This is a final warning. Discuss with respect and civility. If we have to make one more mod post in this AAR, it will be the last one as it will be closed. It has gone on too long and with too many reminders from us and TRP. I will not single anyone out right now because there are too many of them. Yesterday's discussion was perfectly fine. Today's not so much - moving right back into the snark and sarcasm that has been specifically discouraged. If you cannot discuss with respect and civility, then do not post again in this AAR.

We've said it time and again- we want to see this AAR succeed. But we are really, really tired of having to remind the participants to behave like adults. That type of behavior may fly in other forums, but it does not in AARland. Enough.

Again - this is the last warning, folks.

A message from TRP

Well, the way things are going we are considering closing down Realpolitik ourselves. The intermission system sounded like a good compromise but r/l demands are going up by the day so we really can't commit enough time anymore to Realpolitik. We are still discussing internally, but it's very likely we've reached the finish line here.

To the players: You will have an announcement from us soon. To the mods: We will be in touch.

------

In the mean time, we have decided to change our policy from Paternal autocrat to National Socialist, and now to Zogist.
The recent spam and unrespectfull posts leave us no choice, anyone caught making inappropriate posts will be excluded from the next elections and banned from their respective party.

This will be our final warning, for next time, there won't be a realpolitik anymore, the choice is yours.

Thing is, you gave the players too much freedom. If it would be simplier, and less interactive, the discussions would dissapear. And so would the infractions.

Individual freedom in the way you interact with the AAR is what Realpolitik is about. The only thing we wanted in return was, and I quote us here

by playing in Realpolitik you have agreed that you have read these rules and that you understand what we expect of you. Common sence. Civility. Consideration and respect to your fellow players, the hosts, the moderators and the readers. Maturity.

An important announcement

We have reached internal parity. Effective from today, we (TRP) are officialy beginning the process to close Realpolitik. It was a great project which broke pretty much all conceivable records in terms of size, growth or general interaction of the audience with the AAR. it was great run, but the activity came at such a price that an insupportable amount of work was needed from us to keep it running, and even more work to keep the spam at reasonable levels. Our failure to do so has led to repeated moderator action and made us realise the two of us and the free time we have are not enough to keep RP open. Real-life demands are rising, and we cannot keep up spending the time on AARland we are spending currently.

Please note that this decision has nothing to do with the moderator actions themselves, just our realisation that we could not handle RP, and hence can't continue it. Right now we are laying open two options for the playing community, many of which would like to see this project continued:

Closing Realpolitik
The simple option. We will contact the moderators, make a final speech and ask them to close down the thread.

Moving on the Realpolitik Project to another author or team of authors
For quite a while now, we have been talking to Alexon47 who would be interested in taking over Realpolitik, and to the moderators to see if this idea could work. The practical implementation here is that there will be a new Realpolitik thread under the name of a new author, who will also receive all our graphics files and the savegame to continue Realpolitik as he sees fit. All the indexposts will be copied to the new thread under the new author, and this thread will be assimilated into the old so all the comments enter the new thread and nothing is lost.

Aside from that, we are putting this up here to see if there is anyone among the playing community interested in helping out Alexon and forming a team to run Realpolitik. We would urge anyone wanting to take over to do this, because even we were unable to run it with two people.

Note that nothing has been decided yet. For now, the thread remains open for discussing the future of Realpolitik .We will start correspondence with all the moderators and Alexon to see what will be done.

Thank you

wow that is quite something...I hope that this thread continues because, besides of the people who are indeed so stupid to still spam this thread....everyone else likes it and has contributed to it. I hope that it will continue...nice work though, its a shame but, you've done the best there is!

To my plan I would call it the ''Aid Democratic Africa plan'' (No I will not name it after someone..:D) I hope it can still work if it will be transferred to a new kind of Realpolitik...

TRP do Channel Pact and Crimson banner still continue, after the exams?

