@Karaiskandar: That, or I could modify the save game to put them back under Canadian control.

Indeed, maybe a better solution in fact.

The Azores will be a nice base to lauch an invasion of Iberia, but maybe you want to strike in France first?

IMO Iberia is a better landing area, because they are further away from the main Syndie (i.e. British) fleets. And in any event the Syndies will be screwed by a major landing in Spain, because they will be faced with a 2 front war.

@Kaiser_mobius - Will you try to puppet Bolivia in a peace treaty so they don't have to rebuild their army from scratch?

Africa first, as you said, and then move into Europe. Perhaps with a strike into the boot. With the Germans in the north, who can say just how much of the Italian army is guarding the coast?

Hmm, I dunno about that, maybe Mobius should take Spain instead? If he takes Gibraltar after securing the North African coast, he can interdict just about all Mediterrenean shipping and have an entry into the south of France through Spain and place closer naval and air elements to the Union of Britain.

Granted the fighting will likely be harsh, same as if the US conducts an Operation Torch to neutralize Italy, but the division of French forces to meet the Americans is more than likely able to allow Germany some breathing space as well as remove the CNT-FAI who while weak at this moment apparently, could and can still be a possibly deadly threat if left to modernize and expand.

Still, it'll be up to you either way Mobius.

@Karaiskandar: As you see later on, I will strike in neither France or Iberia.:D

@serutan: I guess I could have done that, but I prefer just to annex and then release.

@Zhuge Liang: The nationalist french should be fine without my help. They have been getting lots of ground and air support from the Canadians and the South Africans, so they should have enough manpower to close up the African front. The only major thing I have to do is make sure the Syndies don't land reinforcements.

@TheMaleRei: The Italians actually have a lot of troops on their beaches, and their army is a lot larger than I thought it would be. Just wait until you see what they do in the balkans....

@Gideon020: After seeing how the French and Iberian's were doing (poorly) against the Germans, I decided that striking at both countries too early would make the game too easy. Therefore, I choose a different target, one that was a bit more challenging...

@Issac Wolfe & Rosevelts Ghost: On Russia, I decided to heavily up their neutrality and lower their aggressiveness, not only to keep things from getting to one-sided against the syndies, but also to keep the Russian's from doing weird things. (they kept declaring war on Australasia for some reason, despite not having any lines in their AI programming targeting them.)

Also, I wanted to have them join the Germans in the future, to make for an interesting cold war...

Admiral Nimitz sails his carrier task force to the seas outside the straits of Gibraltar, with the goal of keeping the Italian, French, and Iberian navies out of the Atlantic. It does not take very long for the first syndicalist ships to try and run the blockade, as a modern Italian battleship and its escorting destroyer flotilla tries to pass through the strait. Nimitz's carrier aircraft immediately head into action, scoring several hits on the Italian battleship and forcing it to retreat back into the Med.

In Europe, something decisive seems to have happened on the Italian front. Austro-German troops have been driven out of both Turin and Milan, and the Italians have taken Venice, opening up the Balkans to syndicalist invasion.

Back in the America's, the Bolivian army makes its final stand at the capital, La Paz. General Marshall's army, consisting of about 130,000 troops, storms the Bolivian defenses and assaults the city. Bolivian resistance is at first heavy, but very quickly collapses as US troops march into the Bolivian Presidential palace.

The US is also on the offensive in the central Atlantic ocean, as US marines set sail to the canary and cap verde islands.
canaryandcapverde.png

It is only on the Cap Verde Islands that US troops face resistance, in the form of only a single division of syndicalist militia. The marines make short work of the defenders, and secure the islands.
capverdeisland.png

With no more strongholds to retreat too, the Bolivian government surrenders, ending all Syndicalist influence in the western hemisphere.

US troops secure the important naval and airbases in the Canary and Cap Verde Islands. With these islands secure, the Entente can now project its power not only throughout the eastern Atlantic, but also deep into western Europe.

The USAAF intercepts a large group of British naval torpedo bombers that were attacking US convoy ships near the Azores. Out of range of their own escorts, the British are easy prey, and many of their bombers are shot down before they can make it back to the safety of Iberian airfields.

The main battlelines in western Europe by May 1942. French forces are fighting bitterly with the Germans over Alsace Lorraine, most of which has changed hands dozens of times so far. However, the Syndicalists are beginning to really strain German defenses, with Freiburg falling to the French and the Italians taking control of Rijeka, in Croatia.

German tanks in Strasbourg, which has already changed hands at least a dozen times so far.

In the east, the Ukrainian army is still advancing at a snails pace, due largely to the fanatical resistance of the Polish Army. Ukrainian troops are still advancing however, enveloping Lvov and taking control of large parts of the Pripyat marshes.

