Every time I start the game it crashes the instant I hit the un-pause button. I have installed version 1.4; the Core, and then put in the fixes too. What have I done wrong?

Is your AoD from Steam ?
Does vanilla Aod still work ?
-> Checksum KXOS ?
Does it crash only with a specific nation or with other nations, too ?
Is your AoD installed into program files or outside of it?
-> relevant for Vista and later OS, do not use these folders with those OS
