Hello! I am Lighthearter. Memorize the name. It shall be important later;).

This is Crossroads of Destiny. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, Realpolitik is a type of AAR created by the great TRP where you, the forumites, create political parties and then vote in elections to swear in a ruling party/coalition for the nation. This ruler could seize the reins of power and rule with an iron fist or chose to form a senate of all parties, so vote wisely.

All parties will respond to issues presented by the game host (Lighthearter), and the ruling party will either put their policy into action or heed the advice of other parties and figures and follow their course. Again, chose wisely, for bad decisions or strong opposition on the forums to the ruler could lead to me penalizing our nation in-game.

I(we:D) am playing the USA on the Kaiserreich mod.

No other modifications are used. I will be the first leader and the first elections will come in June 1936.

Here are the rules:

- I as host reserve the right to veto any action any player wishes to undertake: To consolidate the stability of the AAR, to stop interference with the normal functioning of the thread or simply because I feel like it. Don't mess with The Man.

- Rule #1 of Realpolitik: Democracy is absolute. Even when the Nazis or communists are elected into office, they will still have to answer to the opposition and face elections every year.

- Any member is free to establish or join a political party of his choice. A member can only be member of one party at a time, although he is free to switch allegiance whenever he sees fit.

- On Political Parties: there are now some more limitations and options placed upon them then TRP has yet envisioned. Every party must claim a Home City where they rule - the same city cannot be claimed by two parties. The city immediately receives 5 IC, 2 infra and 2 MP. The national capital (Washington DC) can never be claimed as a Home City.

- I am going to ask everyone to use their own nicknames at all times when playing or in story updates they write. This is to avoid confusion.

- Every in-game year an election shall be held, the first election will be in about one-two weeks. During the week(s), I'll grant the right to all parties to organize, unite and campaign to get as many people as they can to vote. Note that everyone registered on the Paradox forums is eligible to vote.

- Parties are allowed to form coalitions. At the end of an election, all votes are tallied and the party or coalition with the largest % of votes wins the election.

- The parties that did not win will be sent to opposition, where they can comment on the policy of the leading faction. I will monitor opposition closely, and the leading players have to understand that failing to appease the public will lead to me penalizing America in-game (dissent, division loss, damage to provinces). It is therefore very important to listen to the public, who can demand re-elections as well.

- If the opposition is strong enough, they can call for a General Strike, a Desertion From the Front, or if things get REALLY ugly, an Armed Revolution,

- The winning party or coalition will come into office the in-game update after the elections. They will have to put forward four leading figures for the government: A president, vice-president, military minister and domestic minister. These four people, backed up by their party members, will be responsible for making decisions in-game. I will PM/call for in the thread the leader personally before each play session, where he has to dictate to me the course the US takes. You can place others in government as well, up to a maximum of ten people.

- An independent(non-party) can run for any position save that of the President/Vice-President of the Republic. To run for office, simply state as much in the thread.

- You may write story updates if you wish that center on the events occurring currently in the game, but depending on the situation you may be asked to move the story to another thread. This is the keep the thread clear.

- Every reader (including players) has two votes in the elections. Putting in two votes for a single party is not allowed. However, if parties want to play it smart they'll seek coalition with a like-minded party so players can put two votes into their front.

- The host (Lighthearter) retains full rights to ban any party that has violated these rules. Spamming parties, parties using a complaint generator, parties inciting hate, parties that are found obtrusive for the normal functioning of this thread and parties that just flat out get on my nerves will be banned from the elections indefinitely.

- Please refrain from PMing me for every Realpolitik-related issue. Alternatives are using the profile visitor comments, or simple commenting in the thread.

- You cannot change your vote once it is cast, but you can withdraw your party from a coalition and join another one mid-elections.

- If you do not hold a governmental position at the moment, you may Enlist in the US Armed Forces - your character will start at rank 2(Lt. General/Vice Admiral) with 2 Skill and 3 traits that you may choose. If you choose "Old Guard" you start with twenty XP. You may exchange a trait for either 3 skill or 30 experience. You must also supply me with a picture or give me an existing picture to give your character.