A large Italian fleet, centered around 2 battleships, tries to run through Admiral Nimitz's blockade and enter the Atlantic. Once again, they fail, with their ships taking severe damage from American carrier aircraft but still being able to retreat back to their ports.

In the America's, the United States government decides to set up new, entente allied regimes in the countries that had been occupied by the United States. Mexico, Guatemala, Cuba, El Salvador, Bolivia, and Brazil now join the fight against Syndicalism alongside the United States and its allies.

How is it possible that you don't have coloured picture for general MacArthur? You have many nice pictures for your generals, but main hero is black and white.

Nice update.

Nice udpate indeed.
Puppets, puppets and more puppets, love it! :D
So if you won't strike in neither France or Iberia...does that means that you'll take care of Britain first?

Now it's time to see what the US steamroller can do when it applies it's full might behind one front. I almost pity the Sydies.

"We're not just going to shoot the bastard, we're going to cut out their living guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks! We're going to murder those lousy Syndie bastards by the bushel!"

@Asalto: I had actually never thought about that. There is a coloured pic of MacArthur in GIP, but the file for KR macarthur is different. I guess I could change that.

@Karaiskandar: Yup. :D

@salidas16: Exactly. Those syndie bastards tried to destroy the United States in the 1930's by stoking rebellion throughout the country. It is time to show them that they screwed with the wrong nation! America will not stop until every member of the Internationale is destroyed, and their leaders are either dead or rotting in some dark prison.

@Gideon020: Thank you. :)

@TheMaleRei: That comment reminds me: I should try and get General Patton back into the army's officer corps. In the leaderfiles, I haven't seen good old blood and guts, since he ends up becoming an AUS general. I guess by now he would be rehabilitated, and ready to fight for the stars and stripes once again.

@everyone else: Thanks for the comments!

On June 30th, Germany's buffer state of Flanders - Wallonia is completely overrun by French troops. Crown prince Adalbert flees the country for his home in Germany, as the French army prepares to move further north.

In the south, Italian and French forces are gaining ground, with the Italians marching victoriously into Zagreb, Slovenia, and the Austrian alps, threatening to cross into Bavaria.
balkanfrontjuly1942.png

Meanwhile, the syndicalists suffer another large defeat, as Marshal Petain's army marches into Dakar and forces the surrender of all Syndicalist forces in Africa. This defeat confines the Syndicalists influence solely to Europe, which is also where their influence is strongest.

The fighting now spills into the Netherlands, as French and German troops turn the small country into a full fledged battlefield. French forces make very quick progress in the Netherlands, driving their tanks through Amsterdam and Rotterdam, while also being driven back out of Arnhem by the German army.
amsterdamfalls.png

Italian influence in the south is also spreading like a wildfire. Munich, the capital of Bavaria, is taken by French and Italian units that attack from the Austrian alps, while at the same time, Italian troops surge into the rest of Slovenia, large portions of Austria, and surge south into the rest of Croatia and into Bosnia.

Sarajevo, the Bosnian capital, falls to Italian troops, forcing the Bosnian government to flee for Hungary.

More British naval bombers are intercepted over the Atlantic by the USAAF's P-51 fighters, causing heavy British losses.

No longer in control of their own country due to the fighting between German and French troops, the Dutch government flees into exile to the Dutch East Indies.

In the east, the Ukrainian army has made further progress, finally taking the city of Lvov and securing Brest Litovsk and the Pripyat marshes. However, their army has now hit a stone wall of resistance, with the Polish, Lithuanian, and White Ruthenian armies blunting all further Ukrainian attacks. It seems that the eastern front has now descended into complete stalemate.

Back in the United States, the US army continues to mobilize in ever growing numbers, including the creation of a brand new mechanized army group under the command of General Eisenhower. To many in the US army, after seeing some of the success the French have had with their large armoured and motorized forces, mechanized infantry represents the future of warfare. These divisions, consisting of light tanks, armoured cars, and infantry that ride around in heavily armoured halftracks and APC's, have the ability to not only rapidly take territory but hold it in the face of large counterattacks. Combined with air support, an army built around mechanized forces could be unstoppable.

Just seeing 62 divisions ready to embark for Europe makes me happy beyond my wildest dreams. Great update! I'm very impressed with how this AAR's 'WWII' has gone. The Italians in particular have impressed me - I've never seen them achieve such success. The fight in Europe will be a tough one...

I'm worried about Germany, I know someone said that eventually the French get worn down due to numbers but they haven't really had any major victories, only Stalemates at best. How is the manpower ration between France and Germany?
