This is a AAR for my play as Mexico in the Mp game Pax Britanna I hope that other players in the game might be interested in this but at the moment its just me and this is my first real AAR post so be nice please haha Though feel free to offer suggestions.
Mexico as of July 23rd 1849
Mexico a proud...well maybe not proud yet, glory has not yet found us in proper terms but Mexico is a stubborn nation would be a definate statment even so it seemed at the start that an accomidation would need to be reached with the USA Mexico's rather predictable neighbor. In a talk of misunderstanding Mexico decided to let texas go and the USA to settle Wash. state as it would be their only port to the Pacific without manifest destiny. That decided Mexico turned itself to finding a way to make up the prestige lost by letting texas go. First it turned south to the USCA who were promtly protected by the USA in a rather ungrateful move given that the Mexicans could have just taken everything they let go.
Upset at this halting of their ambitions the Mexican presidente encourages colonizing in every avalible state to the north bringing three new states into the nation. At the same time Hati is scouted and soon a DoW is made Annexing them for the glory of Mexico!
Domestically it seems there is a bit of a problem as all signs pointed to the conservatives winning the election as the liberals only had 18% of the vote strangely the liberals managed to pull 64% of the voters over to their side, this is an upsetting turn of events even though the economy seems to manage dispite it.
As years pass gold is found in the Mexican states bringing much needed wealth to the country that had fallen so far in debt, and even as the country slowly pulls itself togeather economically it is through great study and debate in Europe the 8th great power in the world! Sadly this is short lived and the presidente is soon left with but letters of condolance as the netherlands take their former spot of glory.
It seemed that the only way to rise again in power would be to beat up on someone smaller once again. In vain hope we scanned south america for a nation not yet protected by brazil or the USA who seemed to have no other ambition than thwarting Mexico's.
Finally it seemed Argentina was the only nation yet unprotected by anyone. After asking Brazil for it was in that players area Mexico made the agreement not to demand any land and in exchange it would be able to wage its war for prestige. Now through some oversight or perhaps there was only a claim to give legmitacy, either way somehow the USA ended up allied to the intended target and after some time they took the oppertunity and declared war. With its eyes rooted on its intended war Mexico might have missed the signs but Brazil its faithful and true ally gave warning and a large porton of the forces on their way south turned back to the north to aid those guarding the US border. But the US was to strike before they would arrive attacking that at first in a way that seemed like it would be repulsed by the Mexican forces but as both sides piled in their brigades in an attempt to claim that edge given by a first victory it became clear that it would be no mexican victory, with many killed on both sides the mexican armies retreated pursued accross Mexico intill their backs were to the pacific when strangly enough the US left them alone broken and pathatic but still a core with which a fighting force could be formed.
New brigades were being recruited the army was calling up every man it could attempting to meet the threat which even after an attempt to give up the war in south america for a white peace as was the reason the USA declared war continued. It became apparent that the US was just grabbing a oppertunity.
Battles continued on and off so far only defeats for the Mexican army but the USA had suffered many deaths in battle and in attrition as they attempted to capture land under the watch of large mexican armies they could not split into smaller less unwieldly formations.
And so it came to be that the presidente declared that all new green recruits shall mock battle groups of vets to give them important lessons of battle, hopefully ones such as duck. It was on one such visit to a mock battle that the Presidente met a young officer fresh from training leading a group of new recruits into the mock fight against the bitter war torn vets. As a rule even against these crippled gaunt men the new brigade would find itself outfought and out thought. This new captain was battering though trenches and smashing ambushes with ease it seemed he had the spirit Mexico needed and in the spirit of desperation he was made General Mariano Lopez de Santa Ana.

Given command of the newly formed mexican army he waited his chance one attack ending in failure did not discorage for the losses for both sides were near equal and the USA withdrew to texas to recoup their losses giving mexico a chance to retake lost territory and await the next push. Surely enough it came with the USA splitting its forces a large force marched to Matamoros on the coast of the gulf where a smaller force of Mexicans resisted them.
This was the chance Gen. Mariano was waiting for he quickly attacked the second group who was to far away for any help to arrive for some time with all the mexican forces attacking under his command the first US army was shattered with the reinforcments arriving just in time to join them, they retreated towards the army that had just won in Matamoros with Gen. Mariano hot on their heels. After another bloody battle and some pursuit the whole of the US military was slaughtered. Except a small group that in the mist of battle hoisted a different flag. One of stars and bars...
Even at the turning point the USA refuses to back down claiming now they shall "consider" a white peace. A white peace?! They would ruin themselves and Mexico to gain this mainifest destiny if they do not accept defeat for their foolish part in this war then mexico may be forced to take things to the next step and support the CSA distasteful as slavery is.
