Hopefully you've got the Syndies all but beaten now and the other fronts seem stabilised, but with the luck the US gets in Kaiserreich I'm expecting an alien invasion any day now...

@stnylan:maybe, but this war is not over yet.

@Zhuge Liang:The CSA might look beaten now, but they still have a lot of fight left in them.

@KaiserMuffin:I did not beef up the AUS's starting OOB. They get those tanks by default. Pretty cool isn't it?

@Stalfur:I am using Bebro's sprite packs, as well as lots of individual sprites, such as cavalry, jet fighters, and foot infantry.

@everyone else: thanks for your comments!

Canadian warships sail out of Vancouver for Anchorage, Alaska, landing troops and announcing the seizure of the entire territory to keep it out of syndicalist hands. The US government of course protests, but there is nothing more that can be done.

US troops, after taking up their positions around Chicago, storm the city from every direction, crushing the CSA defenders and marching into the city centre.
battleofchicago.png

At the same time, the AUS are launching their own offensive, pushing US troops out of Memphis, and seizing the entire state of Tennessee. Also note the announcement of the Russian government of a new hard-line expansionist policy.

In central Europe, Austria is able to convince their puppet government of Bohemia to join a direct political union with Austria, greatly increasing their industrial and military capability. Austria is definitely looking like a real player in European politics now, with their earlier annexation of Bosnia and the acquisition of Poland's loyalty with the permitted annexation of Galicia.

Back in the US, fighting is now raging all across the northern states, with US forces tightening the noose around the CSA's figurative neck. The CSA is fighting back however, launching counter attacks into southern Ohio and Illinois.
rustbeltassault.png

US troops along the coast of North Carolina are hit by massive air attacks from Huey Longs new airforce. Although these attacks are very large, the US forces suffer little casualties, due to heavy field fortifications.
ausairforce.png

US forces occupy Buffalo, finally severing all supply links to CSA militants and soldiers occupying New Jersey, New York City, and eastern Pennsylvania.
northeastnycutoff.png

Chicago is cleared completely of CSA presence by US troops. With the capital of the CSA now back in federal hands, US commanders decide to allow some of their soldiers to take out their frustrations on the city, with many cases of looting, vandalism, and arson being committed by US soldiers.
chicagofalls.png

The CSA politburo, who escaped to Detroit after the fall of Chicago, now resorts to desperate measures, conscripting the last of their manpower reserves in a last ditch attempt to turn the tide.
desperatecsa.png

The CSA now launches a massive counterattack. US forces, who have become overstretched in the latest offensive, are forced back by waves of CS soldiers and militia, who are able to push US troops out of Chicago and even invade northern Wisconsin and Minnesota.

The frontlines of the 2nd American Civil War on May 1st, 1937. The situation is beginning to get very dire. The latest AUS offensive into Tennessee has spilled into southern Illinois. This combined with the CSA's massive counteroffensive has resulted in US territory being cut in two, with supplies to the western portion of the country having to be brought in by sea to Texas. If the situation cannot be stabilized, defeat is very possible.
frontlinesmay1st1937.png

Things look bad but you should be alright as long as you keep that coastline in Texas so you can ferry supplies in. How is the war against the PSA going btw? You haven't mentioned it soI guess little to nothing is happening on that front.

As long as Long hasn't advanced too far, he can be easily dealt with after Reed is beaten. Ignore the west Coast for now, you can steamroll them when you're ready with Long and Reed, and sometimes even PSA decide to rejoin the US if Long and Reed are beaten.

@Morlak:Exactly. When I free up all of those battle hardened infantry from the north, I am going to steamroll Longs Union State. However, I need to hold the line first, and the AUS is putting up more and more pressure all the time.

@Zhuge Liang: I havent really been reporting on the western front yet since nothing of real importance has happened there yet. The only things there are the PSA marching their army into Nevada and Arizona, as well as western Utah. My whole strategy in the west is simple, hold the rocky mountains, and halt the PSA from gaining much strategic depth. In the west, I can trade land for time, while I deal with the much stronger AUS and CSA rebellions.

@yourworstnightm: If i am not mistaken, a peaceful reunion with the PSA can only happen if the PSA and USA are at peace. Therefore, I will have to march all the way to the pacific ocean to bring california back into the fold.

@everyone else: thanks for the comments.

Authors note: sorry for the slowing down of my updates. It is crunch time at uni and I am juggling 3 papers right now. Hopefully this update will hold you all over for a while longer.:)

General DeWitt's 1st Cavalry division rides into southern Illinois, pushing AUS troops there out with little resistance. However, the cavalry are soon faced with a massive CSA frontal assault, consisting of about 80,000 militants and regular infantry. Completely outnumbered and outgunned, DeWitt retreats back across the Mississippi into Missouri, suffering heavy casualties.
hugesyndicalistattack.png

Finally, the first decisive victory so far in the civil war. Completely cut off from their commanders in Chicago, and almost out of ammunition and supplies, CSA militants and regulars stationed in New York City surrender by the thousands to the US army. It is estimated that about 100,000 CS troops were captured here. With this decisive victory, at least 4 US divisions can now be redeployed to the west, to help break through CSA lines in Indiana and Ohio and finally link up directly with US forces in the midwest and the great plains.

