would've thought that going over the Infamy limit would have done it, but that by itself is clearly not enough.
PS: I noticed that the Germans combined already outnumber the Turks... What populations can you recruit from?
Do continue ravaging Europe in a sea of flames. But I would appreciate if you were to do some strategic targeting for your next wars - that is, cleaning up your borders.
Cracking stuff. Nations falling to a rampaging Ottomans, expeditions to the Nile getting hopelessly lost, rising badboy promising future non-stop war and the very pleasant shade of green continues to cover yet more of the map.

That map of Europe makes me think of pistachio. Mmmm...
The boost to literacy has to be welcomed, but I'd have been tempted to go for the philosophy tech that (IIRC) unlocks in 1870 rather than beelining machine guns.
You'll get machine guns quicker your way (by about 18 months), but you're permanently foregoing something like 4800 research points (enough for 1.5 first tier techs) by waiting.

Crusader Kings: Parmesan Cheese - The Rise (or fall) of the di Parma dynasty, The Rise of Heresy and the end of the Catholic Church

As 1870 progresses, our main problem is a typical one: we can't pass reforms because we don't have enough liberals, socialists, or militancy. However, we have angry Jacobins in Germany) and angry Anarcho-Liberals (everywhere else).
Militarily, we're numerous but outdated. Before taking on Russia, we need better weapons.
April 8: Bread riots break out throughout the empire, and we end up with 20% more liberals in the upper house - yet still not enough to pass reforms. Argh!
April 26: Nationalism and Imperialism is researched. We start researching Muzzle-loaded Rifles. In other news, an excavation permit is granted by Egypt to investigate the Valley of the Kings.
August 5: Austria didn't have enough problems. They will end up losing control of the entire eastern portion of their empire.
August 18: Jacobins rise! With less than 50 brigades, they are quickly crushed.
September 10: For no apparent reason, Bavaria accepts a white peace from army-less Prussia.
October 7: China insults us, giving us a cut down to size CB. Riiiight. Korea insults us a month and a half later. I'm sure this will be remembered.
November 13: A World's Fair is held in Kostantiniyye.
December 1: Sabotage! Events like these are popping up rapidly now that I'm oppressing everyone.
January 1, 1871: Events that give a boost to an ideology in the upper house should be capitalized on immediately, as you'll lose much of it at the new year.
January 3: Our first core from Nationalism and Imperialism: Bratislava! We'll start getting cores every few months.
February 6: With our rebels crushed, it's time to take advantage of Nationalism and Imperialism.
March 29: Anarcho-Liberal rebels rise in Prussia. They just can't keep anyone happy.
April 24: Apparently, Turks can't follow rivers. Either that, or:
Turkish explorer: Where is the source of the Nile?
Native: We use secret method. Sneak up on that elephant, and smack it in the ass.
Turkish explorer: Thanks!
...
...
Elephant: ROOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!
Turkish explorer: Aaaaaaauuuuuuuuuugggggggghhhhhhhhhh! *gurgle*
May 4: Italy loses GP status to Mexico...which leads to:
July 11: After learning not to trust natives or anger elephants, we finally discover the source of the Nile. It's written in PHP.
September 4: Indian Pan-Nationalists take over Kutch and move into our territory. In response...
October 12: We discover how to make muzzle loaded rifles (tip: don't pull trigger while looking down muzzle...). Now to figure out those pesky Breech Loaded Rifles.
November: Kalat is annexed. Kutch follows early in January.
January 10, 1872: Italy cedes Savoie to France.
April 1: We declare war on Bali. We follow with war on Luang Prabang on the 10th and Brunei on May 26th. They are all annexed in about 6 months each.
April 4: Britain discovers Tutenkhamun's Tomb. Drat!
August 10: Troy is discovered on the Anatolian coast.
September 11: We have a model colony!
December 3: Prussia falls to the Anarcho-Liberals. Bavaria responds by breaking its truce and declaring war.
