Yes 6 specialty is wrong. I did the coding, mea culpa.
Scrapt naval training for sure. But I will check it at home (no Editor here at work :( )

Hi kunadam, don't worry nobody is perfect here. :) The good thing is that we are going to check again and if it required amend the teams have been proposed. With regards the new proposals could you please provide your opinion? For example, as I mentioned earlier, I think that you are in a better position to assess whether the Romanian team is fine or not.

Regarding Leopold Ružička he retired in 1957 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leopold_Ružička). I guess that skill 6-7 should be fine. He was a Nobel laureate so I would assign to him 7. I'm fine as well with the proposed specialities: chemistry and training. Before coding him I would like to know the opinion of someone else.

The convention is to have max one university when is not possible to find any suitable tech team. I doubt that this is the case for Switzerland

Just pick one of them. I put two to let you decide.

I would like to avoid coding an University. Such as generic tech team is unavoidable when there aren't many alternatives but this is not the case for Switzerland I think. As you are from that country could you please do some more research?

All,

Any opinion on Leopold Ružička?

The company was a large shipping company that IIRC also trained captains and seamen. Furthermore it owned and operated a very productive and innovative ship yard (Odense Staalskips Vaerft, called Lindoe Vaerftet now a days) that produced (and still do) some of the largest civilian ships at the time (and a few warships). Therefore I would give it:

Management (the shipping part)
Naval training and Seamanship (the training part)
Naval engineering and Technical Efficiency (the ship yard bit)

Scrap mechanics that part doesn't make sense. Alternatively if you think naval training and seamanship is weird centralized and decentralized execution might be considered. The company was and is famous for the training of leaders and their management style and it would make them good at researching logistics which they should be (being a large shipping company).

Finally please remeber to combine denmarks, norways and swedens tech teams for scandinavia please.

Ok. I thought that because of your avatar :)

TTs Austria

All,

As you can see Austria is poorly represented in HOI2. I made a research on Austria and for the time being please find below my findings/suggestions:

Rename Hirtenberger into Otto Eberhardt Patronenfabrik
remove aeronautics and artillery and assign mechanics and industrial engineering.

Reason: the company was focussed on cartridge and metal fabrication
ref. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otto_Eberhardt_Patronenfabrik

Add "Hirtenberger - Hopfner" with skill 3 and specialities aeronautics, electronics, technical efficiency

Reason: Otto Eberhardt Patronenfabrik also purchased the assets of the Hopfner aircraft company and had continued production of both de Havilland- and Siemens-powered aircraft under the Hirtenberg brand. As it produced only a training/touring aircraft I would add this to bring the skilled down.

ref http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hirtenberg_HS.9

pic http://www.aviastar.org/pictures/austria/m/hirtenberg_hs-9-m.jpg
hirtenberg_hs-9-m.jpg

Rename Pintsch into Pintsch Bamag AG and think whether such a team can be used because produced civilian stuff and it is well know because of the alarm sirens
http://www.pintschbamag.com/History.83.0.html

Replace Pintsch with Österreichische Luftstreitkräfte adding chemistry as speciality but lowering the skill to 3

ref http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austrian_Air_Force_(1927-1938)
pic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Roundel_of_the_Austrian_Air_Force.svg
File:Roundel_of_the_Austrian_Air_Force.svg

Add Multimatic 1957-1969
skill 5, specialities industrial efficiency, management, general equipment

Add Magna 1969-1970
skill 6, specialities industrial efficiency, management, general equipment, electronics

reason: merge with Magna electronics

ref http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magna_International

Steyr
1) decrease the level to 5
2) remove general equipment and traning
3) add artillery, technical efficiency and electronics to Steyr because of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ADGZ

Add a new team Puch, skills 5, specialities: general equipment, traning, mechanics

ref http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puch

pic
Puch_logo.PNG

Add Gesellschaft Österreichischer Chemiker skill 5 specialities: chemistry, management, industrial engineering

pic
goech_logo_gross.gif

ref http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gesellschaft_Österreichischer_Chemiker

Add Erwin Schrödinger 1930-1939
skill 7, specialities nuclear engineering, nuclear_physics
ref http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erwin_Schrödinger

pic
File:Erwin_Schrodinger2.jpg

pic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Erwin_Schrodinger2.jpg

Add Anselm Franz 1930-1970 skill 6 specialities rocketry, aeronautics
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anselm_Franz
pic
DrFranz.jpg

He should be skilled 7 or 8 but the aeronautics and rocketry in Austria was in a bad shape.
ref http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anselm_Franz

Add Kurt Gödel 1930-1939 skill 7 speciality mathematics
great matematician he deserves 9 but not for cryptography

ref http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurt_Gödel
pic
images

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfgang_Gröbner

I wanted to find a specific tech team for cryptography but I couldn't. In my research I found Wolfgang Gröbner ( an Austrian mathematician. His name is best known for the Gröbner basis, used for computations in algebraic geometry and hence for cryptography ref http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfgang_Gröbner) and Bruno Buchberger which developed a particular field on cryptography (ref http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruno_Buchberger). As they are/were based in Graz please find below a new tech team: Technische Universität Graz

skill 4, specialities mathematics, electronics, mechanics, chemistry

Aker mekaniske and Norsk Hydro

Esay1: Do you think you can find an other image for Aker? The current one is the logo of the firm Aker ASA, which has little to do with Akers Mekaniske Verksted (e.g. Aker ASA has sold Aker Yards, and the current logo is less than 15 years old). An earlier logo was http://dcdevine.files.wordpress.com/2006/10/aker_logo.thumbnail.jpg?w=128&h=55, but that one could also be from after 1970.

And to all other Norwegians reading this. We should get "Norsk Hydro" as at tech team as well. And maybe Chr. Michelsens Institutt (CMI) link or maybe some of the reasearchers that were afilliated. Atle Selberg or Thoralf Skolem could maybe make the cut. SINTEF could also be amended with a start date 1950.

Norsk Hydro should definitively be the norwergian tech team for Agrichemistry. Skill 4 and speciality in chemistry and management?

I think SINTEF is covered by NTH. Both Selberg and Skolem (both mathematicans) could be covered by the University of Oslo, but I'd rather have NTH than UiO as the university from Norway.

I don't think Chr. Michelsens Institutt is relevant for the technologies covered by Arsenal of Democracy

SCH
Leopold Ruzicka got his Nobel prise for organic chemistry, he worked mostly for perfume factories. It has very little to do with military. I would suggest to have skill 6 and just chemistry. Training is certainly a should not, as it represent military training, and not teaching.

DEN
Maersk should then have Skill 6 with management, technical efficiency and naval engineering.
Naval training and seamanship is reserved for doctrine teams, which mean military training, military positioning of ships, etc. DEN's existing naval doctrine teams are less skilled.

ROM
A look at naval tech reveal that as componens it usualy have naval artillery, naval engineering, electronics and technical_efficiency. Anything else is not needed for ships.
secretalex125 research shows, that the TTs suggested by him is better suited. Thus constanca should be replaced with Galati.
Skill 4. Specialty: Naval engineering, Naval artillery, technical efficiency.

I don't say Constanta could be replaced by Galati.Constanta would be good as a more industrial/commercial place, whilst Galati is good for naval production/research stuff. That's it.But then,it is your game, not mine, and as far as I see,Romania has enough industrial places,so no Constanta shouldn't be a big pain ;)

Constanta is more known than Galati, but then its the efficiency here ;)

Have you checked the time? Schrödinger and Godel are supposed to disappear in 1939. Do you have any comment on the above mentioned proposals (e.g. Serbian, Norevegian, etc)?
