I always wondered this, but why is it that Adal has a monarchy but Ethiopia is just a tribe? Does paradox not know history? Ethiopia is one of the oldest monarchies in the world. Also them being a tribe makes it much more difficult to play them, when being African tech and Orthodox Christian already makes them hard tier hard.

Shouldn't they be an empire? Tribal i agree with you they weren't.

I really wish paradox had made them an empire, as well as added in a few more territories in east africa. Ethiopia was one of the four powers of the ancient world, you know. And it's ruling dynasty- the Solomonids- ruled on and off for almost three milleniums. That makes them even longer than the Hapsburgs and the Yamato.

Of course, I also wish Judaism and Sikhism were in the vanilla game. We can dream, I guess. Here's to EU4: Back to the Future.

Perhaps while nominally being a monarchy, Paradox felt that Ethiopia's government and realm was disorganized and weak and thus made them a tribal government to better reflect that?
