So close!
So UNBELIEVABLY close!

will Prawnstar make it this time? I hope so

on a different note, if you haven't already,
I think you should try Minecraft after you finish this insane WC,
there's plenty of gravel there... ;) :D

Let's hope that Portugal runs into some colonial rebels too once you've decimated their troops! :D

I hope that Quebec survives the WC! :)
:)
I'd say something...about cheese eating but
then I remember the Chaudiere's and Van Doo's;)

And back to topic, PrawnStar
YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finish the AAR, even if you don't conquer the world:)

Yes there are a lot more provinces in north America than back home in Europe for Portugal. That'll exercise your little grey cells. A definite roadblock on the way to a WC.

I thought you'd removed GB from Europe, but there's a lone hold over.
Shame about Quebec gaining more provinces. Ensure Quebec does not survive.

More wars...

Well done. So close, so very close....
Also, I fear I have failed to award you another
Lord Strange Cookies of British Awesomeness
for producing another interesting, funny and original AAR.

Indeed :D

Theres literally mountains of gravel! :eek:o It gets anoying after a while though :eek:o

Ps: Almost there, but you probably won't be able to take down the rest of north america before end game

I am still reading fairly early part of this AAR. You surely post a lot, that's good for me since I don't have to wait for an update. :)

I would like to ask a question. Do you think it is possible to WC, or at least conquer Europe, as an Asian country without ever westernizing?

FEEDBACK

anweRU - I'm hoping the A/L rebels don't turn up until 1820! I'll meet them soon enough as I'll try Vicky 2 after this game.

Tmac - Troop numbers have been steadily rising - the limiting factor will be getting enough wars with Portugal.

Johan11 - And still three decades to go! I'll probably get closer than the Iroquois AAR but not as close as the French one (I was only 1 province/2.4BB short there).

Mico94 - I really don't know, Portugal's capital shift has caused me massive problems. NOt sure about Minecraft - if I want to play something insanely hard I play ZangbandTK.

Enewald - Good idea, I might just do that :D

Malurous - Level 5 forts, rebels take an eternity.

sad king billy - No Minecraft for me.

Kebekoi - But it won't be a world conquest if they survive...

blsteen - Don't worry I'll finish the AAR. After all the effort so far (i.e. I've played or wrote or posted most days since I started the thread last summer) I definitely intend to finish.

Chief Ragusa - You're absolutely right it will take some planning to maximise my chances of eliminating Portugal - the others look pretty straightforward. I could do without having to think too much though - somehow I've volunteered (despite my personal motto 'Never volunteer') to do all the thinking behind how we rebuild my department's service offering from the ground up - both the commercial high level stuff with sales collateral (and I've a nasty feeling I'll be internal roadshowing this in the spring/summer - death by powerpoint) and all the detailed scoping, process documents and reporting outcomes. Still the difference is a job doing new and interesting cahllenges or a job essentially overseeing and reporting on other people's data entry.

Lord Strange - Yay cookies! Thank you

Avindian - Thanks but I'm sure any of us could do this - it's all a matter of patience.

poloport - It'll be difficult on Portuguese North America but maybe just maybe.

highsis - Thanks for dropping by - this should be around 10-12 hours of your life wasted - hope you can read at work ;) There'll be around 110 chapters by the time I finish and that'll be around the end of the month.

WC as an Asian without Westernising - I don't know about the specifics of HttT or DW but for Vanilla/NA/IN then Ming and Japan definitely. Looks like a nice challenge for one of the warfare optimisation specialists. I'd be interested in what naggy has to say on this point.

Chapter One Hundred

The update starts in the usual manner, there’s a revolt in Jiangsu. But there’s no point wasting time…

War with Japan - February 1790

2mhbjsw.jpg

Japan has no allies but I was warned by Milan and Castile. I expect to annex OPMs Japan and Milan in this war and push Castile hard in the Americas. Mainland Iberia looks barely defended, the screenshot shows the Castilian army lined up on the Mexican border instead. There’s no revolt at the news although Xishuan Banna converts! Maracaibo does revolt in March even though the early exchanges have gone well.

Peace with Japan - March 1790

The most easterly non-Horde settlement is now Cyprus. After the relative quiet of the last few months April erupts in rebellion; Charcas, Kii, Curacao, Dendi and Alicante. May’s a bit better with only three uprisings; Ilheus, Maracaibo and Quijos.

Battle of Atakapa - June 1790

2dv1kqq.jpg

This has been the only battle of real note so far. I had dreadful rolls so my General just about saved the army from destruction. Lipan and Chiquitas rebel at the news. By July it’s time to expand the fighting…

War with Venezuela - July 1790

34xi7it.jpg

Marches, Peten and Tadimekket revolt.

Simplifying the map - 25th August 1790

w1vajn.jpg

Changsha cores as September starts. Caracas, Tlaxcala and Huichol revolt that month as does Peten soon after.

