Washington must not fall.
It's time to take care of the southerners.

Where did you get such cool images for Khruschev and other people? Did you use GIP? Great AAR.

@KaiserMuffin & serutan: Yes, the CSA is on its last legs. Long will soon be feeling the pressure.

@Sectorknight21:it is almost won in the north, but total victory will take a while longer.

@Meadow:Nice to have you on board! The CSA flag is awesome too, fits them pretty well. On my future strategy I do not want to say much for now, except that Russia will probably not be an ally. They are ruled by a member of the Romanov dynasty, who is largely supported by the Orthodox church, and has become very aggressive in recent years. Who knows, they could even be a future enemy.....

@Karaiskandar: Festung Washington will not fall. The city has a permanent garrison of 30,000 troops, as well as backup from infantry units that were in Virginia. Plus if things get really bad, I could send what is left of the US navy to provide fire support in any land battle.

@Asalto: Yup, its GIP. I forget if its the latest version though. Adds some very nice colour to the game. Besides GIP, I included custom division icons for Russia, the CSA, AUS, and PSA armies.

The final offensive against the CSA begins. First, 40,000 US soldiers and national guard clear CS militants out of Milwaukee, forcing them to flee south for the city of Chicago.
battleofmilwaukee.png

The CSA has now been reduced to only 2 remaining strongholds, the cities of Detroit and Chicago. With the CSA now on its last legs, President Garner sends the CSA politburo an offer of unconditional surrender, promising leniency and a path of rehabilitation for members of the CSA people's army, as well as their leadership, to allow them to once again become US citizens. Instead, Jack Reed vows to fight to the end, ordering whats left of his forces to man the barricades and trenches in Detroit and Chicago, and to fight until the very end.

With the offer of surrender refused, 100,000 US soldiers under the leadership of General Mac Arthur storm the city of Chicago. Using hand grenades, thompson submachine guns, browning automatic rifles, and rifle fired grenades, they clear CS troops out house by house, street by street. The CSA forces, including thousands of newly drafted citizen conscripts, fight ferociously, but are soon forced back into the city's center.

Finally, under a white flag, the commanding generals of the Chicago garrison arrive at Mac Arthur's headquarters and negotiate a surrender, with at least 100,000 CS militants marching out of the city to POW camps and an uncertain future.

Whats left of the CSA people's army makes its final stand in the city of Detroit. 90,000 CS conscripts, as well as the remains of the British and French volunteer divisions, face 110,000 American infantrymen, once again under Mac Arthur's leadership. In a similar fashion to Chicago, US troops clear out the city's defenses and crush the CSA defenders, victoriously raising the US flag over the heavily damaged Detroit city hall.

On September 8th, 1937, General Marshal and whats left of the CSA politburo accept total defeat, and sign the Combined Syndicates of America's unconditional surrender. The war against radical socialism in America is finally over, and the United States is victorious. Now, thousands of US federal troops can be sent to both the southern and western fronts, with the bulk being deployed south in preparation of facing Huey Long and the American Union States Army.

Long is not quiet throughout the CSA's defeat. Knowing what is soon to come, the AUS launches an offensive into West Virginia, in an effort to keep US troops on the defensive while the AUS mobilizes more soldiers. Although US troops take heavy casualties in west Virginia, they are soon replaced with fresh units from the area, and West Virginia is held.

As the rebellious ships of the former CS navy dump their ammunition into the sea and return to port in New York, a startling development takes place regarding New England. The Canadian installed New England government, after witnessing the defeat of the CSA, decides to cut all ties with the Entente and declare allegiance to the US government. New England now joins the civil war against both the AUS and PSA, giving the US government full control over their armed forces and pledging to fight with the US until total victory is achieved.

20 divisions of US and New England troops now march south, heading for the frontlines facing the American Union State. Soon, the US will deliver the decisive blow that will smash the AUS once and for all.

US troops now begin to clear the city of Corpus Christi of AUS military presence. Although the AUS evacuated the bulk of their troops a long time ago, 2 divisions of AUS paramilitaries still remain, and are soon forced to surrender under the US assault.

Eeeeexcellent. The war is as good as won now, although as you say it will take some time to completely purge the country of
rebellion - the PSA will be able to take some mountain provinces, and the AUS will have built up a force that cannot simply be brushed aside.

