Ummm, they're pretty? Lol. I actually know just slightly more than squat about real life Ethiopia.
My thinking was that in my timeline, where Ethiopia developed a capitalist industrial economy, they would have had the same general trend toward secularizing and commercializing holidays as happened to the US in roughly the same time period. Thus a sacred religious procession eventually turns into an African Macy's Parade. Fireworks would be entirely likely I guess.