Milan annexed - October 1790

j7ap36.jpg

Trent converts; the modern Horde seems to be letting standards slip. Brakna revolts in November, a thousand rebels camped outside a Level 5 fortress are not a concern. Brunei cores in December.

Gabu and Arica greet 1791 with rebellion. I also get the ‘Corruption’ event and take the 3 points of inflation option rather than losing a level of stability. Panic ensues in February when there’s a French uprising on St Helena… Calm resumes as it’s one regiment of rebels and a level two fortress. Cumbria and Gobir rebel in March - in Cumbria the rebels are Mexican nationalists

Peace with Canada - April 1791

xpn2hl.jpg

Peace with Great Britain - April 1791

wjx3z8.jpg

I’m still at war with the USA and Quebec but without borders in common I expect the war to end soon. Yavapai rebels. Achaea cores in May and Wolof rebels. The Summer and Autumn see rebellions in Barbados, Uruguay, Tlaxcala, Zacatecas, Navajo, Salinan and Ulster. November starts with four cores in Southern India and it’s time for peace with Castile. My armies in the Americas have completely ran short of infantry and are bogged down in siege races against the Castilians trying to reclaim occupied provinces.

Peace with Castile - November 1791.

This is a far from ideal treaty but it does put a lot more land in my hands and sets me up for the next round of wars. Another minor in North America means more diplomatic possibilities. Kachin converts and there are revolts in Lincoln, Connaught and Bungo. December brings a wave of cores in former Mutapan lands. There are also uprisings in Friuli, Caracas, Tumbes and Cumana.

January 1792 and four more cores arrive courtesy of some long forgotten victory over the French. Belize and Shinano revolt.

War with Sweden - February 1792

wlvvdl.jpg

There’s a series of revolts throughout the spring and into summer; Galicia, Braganca, Musashi, Glamorgan, Chaco Boreal, Sayultecas, Wichita, Guachichil, Tlingit, Damagaram, Tangiers and Pehuenmapu.

By June my American stacks have mostly rebuilt and I’ve transferred one of the three 32 regiment stacks from Iberia to Louisiana.

War with Haiti - June 1792

bjbsxe.jpg

Haiti was allied to Cherokee and France and guaranteed by Portugal and Castile. That is not the war leader I expected! The predictable revolts this month are in Mojave, Schwyz, Chiquitos and Huanuco.

Berg converts at the end of July. I accept a white peace offer from the USA ending the Venezuelan war. September has rebellions in Tumbes and Comanche.

Peace with France - September 1792

op8p0.jpg

France is now an OPM! The province next to Alaska is the last non-Horde province on the west coast of North America. The next month brings rebellions in Eidsiva, Oeiras and Arapahoe. Sayultecas rebels in October and then December brings revolts in Omaha and Arkansas.

Friuli and Worms convert in Spring 1793. Karankawa rebels in February and Tonkawa a month later.

Peace with Sweden - May 1793

2rpwo7b.jpg

Made a bit of a mess of the screenshot here but I’ve grabbed another chunk of West Africa and Sweden’s remaining Caribbean possessions. Over the summer there are rebellions in Brakna, Tehuelmapu, Idah, Barinas, Barbados, Yorkuts, Campeche and Charcas. Haiti is annexed in September.

War with Gotland - October 1793

ksq5h.jpg

Aleut, Harima and Fernando Po revolt during the month. November brings rebellions in Verona and Copiapo. The year ends with the conversion of Hsenwi.

  • Vs. Cherokee, Portugal and Castile I’m at +42 war score
  • Vs. Sweden and Gotland I’m at +23 war score

Rebel Count = 6142 (+82)
Rebels = 29,383,000 (+212,000)

----------

Such weakness - no revolts at the start of wars? Why, back in my grandpappy's day, we walked 50 miles uphill to revolt! In the snow!

And we were grateful.

You can only get so far on gratitude.

You've got the measure of Castile. I suspect they will be shorn of their american provinces in a separate peace, before you use 100% warscore against Cherokee to reduce Portugal's holdings in Europe, West Coast America and the Caribbean into revolt-friendly Horde territory.

I suspect you're going to try to force a capitol shift for the 8PM GB by taking the provinces surrounding London.

I note the passing of Scotland, Mexico, Venezuela, Japan, Haiti and Milan. France is now a OPM.

I assume Gotland will survive, for now and the Swedes will lose Greenland and more west african provinces. I suspect you'll leave them connected so that they can annex KB, if so inclined. Meanwhile, get that great man practising his party piece.

I tihnk I see the glimmer of a plan to eliminate the Portuguese fleet by removing its ports -isolate the new captial and hopefully force a capital move. Then take Conoy and force release the Huron, amongst other gains.

The Club Med of Cyprus, Malta, Sardinai and Corsica offer further opportunities to reduce Portugal, though maybe not all before the next TSC.

How much warscore do these portuguese provinces cost? Are they a lot cheaper when making the deal with Cherokee instead?

And I just realized : Fairly soon, you'll have to fight the poor Iroquois

EDIT : Btw, ONE HUNDRED chapters, that's impressive! Let's celebrate!
