I say as I allways said: CK will be announced next week. They want to read these kind of comments. They are feeding on our comments. I WILL NEVER GIVE UP HOPE!

I do hope you are right. If we were being unreasonable in asking for CK2, I would think they would let us know, rather than stringing us along.

I don't share that optimism. If CK2 were planned for after Vicky 2, they'd have started on basic assets and compiling historical data for the game, already. It would be in enough of a conceptual state to announce.
Like they announced HoI3 before Rome was finished? And like they announced Victoria 2 before HoI3 was finished?
The chances of getting a CK2 announcement before V2 is finished have always been slim. I don't say it is impossible, but we will hardly get a CK2 announcement before V2 is released, at least not this early on (V2 will be released in Q3).

Only thing of interest which did happen during the PIC2010 was announcement of HoI3 patch. If it's a major patch then I might actually buy the game. The demo didn't impress me, but PI has the tendency to improve their games a lot after publishing.

Third party titles didn't really interest me at all. I'm member of this forum only because of the PI games.

Ok, the lack of a CK2 announcement is indeed disapointing...

That said I think it was probably a major event for Paradox on it's way to growing into a major gaming company.

The whole 1 annoucement per day was a bit...hmmm...forced. I would have been much more interested if there was a summary of the day instead of some of the less interesting announcements that were made.

Still...not even a bit of talk about CK2 is rather disapointing. At the very least I would have expected Frederik to come forward and tell us we are lunatics and dreamed about this announcement and it won't happen soon.

Magna Mundi is the only good thing we got from this event it seems.

The announcements were pretty underwhelming, but oh well. The stuff I'm most excited about (Vainglory of Nations) I knew about before anyway, so...

I didn't expect a new in-house game, but I was hoping for an add-on or another outsourced old engine game, like a refreshed Vicky or CK.

Dude! New website! Third-party games! Possible new info from the 'gaming media' at some point, maybe, when they can be bothered to publish a blurb between news about WW2 themed first-person shooters and MMOs!

C'mon, what's not to be excited about?!

I'm really disappointed. A freaking Paradox convention, and NO Paradox games, only games they publish. A whole announcement on the fact that PI has got a new web page that I can't even see what's changed on. It looked much like the last time I checked their main page, some months ago. Seriously, who cares? Magna Mundi was the sole ray of light. But no CK, no Vicky2 news, no Rome XP, no nothing.

Not realy that dissapointed realy. I would have expected a AoD/FtG type game at most, so Im only marginaly miffed. I think I saw someware that Paradox now makes more money on publishing then on their own titles, so as a company this convention was realy important. Yay for Paradox becoming the new Strategy First who burnt them and was their reason for getting into publishing in the first place

The thing is, I'm sure it was really exciting from Paradoxes point of view. I'm sure they spent a lot of time on the website. They got to hobnob with the press and government ministers(!) and dine out and have fun. They're making lots of money expanding their publishing arm with third-party stuff they're excited about.

But no new core games or expansion packs (CK2 was a dream, but I was hoping for at least a XP announcement) were announced, and we hoi polloi have to depend on the gaming media to feed us little tidbits when they can be bothered to focus on niche stategy games. Thus the whole thing seems a bit 'meh' to some of the hardcore fans, I guess.

Sure sometime in the next few weeks I'll be able to read a brief article on Victoria 2 at ACTIONGAMINGNEWS.COM written by someone who got to sit in on the presentation. Half of it will be recapping the basic concept of the 'strategy game' and 'Victoria'. Yawn. In this day and age the exclusive press soiree just seems a bit old fashioned. All the presentations should have been streaming live and then posted up on YouTube IMHO. That would have been much more exciting and interesting.

Sometimes I don't get posters on this forum.

Are you aware that almost ALL reviewers of strategy games for major sites have forum accounts here and have posted here. If people actually knew that there are famous reviewers that have mentioned to be "well, I am XXXX at your forums" and I go, well.. I know THAT name.

We basically had 20-30 discussions in deep details about game-mechanics in Victoria today and yesterday with press people. All working on articles for the next few weeks. You'll have enormously fun.

True. I know a person in RL who has written reviews about Paradox titles and who has been writing to these forums too. Once I asked that person to tell me how do you pick games for review and that person said that the one who is most fanboy of that particular genre writes the reviews and articles about the topic, because it doesn't help average gamer if someone whose favourite game is Super Mario writes review of Europa Universalis.

I don't know how they do it elsewhere, but around here most reviews and articles about the Paradox titles have been good (at least if you read those from PC gaming sites/magazines and not from Nintendo sites etc.).

You don't get that I'd rather see the presentation streaming directly then hear about it second hand?

I'm sure there will some good interview and stuff, and I'm looking forward to reading them. But I can understand why people might be disappointed by getting hyped up by news of 'BIG' announcement which end up being a patch, a new website, and some third-party titles, and we have to wait weeks while info dribbles out from gaming news sites.

I mean we're not in a deep depression or anything, just rolling our eyes a bit and feeling like we opened our christmas present and got socks from grandma.

    "some third party titles"?

Whats so bad about games like Commander, Lionheart or Magicka.. (or others we announced..) They all look to be absolutely awesome games.
