SCENARIO/MOD:

The UMP (Ultimate Multiplayer Project) will be used for this game. For those that do not know, the UMP is a mod that tries to balance gameplay for multiplayer purposes. This mod uses the 3.1 WATK map. The scenario being played will most likely be 1453 scenario.

LINK (UMP for For The Glory) - http://www.filefront.com/17262175/UMP_1_0.rar
LINK (UMP for EU2) - http://www.filefront.com/17284558/UMP_v1_00_EU2.rar

HOW TO INSTALL:

Unpack the UMP_1_0.rar file into the mod folder inside For The Glory. Patch 1.2 required!

And do not forget you need the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package in order to play multiplayer!

HOW TO JOIN THE GAME:

Currently the roster is full but if anyone decides to join the game (in case someone leaves, for example), he must be a nice and reliable person. For those that have doubts or a certain level of dificulty understanding what that means, please, read the following, otherwise, skip it:

“Nice” means you are generally well mannered. This has nothing to do with a devious and treacherous playing style. Here is a short list at a deeper level:
1) No insults toward another player, unless done in a way that is clearly a joke
2) No accusing a player of cheating unless you have strong evidence
3) No rudeness toward fellow players
4) You may make any comment you wish on an opponent’s activity in the game as long as that activity is allowed. But you must of course make it without breaking item 1-3 above. Thus you may call him a backstabber, a warmonger, etc. Any such statement in it self cannot be interpreted as an implication that your opponent is doing something morally wrong because for game actions we have no moral dimension. They only have a legal dimension, either they are allowed or they are not allowed.
5) There is no difference between “kings” and “players” in this game. We have no RP although you may do that in your AAR. But any statement that refers to a king of a nation is equal to one directed at the one playing that nation.
6) If according to the GMs anyone breaks the “nice” rule and the victim asks for an apology they must give one.
7) This list is not complete. If there is a an issue that comes up that has not been addressed in these rules, it will be resolved by the GMs.

“Reliable” means that once you sign on you will dedicate yourself to the game. You are not expected to quit the game merely because you become bored for a reason such as the game going badly for you or that you lose your interest for EU in a more general sense. If you know you have a weak character and often allow yourself to avoid doing your duty towards your fellow gamers (or indeed humans in general), then this is not your game.

P.S: Please note that although it is not necessary to have ICQ to join this game, it is highly recommended that you install it and create an account for yourself so that you can speak with other players in order to perform diplomacy more easily. You can download ICQ here and in case you do not know, ICQ is an instant messaging program just like MSN messenger.

RULES:

For the Glory is relatively new and to avoid the possible abuse of exploits or bugs, the GMs reserve their right to modify the rules as the game goes on to ensure playing quality.

BASIC RULES:

1. Be nice and reliable - as defined in the post above.

DETAILED RULES:

1. If you are vassalised by another human:

a) you must stay as a vassal at least 20 years (unless the vassalizer allows a break from the vassalization earlier)
b) you cannot enter any other alliance than that of your master
c) you must accept a proposal of TA/MA from your master
d) you cannot start a war or join a war without consent from your master
e) you cannot give MA to any power without your overlord's consent
f) apart from that you may do anything you want

2. There's a forced peace rule to prevent eternal wars:

Case 1: War between two nations.
If one side manages 99 warscore, the loser is at -3 stability and the war has been going on for at least 5 years, the winner can force peace with a stab-hitting peace offer.

Case 2: War between an alliance of 2 or more versus 1 nation (gang).
For any separate peace, see case 1.
If the alliance leader wants to force peace for the alliance against the 1 nation, he requires 99 alliance warscore and 99 warscore of his own (separately).

Case 3: War between 2 alliances of 2 or more nations.
For any non-alliance peace between two nations, see case 1.
For any alliance to separate nation peace deal (for any member of the other alliance, even leader), see case 2.
If the winning alliance's leader wants to force-peace the whole other alliance, he needs 99 warscore for his alliance on the other alliance and 99 warscore of his own against the losing alliance leader. It is the losing leader's stability that is taken into consideration.

3. You are not allowed to break truces except when the truce is a result of a province swap deal in game. You are not allowed to dow AI alliance members or vassals of someone you have a truce with.