Wow nice turn of events.
With New England on your side, you'll crush the secessionists!

The time it takes to march and take the relevant cities will now be the main deciding factor on how long it is before the Union is properly restored.

Kaiser Mobius, your story is just great. Do you mind if I ask you some more questions? If you past GIP ministers over KR minister files, are there any problems? Have all GIP ministers and leaders same ID as KR ones? Or do you have to change numbers? Can you please upload your unit icons for AUS, CSA and others? They are so cool. If this is possible, of course. Thanks for your help.

Nice turn of events there. Will New England fold back into the Union when the war is over?

If New England goes pro- Union they usually rejoin when the war is over. The same thing happen with PSA if they are neutral (and there is some kind of event chain that makes PSA surrender before they have lost all territory, which might happen if MacArthur is not president and Long and Reed are both gone).

Now that you've got one less front to worry about it looks like victory is all but certain, though it may take a while and I imagine it'll take even longer to restore the Union to its former state.

@Leviathan07:they should rejoin the rest of the US once the last of the hostile secessionists is defeated.

@Asalto: I think KR has different names for many of its minister pics, so GIP shouldn't cause any problems. As for the icons, they are not complete sets, but I might upload them after the AAR is over.

@Undead-Hippie:I am guessing long was trying to one-up jack reed. Where Reed had child soldiers, Long has child generals!

@everyone else: thanks for your comments!

As civil war rages in Spain, a crisis erupts as CNT-FAI troops approach the strategic straits of Gibraltar. In response to the CNT-FAI threat against control of this strategic location, German warships loaded with marines sail for the area, with orders to occupy Gibraltar and keep it out of syndicalist hands. Unable to face the Germans alone, CNT-FAI allows the Commune of France to move its own marines and infantry into Gibraltar, forcing the Germans to withdraw their forces.

In central asia, Turkestan is annexed by the Russians, expanding the resurgent Russia's influence all the way to the borders of Afghanistan and Persia.

Back in the US, the remains of the CSA peoples army are gathered in northern Michigan, where they are disarmed, and their officers arrested. The rest of the defeated CS troops are quickly demobilized, and sent to POW camps where they will stay until the civil war is over.

On October 13th, the US army, as well as troops from New England, launch the long awaited offensive against the American Union State. In a massive coordinated strike all across the front, US and New England troops smash AUS positions from Virginia all the way to western Tennessee. In response, the AUS launches its own offensive into Arkansas with the intention of drawing some US troops away from the main push. However, despite the AUS offensive into Arkansas, US troops continue to move for their objectives.
largescaleoffensive.png

With US troops retreating in Arkansas, they are hounded by Long's powerful airforce. Here, at fort smith, an entire US infantry division is wiped out by AUS bombers and fighters.
ausairpower.png

In retaliation, the US army's aircorps is ordered into action above Tennessee, sending hundreds of tactical bombers to hammer any AUS columns and troop concentrations that can be found, such as here, in Chattanooga.
usairpower.png

With New England infantry and militia guarding the right flank, US forces continue their relentless assault, pushing AUS troops out of Virginia in disarray and marching into North Carolina. AUS troops can do nothing to stop the attack, retreating backwards into South Carolina.
northcarolinaoffensive.png

A US army counterattack to regain the initiative in Arkansas completely fails, due to the presence of heavily entrenched AUS infantry, supported by dozens of light armoured vehicles.
battleofpinebluff.png

In the chaos of their retreat south, an entire division of AUS paramilitaries is left behind and surrounded in the port city of Norfolk. The task of clearing out the rebel troops goes to members of the New England Army, who are able to easily crush the AUS defenders, proving their worth as good combat troops.
battleofnorfolk.png

In the south, US forces push into Louisiana, first taking Alexandria, and then descending on the heavily fortified city of New Orleans from the north and west. Defending the city is one of the Union States Army's best commanders, General George Patton. Under his leadership, AUS troops fight ferociously, with many US infantrymen reportedly seeing General Patton himself in the AUS trenches, firing towards US lines with his ivory handled pistols. After about 2 days of heavy fighting, US troops are finally able to force Patton to withdraw, with New Orleans falling under federal government control.

The days of the AUS are well and truly numbered.
