Thread: Intelligentsia tiny mod

    Intelligentsia tiny mod

There are two mods by now: the small mod that replace clergy with intelligentsia and alfa mod that ADD intelligentsia in game (more information below).
Intelligentsia is a social class of people engaged in complex, mental and creative labor directed to the development and dissemination of culture, encompassing intellectuals and social groups close to them (artists, writers, scientists, school teachers, clergymen, etc.).

    About mods (Read this first!):

The first one is actually for players who want intelligentsia in their game and don't care about clergy. I haven't change balance, so I recommend you to use it with some balance mod such as Pop and Economy overhaul mod or you can simply use one of the mods that has already included my mod:
The Victoria 2 Realism & Rebalance Project (only one by now)

The second one is for modders mostly, because:
There is no intelligentsia pops, because unfortunately i'm not a historian and don't know how many intellectuals live in London or Paris by 1 january 1836
I havent touch any pop files, because any single mod has its own promotion and consumption system
There is still a problem of education and con reduction

To install simply place folders into your game directory. It's strongly recomended to back up original files. The mod replace localization files, so it can delete some other mod descriptoins. In this mod consciousness reduction by clergymen disabled. If you want this feature, do not extract 'common' folder.

IMO this is a much better representation of the type of pop paradox wanted clergy to be. There is still one problem though, the clergy provide a suppression of consciousness, scientists, writers, schoolteachers (though certainly back then not all) would rather increase this. I do think that still this is a better description for this class. Congrats .
The HRE Revised Mod is a Holy Roman Empire and CKII balance mod aimed to stop want to be despot emperors in their tracks

YES! Was thinking of doing it myself actually. GJ.

PS: May we add your tiny mod to the POP and economy overhaul project?

    Of course. Everyone welcome
Frankly speaking it was the aim of this mod

Wonderful. As many others I had been thinking the same thing, but was far from doing anything about it.

When doing mod did you find out if it was possible to _add_ a POP type rather than replace one?

Yeah, I think the best sollution it would be to add instead of substitute, so that we still have the cons check by the clergy, but a real educational POP.(Although I reckon this part was planned to be played by the clerkrs, who would be the modern educational POP as the game advances, as well as Factory workers)

    Nice icon

But I'm worried removing the con reduction might unbalance the game, especially for authorian governments who wants to keep con low.

I personally believe this pop needs to be split in two to work with the game mechanics. Clergy lowers CON, while interlectuals raises CON, both should be financed by the education setting, and which one dominates would depend on your initial mix and your CON.

I tried to do exactly that, but unfortunately raising literacy is tied to reducing con.

    Nice pic .

Did you remove the high con penalty to other pops promoting to clergy for the intelligentsia?

Also, could we get an Intelligentsia Juanta government type? It's a long shot I know, but still has a lot more historical precedent then that damn bourgeois dictatorship.

Yes, while experimentig i've stored backup of old clergy file in 'poptypes' and suddenly discover that there two types of clergy in my country So you can easily add new pop placing pop file in 'poptype'. But unfortunately there is string 'can_reduce_consciousness = yes' that means not only reduction of consciousness but also allow pop to increase literacy. I've solved this problem by setting CON_POOR_CLERGY = 0, CON_MIDRICH_CLERGY = 0 in defines.lua, but it affects on ALL education pops (both clergy and intelligentsia)
Maybe ask paradox if we can create new variables in defines.lua or make some events that change this variables

Nope. It's the same as vanilla, except icon, description and con reduction. It mostly grafix mod.

I like to play democratic Russia
But seriously i think it should be tested with 'Pop and Economy overhaul mod' they've made a great deal of work in balancing Vicky and know how to do it

This makes me worried. Wont the promotion to intelligestia slow down to a trickle as pops gain con?

Will look into the possibility of detaching the con reduction from the LIT increase if I can.

I love the idea of the intelligensia, and would like to include it in the POPedmand mod, but until I have a way of keeping clergy dropping CON and making intelligensia increase it we can't use it.

Also, love the little Freud/Trotsky icon
For every subtle and complicated question, there is a simple and straightforward answer, which is wrong.

You may add this mod. I think they solve that problem.

    Really Trotsky, haven't noticed that.

    Keder,

do you think it's possible to replace clergy with Intelligentsia during the game? Say, make them a separate pop type? Do you think that would be possible, or can we only replace existing pops?