The hell yes. After the bloody workweek Realpolitik has been, the calmth and serenity of RTCB and TCP will feel like a vacation to us. If they write anything in the papers, let them write 'TRP is coming home!' ;)

Aside from that, everyone has been contacted, so now we will step back and see what comes out of the discussion. Note that to any people aspiring to take over the project that we will assist you every step of the way: You will get the savegame, all graphic files to be used freely, access and moderator rights over the Cabinet Private forums, the entire package. After that, though, we're 'chuting out of this plane and it's up to you guys :D

I think Realpolitik is good enough to be continued in a more limited fashion. Maybe with less direct involvement, and when you have more time? I think that the concept that the game world reacts to ours choices and that you might not always know what you set in motion in other countries with your own actions is very entertaining.

We fully agree to that, and we admit hosting this was great fun for us aswell :D. If the day had five more hours, we'd continue, but alas.

How RP will continue will be up to the team that takes it over, it's all their decision. We do urge everyone to cooperate with the mods, they are all very enthusiastic about this project and working with them will lead RP to prosperity!

I would love to see this continued by a council of authors. It is far to interesting to just let die!

You know what, if nothing else I feel like I made some good friends here. Thanks Vince and Laurence.

Very kind words, and your input on Realpolitik was particularly effective, Stormbringer. Although you were minister of the most unhip of tasks (let's face it, we're talking about running an economy while there's war everywhere), you did so by practically applying what you study in real life, and with great skill at that. This is why we started RP in the first place: So people could have the experience of running a country surrounded by enemies on the brink of economic collapse and with war everywhere. In real life, war means people die and is bad, but games allow us to make entertainment out of the impssible: The socialists in R/L form the bulk of our Paternal Autocrats here, just because it was fun.

Your friends request has been accepted, and you can be sure we'll drop by your AAR again after the transfer of Realpolitik is complete. In fact, we have a present for you ;).

It seems this is not the end after all. Could we ask everyone who would be willing to take up the task of joining the hosting team to speak up and organise themselves into a group? If we know who is interested, you will all be contacted (or just contact us by visitor message, not PM as we're expecting our inbox limit to be exceeded soon). The moderators have shown enthusiasm for the takeover aswell, so the new authoring team seems to be getting the support of everyone.

-TRP

With my own AAR going I'm not so sure I can dedicate a lot of time, but what little time I do have I could contribute towards something that needs to get done.

Do remember that joining the host team will mean you have to abandon your position as player forgood, to prevent hosts from interfering with the game hosts aren't allowed to play ;)

Noo...:(
It's over!
It was funny with the short time we got.

But you guys should be proud, you have made history, I think this AAR are the fastest growing AAR ever made.

P.S. It was nothing about Bosnia in the last update, I read;)

/Hax:(

Come to think of it, that's very possible, especially when you count all the replies made in the usgeroups and the private forums

Running for 18 consecutive days, Realpolitik gathered around 2300 replies in the thread and related threads or groups. That's more than 100 posts a day

TO THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE LEGISLATURE

I will be accepting the challenge of running this ongoing game. Unfortunately I do need to sleep, and while i do spend a large amount of time, it is clearly not enough to police this thread. I therefore ask ALL OF YOU, to police yourselves. If you see a post that violates the rules, i ask that you report it to me. If you see spam, it should also be reported to me. From now on I will be... Less then lenient on issues, and will look at every post to make sure that this thread stays SPOTLESS. Also, from now on Propaganda will be limited to usergroups, and all debates will happen in the thread. If the debate is circular, MOVE ON or it WILL be considered SPAM.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this thread has a possibility to be a stunning success. To achieve this success, you must all act like mature adults, even though that is more then can be said for most politicians. Blind rhetoric only hurts this thread, thus all parties will have to JUSTIFY their positions in debates.

If anyone cant handle the policies set out, i ask that they don't participate and ruin it for everyone else. If anyone wants to remove themselves of their political affiliations to help me cull for spam and enjoy the madness from afar, i ask that you PM me. I will be eternally grateful.

Alex
