  1. #1

    Arrow agibaer's NEW NATIONS mod

Already used to the old nations in CotA? Replace them with 7 new ones!

    The New Nations are:
    -The Ottoman Empire
    -Moscow (representing Russia)
    -Scotland
    -Poland-Lithuania
    -The Papal States (representing Italy)
    -Ming Dynasty (representing China)
    -The Hansa (Germany)

Download it now and start playing!
    -> New Nations Mod

    Installation:

Simply overwrite your "Data" folder in "Paradox Interactive/Commander/" with the "New Nations" Data folder.
There is also a "Backup" folder in the Zip file, containing all the original files. If you want to play the normal game again, simply overwrite the Data folder with the one in "Backup"!

    See next posts for screenshots!

    Further Info:

Replaced nearly everything; Names, Uniforms, Pictures...
Home Port pictures now represent the religion of the owner; AI colony names are in the language of the New Nations...

    Nation Info:

    Ottoman Empire:
Flag: Flag of the Ottoman Navy 1453-1793
    Uniform: Green & Yellow
Names: All historical from 14th to 19th century.

    Moscow:
Flag: CoA of the Grand Duchy of Moscow 1283–1547
    Uniform: White & Red
Names: All historical from 14th to 19th century.

    Scotland:
    Flag: Saltire on blue background.
    Uniform: Blue & White
Names: All historical from 14th to 19th century, some ship names fictional.

    Poland-Lithuania:
Flag: Flag of Sigismund III Vasa
    Uniform: Red & Blue
Names: Historical from Courland, Teutonic Order, Prussian Confederation, Poland-Lithuania; supplemented by fictional names.

    Papacy:
Flag: Flag of the Papacy before 1808 plus CoA of the Papacy.
    Uniform: Red & Yellow
Names: Hisorical from the Papal State, Naples-Sicily; supplemented by fictional names.

    China:
Flag: Chinese letters for the Ming Dynasty on golden background.
    Uniform: Black & Gold
Names: Historical from Ming Dynasty; supplemented by fictional names.

    Hansa:
Flag: Colors of the Hansa. There is no CoA or flag used by all of the Hansa cities. Each had their own, but mostly red and white.
    Uniform: Red & White
Names: Historical from 15th to 17th century. Supplemented by fictional names.

    Pirates:
Flag: Red flag instead of black, since pirates in the early days of the west indies seem to have preferred red Jolly Rogers.
    Uniform: Red
Names: All historical from 15th to 17th century.
    Commander: Conquest of the Americas:

Great job! Do they overwrite the existing nations?

And how do you get these soldiers onto the ships. I have loaded soldiers onto the quite often, but can never see them on the ship while in battle.

    Yes, they overwrite existing nations.

And for the soldiers, you have to set your character details to "high" in the graphic options, only then will the crew show up. If it's at normal or low, only sailors will be displayed!

Took me about a week, 2-3 hours each day.

Thinking about doing an "ancient nation mod", including Rome, Greece, Celts etc.
Have to see if I have the time and motivation to do it

It would be awesome, but Celts and Romans fighting with guns would look rather funny

Yeah, I'll wait for a suitable addon, maybe, to do that mod. So far this one has only been downloaded 6 times, so the interest in it (or in CotA generally) is not very motivating.

I'll toy around tonight and see how much I can mod the uniforms into p.e. roman looks. The textures are not moddable so it'll probably just be a normal sea officer wearing sandals
