So far he is set to retire in 1939. But I feel it would make sense if his retirement was actually triggered by the Nanking Massacre event, in fact. But if we take that into account we'll lose some mod compatibility...

EDIT: btw at all the downloaders: IDIOT NOTE: you should add the 'fix' package!

Right...I wrote those events based on the previous version(before applying the fix) :( Well the corrected version is in the CORE thread anyway.

hi

i dont know or do not recall if these things were linked (nanking and Japan). i doubt that the IJA high command cared a lot and if probably they probably cared more about PR thingies.

anyway as he was already 60 he could retire (at least most french would certainly agree with me? ;) )

Great job, bestmajor! :)

I'm a b&w fan, too, so it's good to see that you haven't mixed these with your coloured pics. It's a little bit sad that your thread got so few posts but luckily the number of downloads tells us a different story. :)

thanks Fürst. but this one was a 'research' project and if you do both (research and paint) at the same time you'll never be ready. so i'll always start those things in b&w.

Hey bestmajor, can your Japan improved pack be used for current version of CORE for AoD? I'm wondering why this pack of yours isn't in CORE by default or it already is?

hi hister,

yes i used to play CORE with this one without any problems but iirc CORE uses vanilla JAP or an other mod.

i made a few changes in the CSV but these are in my colour pack (bottom of package).
same goes for ROM, btw. (although for ROM, CORE has some better ministers)

Hey, sorry to nag but why hasn't your Japan project been implemented into CORE? Aren't you still an active core member?

no i'm not a member of anything:D. as for the first part i dont think so.

CORE is a single ship modification, but incomplete IMO. naval warfare basically consists of three things: units, leaders and provinces, but CORE did only change the ships (screens). additionally they should have changed the ranks (eg captain, rear- , vice- and full admiral and skipping the militarily pointless rank of grand admiral) + increased the naval provinces to keep it realistic. but only one factor was altered so i think its a bit incomplete (still i like the idea, i just think its unfinished somehow).

EDIT: is there actually interest in an update? since i upped this i continued research but implemented a few changes only in the colour version. if yes i could add an update, but this will last a while.

well what you can do is install the normal japan (pics only) install the colour stuff and convert the paintings into b&w (there are very few colour pics for JAP, actually).
some wont have a frame, though.

Why dont you add my Japanese minister best?

Pictures are in my minister pack if you like to see them. The purpel color means that they are already in AOD.

Well we're seriously considering abandoning the single ship design in 0.6.0, as it remains a can of worms, however nice the idea of the single ship design ever was. The engine just isn't designed for it. So it should be a lot easier to implement the Major's work in future versions. And it actually might not be a bad idea to consider, though that's not just my decision. I know the high standards of your work... :)

i actually liked the idea a lot. its only that you need a lot more naval provinces and rewrite the whole admirals in the leaders CSV and establish new ranks for the navy leaders.
so unless you're really a nerd its impossible to implement 100%.

as for adding my work feel free to do so, just having both b&w and colour could lead to problems. i started in b&w and switched to colour - so the latest version for eg JAP or ROM
is in the colour package - i just dont have the time to update both versions.
(i have a strong feeling that the CORE ministers for ROM are better than mine, though)

Sorry for being a complete noob at this, but how in the hell do I get this pack to work? I extracted the files in the pack to my AoD/db folder, and then extracted the fix files there as well. But in the game all I get are portraits with question marks in them? I'm playing as Japan by the way...

I did the Tripartitepack to work easy enough. Is there some command I must activate for this pack to work? I'm patched to 1.07.

Thanks!

Oops, no this wont work,

- you have to extract the whole thing on your desktop
- go to the pics, and copy them (manually!) into .../AoD/gfx/interface/pics
- then you take the CSVs for leader and ministers and copy them (manually!) into .../AoD/db/leaders (and .../AoD/db/ministers)

then you do the same with the fix

sorry that this is not very professional, but i'm an amateur :) - patch doesnt matter, btw

EDIT: just in case you try other things from me - its always like that: extract to your desktop and take the things you want

EDIT2: just in case you are playing Nippon yourself, checkout this post: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?556653-Skins!&p=12776644&viewfull=1#post12776644