4. If you give an opponent MA in a peace treaty you are not allowed to revoke it until 20 years have passed

5. The land-naval slider will be reset to 5 between every session. You are allowed to make slider moves, but just be aware that you will lose them at the end of the session.

6. Using certain exploits is forbidden. See below for more details (please note that some of these exploits might no longer exist but just to be sure they will be included).

* Attacking an enemy fleet with pirates, or attacking with small fleets to hinder an enemy shore landing or loading of troops (you are only allowed to attack an enemy fleet to prevent either of these cases if your fleet is made of more than 1/5 of the enemy fleet).
* Releasing one or more vassals during wartime, to hinder an enemy.
* Force-burning of manufactories, i.e. repeated move and halt orders to an
army in a province with a manufactory.
* Using lag to your advantage. This includes (but is not limited to):
Sending lag colonists, building lag fortresses, sending lag missionaries,
using lag diplomats. (The exception is using lag diplomats to send cash).
* Declaring a 'fake' war on a country, with the aim to:
- Increase the stability of the nation you declare war on.
- Change the religion of a protestant or Counter-Reformed-Catholic
nation back to Catholicism before the Edict of Tolerance.
* Exploiting Simultanity:
- You are not allowed to break the deal regarding the sale of a province if you have already received cash and/or another province.
- You are not allowed to go back regarding a peace agreement if you already agreed to it in the public chat (private conversations do not count).
* Converting from Catholiscism to either Counter-reformed-Catholicism or
Protestantism and then switching back to Catholiscism before the Edict
of Tolerance.
* Trading maps with the AI.
* Sending loans to the AI.
* Signing a peace deal with the AI, that bankrupts it in the same day.
* Ceding TPs to reduce Bad Boy.
* Using MA to deprive another country of supplies without being at war with them
* Using MA to place 1 ship fleets in another country's ports in order to maintain them there for spying without the other person having any way of dislodging them (you might place or keep 1 ship fleets in another player's port IF you have the player's consent)

7. When unpredicted situations occur during the game the GM may, after consulting with the players, issue additional ad hoc rules to deal with the situation. A good example is if a human nation is AIed, the GM may then state whether this nation is on-limits or off-limits.

SPECIAL RULES:

1. Burgundy is considered offlimits.
2. If you write an AAr you will be allowed to chose from 2 possible rewards: either -0.5 inflaion or -2 badboy.
3. After every session a player will be able to chose from 2 possible rewards: either -0.5 inflation or -2 badboy. These must be written in the AAr/edit thread, or they shall not be implemented.
4. France is not allowed to march troops into provinces with Dutch culture to avoid possible exploitation of its military acess with Burgundy. This rule will only be in effect as long as Burgundy exists.
5. There is a rule regarding gold inflation. It shall be added soon to this post after things are clarified.

PENALTIES:

When someone breaks the basic rule or knowingly breaks another rule, then a disciplinary penalty may be issued. The most severe is disqualification if the player continually breaks the "nice and reliable" rule. In other cases no penalty will be handed out, we will merely, by the use of edits, decided upon by the GMs, try to restore equity making sure no innocent (including the AI) is harmed - the latter means that in practice in normal cases the one breaking the rule will end up losing from the error.

hmm with 2 people already excluding weekends, it will be hard for poor old dane :\

Tonio please state your prefered nations.

And Dane please tell us at what time (hours) you are able to play.

Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, 18:00 CET or later

Top 4, though still depending on the final mod: :)

1. France
2. Portugal
3. Ottoman
4. Venice

Btw, Steam and Impulse still hasn't released 1.2 yet. Might want to wait and see later about that.

As I said already the last time I tried to play FTG in MP it didn't work but with the new patch I am willing to give it another chance. First we'd have to test it though to make sure it doesn't crash once the game starts.

If it works I'd be interested to play either

Austria
France
Russia
England (if 1419)

Prioritys would be Austria and if we play a 1419 start England. Otherwise it doesn't matter. It might be noted though that I am more confident of beeing able to handle land powers.

If nessecary I'd also try out the Ottomans or Spain.