- By voting, joining a party or performing any other form of interaction with this AAR, you declare that you have read and understood these rules to the letter. I don't want to be a jerk guys, so keep it clean!

That about sums it up. I'll reserve one post after this for the party listing and one after that for the ruling entities/election status, then feel free to post parties or go independent and simply comment.

Elections:

Current? NO.

Administrations:

Previous: None

Current: Lighthearter Administration

Opposition Strength Gauge:

Current: Insignificant . Leader: None

- Insignificant

- Weak

- Minor

- Moderate

- Noticeable

- Fairly Strong

- Strong

- Dangerous

- Murderous

Opposition Actions:

Call for Reelection - Action that any party leader can take. Calls on the President to hold a reelection. I may step in depending on the circumstances, however, for one side or the other.

General Strike - Basic action. Must be declared in thread by opposition leader. Based on the strength of the opposition, a certain number of productions projects will be selected for coin flips. Heads = get off scat-free. Tails = shut down indefinitely. Number of projects depends on opposition strength.

Impeachment - Advanced action. Must be called for in thread by opposition leader. If enough party leaders support the motion, the President is removed from office and replaced with the VP.

Call for Desertion - Advanced action. Opposition leader must announce the call in the thread. Some units may or may not be disbanded. Number of units depends on opposition strength.

Armed Revolution - VERY advanced action. Must be declared in thread by opposition leader.

Then I will create a revolt faction named after the coalition that called for the revolution in the first place and they will duke it out with me and the US government.

Armed Revolution Concepts:

Victory:

To win, the Rebels must seize Washington AND the Home City of the President's party. The government must seize the Home Cities of all the party leaders who supported the revolution. The Revolutionary capital will be placed in the Opposition Leader's Home City.

Foreign Aid:

Sometimes other nations might offer to assist one side or the other in the civil war. They will provide free units and resources, but they might say you "owe them one" later whether you're winning or not.

- Lighthearter - Let the game begin! Post as you will!

COMMUNIST PARTY of the USA (CPUSA)

I, Comrade Hastatii have established the Communist Party of USA.

Our Headquarters lies in Des Moine, Iowa.

We have realised that the world need a strong communist country and we've decided to make the USA a Role Model for everyone out there that loves the equality and love that only communism can give you

What we want:

*Spread the glorious Communism to other countries, starting with north america, if they wont accept it peacefully we'll have to enforce it with military to ensure the people's safety.

*Men and women are equal and both have to serve 2 years in the military to gain full citizenship, you have to serve more in case of war and always be ready to serve your country.

*We share everything starting with 45% tax. We do this to ensure that everyone is equal and no one shall have to live on the street. We also do not want anyone to be much richer than everyone else.

*Anyone that wants to live in the USA shall have to serve 3 years in the military and take a language test and talk to an administrative person about why they want to live in american and how they'll be able to help our glorious Communism to survive.

*The top leaders on companies shall not get much higher income than the average worker, at the most 10%, and you cannot be a CEO longer than 5 years after that you will have to change with someone else.

*We believe that everyone should be able to choose their own religion but that religion should stay out of politics.

*(More will come as we gain members and evolves)

SYNDICALIST WORKERS' PARTY OF NORTH AMERICA (SWNA)

We believe in the true values of equality, freedom and socialism. The plague of Capitalism that is holding our country back must be eradicated from the face of America, and a new nation of organised workers and trade unions established. However, we are strongly opposed to the authoritarian stance that many Socialists and Communists have. We fight for free and equal Democratic Syndicalism rather than oppressive, Authoritarian Communism. We believe that the Union of Britain and the Commune of France are shining examples of Syndicalism at it's finest, and want to create a society similar to their's. The British and French could be very valuable allies and will certainly aid us in eradicating the capitalist, monarchist scum in Canada and Germany. Join the Syndicalist Worker's Party, join the revolution!

why do we need more parties when we already got a good and functional communist one?

Because 2 is better then one! And how much fun is winning if the capitalists don't defend themselves, therefore showing the world how pathetic they really are?:D

There is no need for such a humiliation, we already know they will succumb to our righteous crusade! But if that is what you wish, then that's what you'll get.

