And another beta AAR is coming up! Watch Switzerland rule the waves and defeat the British Royal Navy... or die trying!

Rule Helvetia! Helvetia Rule the Waves...

Please only comment here, do not post in the AAR thread. I will update every hour or so, there are 4 chapters and an epilogue in total.

Have fun! :)

Any conservative backlash from your recent modernization? Great AAR btw.

Nope. That's the great thing about all those liberal revolution events, you can manipulate your country to become very liberal. Switzerland is in a unique starting position for that, admittedly. They don't have First Past the Post (but Jefferson Method) for voting method, and once you get rid of 2/state UH selection, you've got a fairly "open" UH that responds to your POPs demands well.

Yeah, that's kinda dissapointing though. :( I was expecting becoming a liberal majority state would be much harder, possibly with the Old Regime clashing with the New. Perhaps we'll see that in other countries, considering that Switzerland is a relativately stable country? Russia would be my first guess.

Second chapter up, and we've got sea access!

:eek:Whats your BB after that?
Slightly over 20-22, IIRC. You get 10 Infamy for each "acquire state" wargoal, plus a bit for that "humiliate" wargoal against WUR. I stayed under the BB limit for the entire game, but that one was close, I admit! ;)

Very interesting AAR. I was wondering on the quote - does the same apply to Socialist Revolution (if it is in game of course)? Can you manipulate your country to pass social reforms? What is the consequence if you don't pass the reforms? Does your country become sort of a powder barrel ready to explode?

More on the social stuff will be in the later chapters (I think). There are events that will increase the drive to socialism for your POPs, which you can use to guide your nation. They are not as plentiful as the Liberal Revolution events, but they have no end date. The Liberal Revolution ends, and the plentiful liberal-leaning events are mostly over.

Next chapter up, the first sea battle!

Mmmmm, I like this one!:D Swiss naval supremacy. Did you call back the pope's guards btw?:p

Gas warfare in 1874?

after reading how insane gas was in the AAR I made it a bit worse, and ai should also be more eager to research the tech to defend against it (1.2 patch)

Naaah, who cares about the Papal Guard? They don't have any ships, now do they? :)

Spoilsport! ;)

Good move, could be an exploit otherwise.

Still shouldn't be around in 1874 though! Historically it was a 1915 invention!

On the plus side the way the inventions are structured to make you plan your tech choices do look very cool...

Expansionist Switzerland building a navy to beat the British Royal Navy? Nice!

I was just about to mention to do something about the Swiss, as in a few demo games they were attacked and gobbled up by Sardinia-Piedmont and their ally France and no one seemed to care. Well, after reading your AAR I think it's only fair game. ;)

Next chapter up: Schweizer Bundesmarine vs. Royal Navy!
