ProvinceOwnership and POPAdjuster tools

To help me with my Of Burgundy & other changes mod, I developed four quick-and-dirty tools to handle some of the drudge work involved:

"Province Ownership", a drag-and-drop tool to change the ownership, controller, cores and colonial tags in history/provinces files:



"POPAdjuster", to quickly change the size, culture and religion of multiple populations:



"TranslationCopier", to help keep the different languages in sync, and also to generate "dev" province names with the IDs shown in the names:



"MapChecker", to validate some common errors when editing provinces and states:



They are a little "raw", and I made them mostly for myself, but they work fine as far as I've used them. I highly recommend making regular backups of your work though... (but then any serious mod project should be using an SVN directory anyway )

There are read-me files included in the download with basic explanations. Good luck!

- POPAdjuster can now change the type of populations
- Reworked the UIs a bit to make them more explicit
- Gave icons to all four programs

It would be awesome if you added pop size, militancy, location (colony=yes/no) and type, to fix savegames by converting failed pops into sustainable.

Maybe you should add in your first post

- where exactly you-drag-and-drop the province-files, and
- how exactly the "Add to list" (= chosen directory) should be configurated.

Ok, I'll do that. Bad ergonomic is the hallmark of tools made for oneself, I'm afraid.

Can you also make this for save games? changing province ownership, making pops your culture.

No. Saved games are a very different file format, doing this for them would require rewriting most of the tools from scratch.

Yes, those are great tools, nice for modding. However i've a question about Pop Adjuster.

I'm trying to reduce start populations, and i've got weird results, some pops are at 0 and most are not affected after decreasing to 55%.
I'm trying to mass-reduce, and all owned provinces are selected (added each tag manually of countries present at the start). Of course, i didn't select any culture in Pop to affect. Am i doing something wrong ?

Anyway good tools and could you add a button which can select all pops around the world ? Would be handy.

That sounds odd, did you leave all criteria blank? And did you run the tool several times? Because the effects would be cumulative.

no, started from scratch. The process is still running on my machine.




It looks like it adds this at the end of provinces :

farmers = {
culture = hazara
religion = shiite
size = 14662
} # normal file stops here

aristocrats = {
culture = pashtun
religion = sunni
size = 0
}

bureaucrats = {
culture = pashtun
religion = sunni
size = 0
}

Dont know might be me, but i'm starting from vanilla.

Edit : dont know, just finished but it didnt work..

You need to leave "convert %" at 100. Otherwise the tool will take 0% of the old pop and create a new pop with 60% of that size - ie, a size of 0.

Also, as a rule you should test it on a small number of provinces first, to check it's working.