I hereby declare the formation of the Notional Secessionist Federation of the West.

The Eastern United States is falling prey to the evils of syndicalism. Now, if the Eastern United States want to engage in syndicalism, that's all right, it's their right. We aren't opposed to democracy. But when the failures of syndicalism become clear, the Eastern United States will not admit to it. They will instead engage in ruinous taxation policies, the high tax burden which will fall onto the heads of us sensible Westerners.

Our American government has, quite frankly, trampled on states' rights, leaving us prey to the horrors of powerful and incompetent governments. If one state wants to engage in syndicalism, that's their right, but why should other states have to pay for that failed experiment? It just doesn't make any sense, yet we have tolerated this insanity for far too long. The time has come for change, and change is what we will strive for.

We call for the federal government to either recognize states' rights, especially the right to opt out of syndicalism, or to allow the Western states to secede from the Union. The federal government must listen to our pleas if it wishes to avoid a second Civil War.

Home City: San Fransisco, CA.

I ain't busy, so I'm founding my own party:

Norsefire-logo.png

Hereby, I declare the formation of the National Populist Worker's Party of America (NPWPA)

From our headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia we'll spread our message:

- We believe in god, and we believe that god created all persons as equals. Therefore, we want to "unite" the Americans. Nobody shall be discriminated because of his religion, gender or race. We must stop discrimination and segregation and unite America.
- There is a enormous threat from left-wing agitators, who want to destroy American values such as freedom, justice and honesty. All agitators or sympathisants of left-wing parties shall be send to prison and all parties shall be banned. And we shall use our power to destroy global syndicalism, to free the world from the syndicalist strangle.
- The central government needs more control of America. If America is to be reformed and improved, the government needs the ability to control these reforms.
- We need a large army, but we can't force our people into fighting for the USA. But we can't offer them high salaries. Therefore, the US armed forces need to become a professional army, so only the best people serve in the military. Also we have to invest much money to improve the structures and equipment of the army.

...great. The problem of all-chiefs, no-Indians.

Sod it. Liquid Snake, I am willing to work with your party to form an anti-syndicalist front, but there is ONE reservation I have. I am in favor of states' rights and not of increased government control. We could hammer out the details later, but a strong, central government is exactly what causes tyranny.

I also disagree with banning parties and sending left-wing agitators to prison. That being in violation of the Constitution. Far better to ignore their agitation, IMHO.

Maybe we can discuss about the areas where a strong central government is needed, and about the areas where state's rights are important. The NPWPA thinks, that a strong central government is necessary in terms of economy, foreign relations and armed forces. Especially in regard of the first point, a strong central government is necessary. While this doesn't mean nationalisation, it means that the government must encourage companies to invest their money in America, to create new jobs, to build new factories and so on.

But state's rights are important to fight the syndicalist disease. The states can handle them the best, because they are more flexible and have more knowledge about local particularities. We can't ignore the threat from the left, because if we don't watch them closely enough, they might stir up the Americans to rebel. And that's something that isn't tolerable.

Rebelling is already illegal, no matter if it is the left or the right doing it. Stirring up rebellion...well...I understand the logic. The law has to be defined narrowly though, it has to be used to stop subversion, not suppress dissent.

I do agree with the country having a common defense, in terms of armed forces and foreign policy. I am a little iffy about having the government actually directly spending money to decide what industries get favored or not, however, these investments doesn't infringe on states' rights directly. I would rather have the government decide to hand money over to the states, and let the states decide how best to use that money, rather than politicians who are not at all familiar with the state in question. A combination of the two approaches might seem to be the most useful.

Big business needs direct involvement from the federal government. Infrastructure programs for example are most effective, when they are organized from Washington. Of course, the states can also have some involvement in economy affairs. For example in terms of small businesses, or local farmers.

One thing should be said: We need to balance government involvement and state's right pretty carefully. But as the NPWPA need political allies to fight those damn syndie sissies, I would be happy to form an agreement with the NSFW.
