The Malaccan Sultanate was ruled by a council of noblemen until the year 1436 when a young prince from Aceh, Muhammad Shah Gunungjati led an army of 6000 men into the palace and took over the leadership.

Sultan Muhammad Shah took the whole alliance southward and conquered Aceh and coronated his younger brother to rule it.

The reign of Sultan Muhammad Shah saw many minor battles in southeast asia and consolidation of power until his death in 1451.

Malacca, in 1461, was among the richest minor country in the known world and ready to take another step forward to be truly great.

Contributions by loyal vassals had helped the small nation grew richer each year.

The Fall of Bengal

The long war had finally ended ....

There won't be another major war until 1470 when Malacca started a new jihad against Malwa. Unknown to all, that battle will mark the beginning of a major power shift. It was after that battle, Malacca grew from a minor power to a nation that can finally impede Ming's expansion campaign.

That was also the year, Sultan Rajah Qasim passed away and succeeded by his son, Sultan Sulayman Shah.

The integration of Malwa in the sultanate brought new way of life and governance. Sharing border with Persia enabled the Malaccan to have a new perspective of life and thoughts...and they adopted a new lifestyle...

With that, the world seems to be a much bigger place than what they had previously thought ... there were many big fish like Ming!

Malacca's foray to East Africa and troop withdrawal from North India was not without cost. While engaged in the battle with the Swahili's tribe in Africa, Deccan waged war upon the Alliance in India. Deccan controlled very much all of South India - A mighty Indian Kingdom with 40,000 men.

Battling it alone in East Africa

Without Malacca's war leadership, the Alliance was unwieldy giant. Even with 69000 men, the war was won by a little margin and at great cost. Upon signing the peace treaty, rebellions rose from every provinces. Bihar and Orissa lost much of their lands to rebels who went on and founded their own kingdom.

News had reached the Sultan that the Ming empire was going restless and envious of Malacca's success. As war was eminent, the Sultan was considering of releasing Champa from the alliance as a buffer from Ming while he prepared for the coming major war.

Ming will fall! but not now..

Good AAR! Malacca is my favorite East Asian country. But if you can take a tip from a lurker, it would be to stretch it out a bit. And do more of that in-character stuff from the beginning.

Sure, BootOnFace... Just caught up with the fun stuff..will slow down and do more writing..It is quite fun now that Malacca is Muslim-Tech.

It was a rainy April afternoon in 1489 when the half-dead message boy came.

"Your Majesty, I came bearing an urgent message from the King of Bihar. The Sultanate of Decca had declared war on us. We plead your assistance. Please save us." said the message boy, coughing as he continued. "The Deccan had 40,000 men marching toward Bihar and they were 10 weeks away when I left Bihar."

"By God, people. Give this boy some water!" said Sulayman as he helped the boy on his feet. "Go back to your king and tell him that the Sultan of Malacca had heard his plead and honor his pledge of protection."

Sulayman turned to his court officials and generals. "Send out a Call to Arms to all our vassals and teach the Deccan that it does not pay to mess with one of us."

"You!" boomed the Sultan as he pointed at one of the court official. "Prepare the war room. We are going to war."

The combined army of 45,000 men marched across the hilly province of Nagpur. The Deccan Sultan still sored over the previous losses brought with him a much bigger army with Gujarat and Kashmir as allies.

The Decaan Sultan underestimated the strength and unity of the Malaccan Alliance. In a matter of weeks, the Malaccan Alliance had assembled over 75000 men in defense of Bihar.

While the main bulk of the army fought at the front, Pattani and Pegu sailed their battle forces south of the Deccan Sultanate to lay havoc upon the mighty Indian Sultanate.

Chained from wrist down, Deccan Sultan was dragged out of the dungeon and onto courtyard for all that had gathered to see.

Sultan Sulayman sat on a high chair as he watched the once mighty king brought forth. On his right side, sat the Kings, Emirs and Sultans of his vassals and on his left side, sat his generals and court officials.

"And so today, Deccan laid ruins because of you!" said Sulayman. "Let that be a lesson for all to know that the Alliance is no weakling."

In 3 short years, Deccan was no more.

The Deccan Sultanate's Invasion was just one of the many wars that Malacca and her Alliance had to face off for many years to come.

Before that year ended, three Great Powers declared war upon the Alliance. Expecting to find Malacca weakened by the Deccan's Invasion, Castilles and the Papal States invaded from the north. Portugal took the opportunity to declare war a few months after Castilles. France declared war 2 weeks after Portugal.

For the first time, the Alliance was outnumbered by 4:1. The war continued to last for almost a hundred years that ended in a stalemate. It was a blessing for the Alliance that the Malaccan Navy was strong enough to repel the invaders.

In 1567, the monarchy was abolished in favor for a noble republic. Every 8 years, the nobles from the Alliance were elected into office. The young Republic saw many years of war and reformation. The alliance flourished and grew.

In the late afternoon of the year 1596, a young and truly remarkable aristocrat by the name of Sulayman Badr was elected to lead the Alliance.

Of the many initiatives that he championed, the decision to let the common people to stand for leadership office marked the beginning of a true republic.

*** So end Part One of this AAR ***

The story continues in part two - The Rise of Malacca II
