How did you manage to finish the game didnt the game get painfully slow?

Not everyone's game slows, I've never experienced slowdown in the later game.

It did slow down somewhat, but I played through from start on speed 2, so it wasn't much of an issue. I blame the UK with their giant army (I checked and they had 8,000 brigades by the end).

I think the population stat is adult males only, so the full number is something like 320 million!

Possibly. I'd have felt easier about taking chunks out of Austria though. In the end I was too much of a peacemounger for my own good as I was at zero infamy for most of the game.

The one non-aggressive action which I should have taken sooner was sphering China. I let GB take big bites out of it while I was concentrating on forming Germany. Keeping China intact would have dented Britain's industrial score and manpower.

My trial run of 1.3feb with the Federal Republic of Central America

The other twelve images are over here to save bandwidth and keep this page from getting too cluttered. To view the full sized ones highlight 'Image Options' and select 'View Full Image'. There's a tremendous demand for fuel, though not surprising given how many ships I built. Cruisers were virtually pointless, the French navy beat mine at one point when we were fighting over South America. Luckily, even though 400 ships were sunk in one battle it was worth zero prestige and 0.1 warscore. The next war when I took the Philippines and five or size small states [including the Azores and that island up near Newfoundland from them].

Industrially I did really good. France was leading the game as #1 Great Power due to industrial score but I beat them out in the end by just a little bit. I almost met my demand for cement too. Is it just me or is it very hard to procure it in 1.3feb? Production went on even with it lacking in some cases. Other good money-makers were liquor, paper, airplanes, automobiles, steam convoys and barrels but only because of my gigantic military. Fabric and cement were decent moneymakers, as most consumer goods were. Steel was a bad choice until late in the game, when my navy was expanded and barrels were added to my land forces.

The only time I 'cheated' was when a major power underwent revolution, then I would load up as them and release territories that weren't held by rebels. That's how Canada, Australia, and several others came to be. California is my satellite, though it lost all of its factories [a good 1500 score] when I released it. I didn't need to do this to beat the UK, I had already stomped them and burned down London in order to kick them out of the Americas. Florida I won from the CSA, back when it was a colony.

I'm so close to getting every single reform, however even with socialists and liberals half-backing one another I often get stuck in 49% support limbo. I already went far over the infamy limit [something I've never done before], so perhaps in the last few years of the game I'll bump up my militancy that way.

Expansion-wise I usually go for Madagascar early on, but this time decided to head west instead... This was a mistake, as in 1.3feb the International Date Line is glitched and can take years to get across. In the end, once I saw France annex Madagascar I forgot about Africa, and what states I did colonize in the pacific I tended to ignore infrastructure-wise. The islands are just too hard to see at a glance, and arranging troop transports and such with the date line being glitchy is just too inefficient. Within the first year I invaded Columbia for the state of Panama for my national POPs there. I ended up taking Antioquia as well, which has become one of my wealthiest states. Northward, the US lost several wars against Mexico at first, but after finally re-annexing the CSA after three wars began to make headway.

Some other AI bugs. In Europe, the North German Federation took Alsace-Lorraine but lost it in the second war and decided to never build military units again. Many countries have tens of thousands of RP left over and while they have available naval research choose to not undertake it. The NGF had a navy of about 800 ships, and it would have taken a week to research steamers but I guess they just really like sailboats. Spain, the Netherlands, and other naval powers also choose to not upgrade their navy. France has no such problem.

Sphere-wise I've had China for half the game, and none of the other powers have come close to knocking me out. I had Japan and Chile as well, but they kept trading the 8th GP spot and made it quite irritating.

Anyhow. Here's the save if anyone wants to poke around. http://www.zshare.net/download/87387748877c4163/

Behold the legacy of Hydra!(For those surprised to see this, the game isn't modded, it's actual vanilla country)

The game was pretty tough, Industrialization was very slow due to the small population of the area. Also several bugs appear through the game (it's 1.3 by the way). Also i made several strange screens so maybe i'll post them in the appropriate topic.

As you can see i own 2 provinces of the USA plus the city on New-York. I conquered them when i was still Iraq and the sign said Iraqi USA. That was pretty funny.
I own the Congo country. The British started the Congo conference and it appeared as Italian protectorate. I forced them to release Congo and then conquered it myself.

It's weird how the USA and Russia messed their ways. The Ottomans were a great power through the game and only in the end surrendered their position to Brazil. Prussia was a bloody mess since the beginning and only in the end was able to keep it together. The CSA half it's regular size from the beginning and surprisingly survived. Uncivilized countries who joined the club in the chronological order of modernization are Tunis, China and Japan. Austria is democracy by the way, so is France. Italy was united but fell apart again.

Wow, i'm shocked that that isn't a modded game. Because loads of strange things are happening there: Loads of countries seem to have fallen to rebels. Commie USA/CSA, Fascist Mexico, and Prussia, Brazil and Sardinia-Piedmont all seem to have radical governments. Then you have the USCA fracturing, which i've never seen. Also, it looks like someone has conquered Haiti, as that doesn't look like their colour. Very interesting game regardless.

Mexico is monarchy. Prussia is Presidential Dictatorship, Brazil is Commie, Sardinia-Piedmont is fascist. USCA broke into 5 parts of which it consists. And no one conquered Haiti it is there, you just don't see it. The green thing there is Dominican Republic.

I'm looking to post some pics of my latest Bolivia game, but I can't figure out how to take a screenshot of the specific area I want including what place I'm in, etc. How would one do that? I already know about F12 for the whole map. ;)

My current game as Japan. At this point, I just finished pushing the Russians out of Sakhalin, and conquering Korea a little before that. I DoW'd Hawaii very early in the game for its strategic position later.

Now, I'm either going to try and invade the Philippines or California. I have an alliance with China; I'm saving attacking them for later, but I have plans for Formosa and Manchuria. I'm eventually going to finish off Dai Nam, then move further into South East Asia. The United Kingdom has Siam in its sphere, so that's slowing things down. The Dutch East Indies are on my to-do list as well. I hope to have a stronger navy by then to fight off the French attempts to save their Dutch allies, but, being that Europe is so far away, I'm not that worried. France would have to go around Africa to reach me.

How the hell is the AI only forming NGF in your games guys? Shouldn't they try to form Germany? After they take Alsace from France, they drop the Unification, like they would be scared of the Austrians.

In my current game, it took a long time for the NGF to get the three South German kingdoms in its sphere. Austria had a habit of banning their embassies. Germany didn't form until around 1890, and it waited until France was hit by a massive revolution to DoW for Alsace-Lorraine. It's rare to see them attack France at all. I play on normal difficulty, so it might be that the NGF is a lot more aggressive on hard and very hard.

NGF tends to go liberal, which is anti-war. The AI seems to play on this and decides against a standing army of any real size. This means when they go to war with Austria or France it's either a white peace or they are beaten handily. In my game, with my help, the NGF took alsace-lorraine but then lost it again a decade later, before they could get Austria out of the other territories it needed.
