hereby i present you the Colourmod you wanted to have since you bought Victoria 2.

The History:

How do i come to make this mod, and why is it called Sexiicolours?
Well, thats alittle story, i will explain:
When i started playing Victoria 2, i did it with the Beta of the Sexiicolours mod by HMAS-Nameless.
I liked what i saw there, but also i started modifying more and more colours to my liking.
In the end i modified more than 130 Country Colours out of the 208 ones that are in the Vanilla game.
Some changes where radical, some minimal, overall it was alot of time and work that went into the creation of this mod.

Now, because i used the Sexiicolours Beta as my basis from where i started to mod this,
i wrote HMAS-Nameless and asked him if he would grant me permission to use and publish my mod that is based on his work.
He not only granted me permission, but he also made me Co-Developer for THE SEXIICOLOURS MOD for Victoria 2.

We both agreed that it would be the best to split our work off into 2 branches:

- SexiiColours Intense, this one here, developed by me, and,
- Sexiicolours: Imperiosus Cultum, developed by HMAS-Nameless

But why splitting it up? Why now 2 Threads and 2 mods?
Because we both have different goals and aims with our mods,
and we both have a different pace in which to work on the mod,
and i live in Europe and he in Australia, the time differnce makes colaborating also difficult.

Sexiicolours: Imperiosus Cultum will be more true to the vanilla colours
and will try to integrate the “national” colours better than i will be probably able to.

SexiiColours Intense will mainly look pretty while still striving to get as many “national” colours right as possible.
Both mods are open for user suggestions and critique, and more variety is never a bad thing for the user i guess

Also HMAS-Nameless and I will colaborate with our mods, we both can get colours
we like from the others mod, and integrate them into ours without asking,
so you as the user will get the best of both worlds =)

For you as the User, its easy, just take a look at both mods, and then decide which one you prefer

The Goal:

This Mod aims to be the most eyepleasing one, with clearly distinguishable intense colours,
while it still is true to the “national” colours of each country, as good as possible.

I will take userwishes & feedback into account and update the mod accordingly.
And i will collaborate with HMAS-Nameless and his Sexiicolors Original Mod.

If you want to give feedback or wish a colour for a country, please do so in this thread



The Work:

The first Version of this Mod was created on August 27, 2010
It is intended for use with Victoria 2 1.2
(Version for Victoria 2 1.1 in older versions section)

This mod is tested and works fine with Victoria 2 - Version 1.2!

Not every country color has been changed, but over 130 of them alone by me,
and some others by HMAS-Nameless.

You are free to use this mod with your original of Victoria 2
You may redistribute freely, but dont claim it as your own work nor charge money for it.

The latest release is Sexiicolors Intense 1.3

Included in this Release:
- 1 countries-folder, including 138 country-.txt files
- 1 .bmp-file (World Color Map)
- 1 readme.txt file


Please note that this mod is currently untested with the Victoria 2 Expansion - A House Divided.

As Paradox changed alot on the UI and some of the map modes, its likely that it wont work as its intended to if you use it with the Expansion.
So if you choose to try it out, do it on your own risk and be prepared to reinstall the game/uninstall the mod in case it dosent work.
If you do try it out, please report back if you had any issues.

I plan to get back on the mod eventually to make it work with the expansion if its needed, but i have no timefrane yet for this in mind.

To Use:

Go to your "..\Victoria 2\common\countries" Folder, make a backup of it,
in case you want to revert to the original colors.
Then copy the countries folder from the mods archive over your original.

Launch Victoria 2 and enjoy!

France, Japan and the Ottoman Empire have alternative colours in their files.
To change it just erase the "#" in front of the alternative colour and put it in front of the primary colour.

Why is France purple?

Because for some strange reason i think allways on purple when i think on France

Besides that it makes a good and quite unique colour for the grande nation
that is easily recognizable, and no other country in this mod has the same purple as France.

I didnt choose Blue because too many other nations allready have a blue colour, and grey would look bad next to Prussia/Germany and Austria.
I will provide a backup Blue tone for Fance for anyone who cant stand the purple in the next version tough

Japan is and will stay Yellow in this Mod. I picked a yellow thats easily distinguishable from china and spain.

I know many prefer a red for it, but its really easy to change if you really want to.
In the next Version i will include a Red tone in the japan file,

I agree. I downloaded the mod and I like the colours except for France, Japan and Ottoman Empire. I changed France back to original colour, made Japan dark red and Ottoman light red. Otherwise I enjoy this palette so far.

The next version will have alternative colours for Japan and France.

Not sure about an alternative red for the OE, red is difficult to get a shade thats fitting and does work with all the other red countries.
If i find a good one i give it in as an alternative tough.

umm im pretty sure that French colour is the same from my version of the mod to be released this weekened. The same with Japan. How about I keep those colours for my version as they are based on flags mostly. I'd recondment using your original colours from the previous update rather than these alternative colours as they are too similar to my mod's version.

You are welcome to use whatever colours you want from this mod HMAS-Nameless, you know that

The basic colours are still those that where in 1.1 (purple france, green OE, yellow Japan),
those in the 1.2 update are just alternatives for pepole that want them or dont like the colours i have choosen initially

They are commented out, looking like this in the France file for example:

#color = { 30 120 210 }
color = { 136 103 233 }

If someone dosent want the purple france,
he can just change the # in front of the 2 lines and
have a the alternative blue france.

1.2 update is sexii. I used same color as was in HoI3 for SU but this one seems better

This looks really great. The some of the yellows look a bit greenish, which doesn't look that great (they look fluorescent).

Which ones do you mean in particular?

Some of the yellows have a green tone in them (Bolivia and Baden for example),
its to make them better distinguishable from the other, more pure, yellows.
