The Knautschlings - part 9
The troubles of youth
Despite not even a single battle being concluded with the Russians Denmark is forced to
hand over the island of Gotland to the Russians since it has very little means to defend itself.
Faste is absolutely appalled by the infamy of the Russians.
Much rather would he hand over land to the Lotharingians who have fought well
and especially fought at all, instead of just blackmailing exhausted and defenceless countries.
At the beginning of August 1134 the bureaucrats finally finish up the paperwork needed to install Faste
as the rightful King of Mercia and Eire
and after the coronation ceremony Faste sends the Don* family into exile.
They find shelter in the land of the dastardly, as henceforth the Kingdom of Russia shall be called
in this story.
The King of Russia immediately grants the Don* family authority over rather large tracts of land in
the Baltics and also over an island that goes by the name of Gotland.
Yes my dear readers, it pains me as much as you to see poor Faste humiliated
this much, lets just hope that he will at least learn some valuable lessons out of this.
OOC: This is a custom event that we modded in and as you see it is quite expensive (option B is even more expensive).
And the MTTH on that event is just sick, I got it 7 or 8 times in 6 years.
When it comes to politics Denmark now enters unusually quiet times
which gives us a bit of room to focus more on Faste´s personal life.
Before we start with that there is still the unfortunate matter of the death of
Marshal Janko, though, which abruptly ends the line of Danish Marshals from the Ragusa dynasty.
Let us hope their successors will lead the Danish army to comparable successes.
Although being a warrior at heart like Janko, Faste does not feel ashamed to use his
position as king to fulfil his own pleasures.
And as such it is no surprise that upon being old enough he does not
marry a young woman from a powerful dynasty as his advisors tell him to,
but instead one that he expects to suit his personal needs which would be mainly
-to cut to the chase-
to satisfy him sexually at any given time.
Elisabeth von Nordheim is
In fact she is almost a bit too perfect for that and does not stop at satisfying just Faste.
Or at least that is what the rumours at court are about.
What is not a rumour though, is that Faste does not discharge her of her wifely duties during her starting pregnancy.
And here my dear readers ends this chapter, and for the future most of it is insignificant.
But we do have to keep one thing in mind obviously.
