Um, you might want to take a copy of the AoD folder and install it there. Unless you don't want to play the WW2 scenarios any more .
15 minutes left and the upload for the new beta is complete.

The Broken Star 0.40 'Sickle and Hammer' available for download

    http://www.filefront.com/15976679/TBS0.4Sickle.rar/

Doesn't yet include the correct cabinet for the U.S, I'll change that.

Link is also in the first post. RedPhalanx, update your sig.
E: And if you're wondering about the name, I hate timestamps in names like "The Broken Star 0.4 30-3-2010". So I prefer just names.

So are we now moving forward with incremental releases (.41, .42 etc) until we get to a playable .50?

    Musings on Navy:

Historically, the last battleships where built in the mid 1940's and retired for good around 1992 (The US brought a few back from retirement in the 80's, retrofitted them and used them in the Persian Gulf IIRC). So for BB's the chain might look like:

WW2 Era Battleship (Tech Date 1945)
Cold War Retrofitting (Tech Date 1965)
Late Cold War Retrofitting (Tech Date 1980)
Post Cold War Retrofitting (Tech Date 1995)
    Future Battleship (Tech Date 2015)

The middle three would just be attachments to existing battleships.

Then, if you'll allow me to copy from MDS, we'll have Aircraft Carriers (CV's), Amphibious Assault Ships (AAV's), Heavy Cruisers (CA's), Guided Missile Cruisers (CG's), Destroyers (DD's), Frigates (FF's), Submarines (SSK) and Nuclear Submarines (SSN).

What changes have you made between .3 and .4 ...i.e. any changes in the csv files?

Sounds like a good idea I was thinking about doing something like that for the light tanks when I start to tackle the Armor Tab tonight.

Looks reasonable enough...curious why you gave Woolsey DCI since he had that job IRL with Clinton, and was a Democrat. Sure there's not someone else with similar views who could have the job?

From what I can tell from Wikipedia, Woolsey has bipartisan support and had a very limited relationship w/ Clinton. He also endorsed McCain in 2008 and has a neoconservative foreign policy. It might be reasonable to swich him out with Robert Gates (who headed the CIA in the last 2 years of the Bush administration).

We are allowed to use MDS stuff, but I don't like copying too much. But if it's about techs, the localisation will most likely be changed.

I read the Wiki article first I agree that he's a reasonable choice for the Republicans as well, but my main concern was why Bush (the ex-CIA man he was) would appoint a non-Party man to lead the CIA and that, after all, he served IRL, so why not shake things up a bit?

EDIT: Another thing that'd be interesting to know...are you planning MDS-style "reaction" events if an unlikely or different president is chosen? You know, affecting things like NAFTA (ratified in '94! We definitely need an event related to that!), sliders (eg., if Buchanan gets elected then an isolationist policy is enacted), foreign relations (again, isolationism if Buchanan or (possibly?) Perot are elected). Similar things should happen "on the other side" if more leftist Democrats/independents are chosen (eg., Brown). Environmental legislation and such. One other note, will we have an event related to the HillaryCare proposals if Clinton, Tsongas, or Brown are elected (though would Tsongas propose such a thing)? Or later political events?

Okay here's the .50 Version of Infantry Tech Tree Im planning on renaming the tech and the button along the lines of a conflict of the era at least up to 2010. Also Im planning on having a Secret Weapon Requirement for about the 2010 Infantry called Battle field Robots doing some research this is the time that robots are really starting to be seen in several western armies taking up some of the most dangerous roles. ALso I mist say I like the Backgrounds for the tech trees.Any comments or suggestions are welcome so without further ado.

Ok Initial Thoughts for the Armor

After Korea except in client states the Medium and Heavy tanks vanished from use leaving only the Main Battle Tank and the light tanks. So as you can see my first thought is to eliminate the Medium and heavy tanks from the tree altogether and the light tanks will exsist only as a brigade that according to modern doctrine you see attachable to light units such as Airborne and Air Cavalry. as before fell free to raise any question, comments or concerns.

Ok, let's see (Covering Infantry and Armor)

For the tech what about "Robot-Assisted Warfare" ?

For Calvary/Airborne etc, we have three types of units:

Guys that attack from the air (Paratroopers/Airborne)
Guys that travel via air but fight from the ground (Air Calvary)
Guys that travel via land vehicle and fight on the ground (Armored Calvary)

So Calvary might need to be split in two: One with higher attack/defense values and one with higher speed.

Mountain might be renamed "Special" to cover elite units that aren't necessarily "Mountain" troops.

I do not believe that regular artillery and rocket artillery where commonplace in the military citra 1990. At the very least rocket artillery can be removed, regular artillery can be shortened to fit another attachment on the tech tree. I would expand armored cars by 2.

I think the basic "unit" needs to be the Brigade, rather than the Division. The total size of most armies has shrunk significantly since WW2 and if we want an accurate OOB for the US in 1990, we'll only have about 10 units to play with if we use Divisions.

The Main problem I see from using the Brigade as the main unit is that in October 1990 the Soviet Union was according to my books fielding 140 active divisions. Even the Germans had 16 right after reunification. So at two to three brigades units to represent one real world division that's a lot of units. I'm not opposed to it but that should be a consideration. And as to towed Rocket Artillery well China Still fields the type 63 with its mountain divisions and has exported it to several other 2nd and third world nations.
