Pity. Some times it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm not sure why.

I've considered updating this since the creator (seemingly) abandoned it. If I did, I'd probably have to overhaul the whole thing from scratch since I doubt any of what we have now will work with AHD and the subsequent patches.
If anyone is interested in doing grunt work and/or brainstorming ideas for something like this, I'd be more motivated.

I have started going through the files myself. I am an experienced programmer but a novice mod'er.
I have been comparing the mod files to the vanilla files and then copying the changes to the AHD files. But trying to decide what changes are for the mod and what are just version skew is not easy. It is not always obvious what changes were made for the mod and what are just recent patches for V2. At this point I am taking the approach that if it is not obviously a change for the mod I ignore it. This should produce a working game but one that is probably way out of balance. That is fine for a start. I can balance later. Unfortunately, it is taking forever to get through all the files.
Also I have a Mac so any .exe files are useless to me. I will try to recreate the randomizer in perl. Does Windows have perl built-in? Does anyone have the source for the randomizer? Or just the logic would be fine.

After a possibly wasted evening going through the common folder, today I will tackle an easier task. The history folder is all very scriptable so that I can do without too much trouble.
Of course I want to make a big change right off the bat. I do not like the idea of every country starting with a machine parts factory. In the beginning every country should use Artisans for their manufacturing. My question to the more experienced modders is, will eliminating all of the factories in the initial setup cause any problems with countries industrializing?
Also I assume that all countries will start with the same population, same Reforms, same Technology, etc. They will all have unique names, cultures, religions, and national values. The question is what to do about ruling party? The easiest would be to start them all with the same ruling party but making them different is doable. But different ruling parties have some advantages. For example Democracies get bonuses to immigration. Is that fair? How do people feel about that?
Theoretically, there shouldn't be a big problem so long as POPs still get their needs satisfied. You may want to tinker around with this.
There were a few changes I thought of making if I ever started working on this. First, I'd regroup provinces into regions of two-three so not every province is filled with aristocrats, bureaucrats, etc. Second, I'd make officers and soldiers capital-only POPs. Together, these two should cut down on lag significantly and full utilize the game's region system.
I also suggest making political parties unique to each culture group, language group, region, whatever. For example, American parties would use things like "Democratic Party" and "Republican Party" whereas East Asian parties would use things like "Royal Faction" and "Reform Faction."
Technologies and whatnot would have to be renamed, and there should be two or three starting techs to give nations the proper bonuses so that they can stand on their own two feet. The game should be about 300 years, IMO, and last from 1648 to 1948 so that it appropriately covers the the Early Modern, Victorian, Edwardian Eras, and World War Eras.
You may also want to consider laying down cores for geographical unions such as Iberia, Great Britain, and so forth.

Well, I finished getting all the countries & provinces up to date. (I ended up keeping all the governments that were in the original mod) I got the randomizer working. But the game crashes on "Processing Flags" when I try to start it up.
I knew it was too soon to try it but I thought I would give it a shot.![]()

I added some flag maintenance to my country processing scripts and now I can get the mod to load.
It is a total mess but it runs.![]()
can I have some help please, im having the same problem as emr, can someone lend a hand?
can someone please put up a version that is compatible for AHD
Meh
Please help.
When the Equestria 1.2 was released, I tried to make it compatible with VF. It didn't work. Then, I went into the text files from the Equestria 1.2 folder and made it compatible
with VF, and it worked perfectly. Since Equestria 2.0 came out, I tried to do the same thing. It worked fine, but I overwrote the map files, and it loaded fine until it reached the loading for the maps, then it crashed. I used a vanilla version, installed 1.4 patch, VF, then did the exact same thing minus overwriting the map files. As you know, the map files load after the flags load. So after I did this, it loads up to the Flags loading, then crashes. It worked perfectly before, loading the flags fine, only stopping with the map files. I'm confused on how it worked before, but now won't load the flags. I've tried several times, and the same problem occurs.
Sorry to double post, but I thought I'd say I fixed the problem. I got to the main menu, clicked single player and there Equestria was. I moved California to Santa Fe and replaced the usa and mexico province folders with the Equestria 2.11 folders, which just give Equestria California, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona. But, when I try to load the game, it crashes at "Adapting History". I did everything I could think of, from correcting any errors I could have made. I've spend over hours trying to fix the whole debacle. How can I avoid the crash at "Adapting History" when trying to play as Equestria?

I've followed all of the instructions in the post, but my game continues to crash at "adapting history". I do have the steam version of this game, so I know that there are many problems associated with it. Is this mod just completely incompatible with AHD versions of the game?
