I have been playing HOI since its first incarnation. I thought HOI2 was much better than the first. HOI3 isn't great if you ask me. I have spent tons of time playing it, but it just isn't as fun as HOI2. So what do I want from HOI4?

1) Tech teams. They increased made it more interesting and helped me get immersed. Yes, they were broken. I would propose having tech teams that can change skill level and traits. So if you keep giving a team something to research, it will increase in skill. If you give a team something to research that it doesn't have the traits to do (say I keep having Porsche research carriers), it will slowly change what its traits are. Every time it develops a new trait, its skill level would decrease, but the more it researches, the more its skill would increase. It seems like a happy medium that would add flavor.

2) I think the right number of provinces would be somewhere between HOI2 and HOI3 levels. HOI3 seemed overwhelming in terms of micro. I liked having the AI control things for flavor sometimes, but often it just seemed like too much for a player to do all of the time.

3) I would love tank/truck factories, airplane factories, and naval IC. Then you would have each of those building specific models. Anytime you would change what it was building then there would be a stop in production and a slow gearing up time. Maybe you just research panthers, but panzer IIIs are flying off the line and even though they are a little old, you don't want to change production because you need the vehicles. I am not sure how this would work without being micro hell, but I think Paradox could figure it out.

4) Number 3 requires that there is manpower and equipment for units. I would like that separation a lot. So if you are blitzing the USSR, your tanks are falling apart. Maybe you aren't losing men, but you need to stop and get new vehicles.

5) Change the infrastructure around. I should be able to build a rail line or something to help supplies flow. Or just start with there being lines of high infrastructure on the map to symbolize train routes. Certain infrastructure junctions would then be much more important.

6) Air and Naval theaters. I should be able to give an air general six wings of four interceptors and tell him to protect my industry from the RAF. That should be doable!

7) On map convoys. I want to be able to escort them with a bunch of battleships. Why couldn't that happen?

8) The possibility of having overland supply routes require trucks or mules or something.

9) Supply dumps that move with HQs and are proportional. The Theater HQ should keep more supplies than the Corps HQ.

10) A "template redesigner thing" for changing the composition of starting troops. It is just too much work to do that. Or at least be able to merge everything into one division and then create new divisions from that.

I look forward to seeing what HOI4 is like.
