    yes game runs fine normally just when i try to play one of the saves from the converter, i've reinstalled vicky i've reinstalled the converter and still no dice, Thanks for the help though.

    I've been trying out the converter, particularly paying attention to the North American mappings. It looks like provinces that are unclaimed in 1836 in V2 show up as unclaimed after conversion, even if there are EU3 territories mapping to them. Not sure what would cause that, but it's something to look into.

    Also, looks like my Canada mappings got left out of the converter pack. I pasted them in and they work just fine.

    At a guess I'd say that's because you normally have to steal GP status from an existing GP. If there aren't any you can't obtain it.

    Gentlemen, I would also like to add my support and enthusiasm for this endeavour. Great so see you've picked up where Paradox dropped the ball.

    That been said, i have a question. Will the converter follow the standard principle of making all EU3 nations conform to the existing VIC2 counterparts, which might require merging of multiple tags to make one nation? Wouldn't it be much preferable to convert every nation, generating new ones for Vicky given the lack of tag limitations in the new engine? In some games I have suprisingly successful Mazovias, Livonian Orders and Zaporozhyes, whose unique identities I would hate to see lost due to tag assimilation.

    Although I am quite hopeless at coding and modding, I would be happy to try to convert the flags for nations that don't exist in VIC2 yet that would need to be created for a one to one nation conversion.

    I think the converter has to also consider games that would continue on into HOI3, where adding large numbers of new nation tags would slow the game to an unplayable level (I think).

    Oh, and I have free time this evening...If someone can tell me definitavely what areas still need province mappings, I will do that tonight.

    I lack the ability to visualize the list in the first post so I need help there. I've read through it and still have no idea whats missing (besides South America)

    Converted an 1800s game fine, using EU3_V2_Converter_V001 from the 1st post, game even ran fine a few days, until I quit.
    One major issue, though: There are barely any colonies in Africa, it almost look like the default settings.
    Same for South America, where lots of non-existing countries appeared where there should be a few major blocks belonging to different colonial powers.
    Also Australia, where GB now owns all the areas that were wasteland in EU3. Same with Russia in Alaska. It appears the Wastelands by default belong to the owner in vanilla Victoria2, and only the vanilla colonies are colonized.
    Most supporters of the Oslo Accords insisted that this agreement would solve all existing problems.

    As to the wasteland thing: to circumvent that in South America, I didn't link any Vicky provinces to Wasteland EU3 provinces. If there is no province owner in eu3, then the engine assignes the Vicky2 default. Perhaps linking those Wasteland /Alaskan provinces to the nearest coastal (and claimable) eu3 provinces rather than to Wastelands will correct this.

    edit: that would also take care of parts of the American West, which currently convert to Mexico, England and the USA irrespective of whats going on in the game.

    Maybe have an option to merge or not to merge nations.

    I was playing the randomly generated scenario mod at a friend's house and it was running fine with maximum nations generated even on his rather modest computer.

    Just a thought. Converting all nations would add so much more of an "alt history" flavour.

    EDIT: The generated nations included the New Nations ones, which was a significant increase over the standard HOI3 nations, I believe.

    One thing we can do once we have the province id's completely done is either start work on a Victoria 2 to AoD/Hoi3 conversion, question is which one should we support first.

    I'm going to vote for HOI3 if for no other reason that that's what I'd prefer but I also think the HOI3 sandbox model is much better suited to a mega-campaign than an event driven engine.

    Doomsday is quite sandbox as well, and has better diplomacy options than HoI3. Events are not part of the Abyss and Armageddon scenarios, for example.
    Most supporters of the Oslo Accords insisted that this agreement would solve all existing problems.