In international news, Spain becomes the next nation to suffer war with itself, with the Carlist faction of Spain rising up in the northern parts of the country and declaring war on the legitimate Spanish government.
spanishcivilwar.png

Another development concerns the Ukraine, which suffers a full blown overthrow of its German puppet regime, and its replacement with a syndicalist government led by Nikita Khrushchev. This development could have a very large reverberating effect on the current European balance of powers.

In central Asia, a war develops when the government of Turkestan decides to invade the Kazakh state of Alash Orda. The Kazakhs however, come up with a very interesting way to protect themselves. Alash Orda willingly gives up its sovereignty to the Russian government, peacefully rejoining Russia for protection from Turkestan. Now, the Turkestani's are up against one of the worlds most powerful nations, as Russian troops march south to meet them.

Back in the US, CSA militants are able to march all the way out of northern Wisconsin and into eastern Minnesota, taking control of Minneapolis from US authorities. American infantry, as well as the 1st Cavalry division, organize a task force to retake the city and push the CSA out of Minnesota. After a rather long battle, US forces, heavily disorganized and exhausted, are just barely able to best the CSA militia's, pushing them out of the city.
battleofminneapolis.png

Once again, in Spain, the long suppressed CNT-FAI comes out of hiding and joins the fighting, seizing control of vast swathes of eastern Spain and declaring open war on both the Carlist and government factions. Soon, the CNT-FAI's ranks are bolstered with thousands of British and French volunteers, who form the so called international brigades.

Back in the US, the CSA offensive has expanded. CSA militants have crossed over both the Ohio and Mississippi rivers, retaking St Louis, Milwaukee, and marching into Kentucky for the first time. However, the US joint chiefs of staff sense a weakness. Seeing that the CSA has overstretched their forces, a massive counterattack is launched, directed at Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio. In all areas, US forces are victorious, sending CSA militants fleeing in all directions.
anothermidwestoffensive.png

Huey Long is not quiet through all of this however, ordering his Union States Army to throw US forces out of North Carolina. With US lines stretched thin in this area, they are able to break through in the center, at Fayetteville.
carolinasfighting.png

US troops attempt a half hearted diversionary counterattack into Tennessee. However, things go bad right from the start, as US troops find themselves up against not minute men or paramilitaries, but fully trained and heavily armed AUS regulars, who are able to successfully blunt this federal offensive. Also note that US troops are about to get kicked out of Charlotte, in North Carolina.
battleofnashville.png

In the battle against the CSA, there is another decisive breakthrough. US infantry from east and west link up in Northern Indiana, completely isolating thousands of CSA militias and infantry to the south. All CS army counterattacks fail, and the kessel is fully sealed. The death knell of Jack Reeds army and his socialist state is finally at hand!
cscutoff.png

With morale now climbing, US forces go on the offensive once again in Arkansas, with Little Rock becoming the scene once more for heavy fighting between US and AUS infantry. through weight of numbers, the US troops breakthrough, and retake the city.

It seems that the syndies are on the verge of collapse.

So, with the syndies split in two the tide should finally be turned.

@Karaiskandar, stnylan, yourworstnightm: Jack Reed's America has seen its last sunrise....

@MarshalThorpe: Correct. The AUS and the CSA are both at war with each other and myself, but interestingly not at war with the PSA.

@Zhuge Liang: It could, but I am confident that I could win any siege, no matter how many troops the CSA has left in Chicago.

@Stormbringer: Thank you, and welcome!

As Long's army pushes CS troops out of Memphis, US soldiers move to cut off their retreat and further shrink the massive pocket of CS forces further north. With their supplies running out, CSA forces either retreat further inside the pocket or surrender en masse to US troops.

As US forces withdraw deeper into North Carolina, the American Union States Airforce gives pursuit, bombing and strafing columns of US infantry and militiamen. This US militia division is almost completely wiped out in these bombing attacks.
bombingofraileigh.png

Now, the AUS expands its offensive. Instead of stopping at the North Carolina/Virginia state line, longs army crosses into Virginia and heads north east, with their objective obviously being Washington DC itself. US forces completely evacuate the coast of North Carolina and move to new, shorter defensive lines further north, in hopes of stopping this push. (also note the Russian warships cruising off the coast....)

In Asia, a crisis that started with a border incident between Japanese and Qing Chinese troops near Beijing escalates into full scale war, when Japan orders its soldiers in Fengtien Manchuria to invade Pu Yi's Qing Empire. Germany, which is Pu Yi's biggest ally, publicly guarantees the Qing Empire's territorial integrity, dispatching warships and troop transports to eastern Asia. In response, Japan decides to take on the German titan, launching multiple invasions of Germany's East Asian colonies, starting a full scale war with the entire Mitteleuropan alliance.

Independence day, July 4th, 1937. Many doubted whether or not there would be any more independence day's after the start of the 2nd American civil war, but with CSA defeats on the northern front and the containment of multiple AUS offensives in Texas and Arkansas, things are looking much brighter. With freedom itself still under threat, many across the loyal portions of the United States (as well as anti-secessionist citizens in the rebel held territories) celebrate this July 4th with much more vigor than ever before.

In Africa, Hermann Goring finally gets the Kaiser's approval to invade the Portuguese colonial possessions of Angola and Mozambique, easily overwhelming Portuguese colonial forces with his much larger amounts of German and African soldiers. Later, Portugal would sign a peace treaty with Mittelafrika, accepting the annexation of both Portuguese colonies into Goering's African empire.

With their manpower reserves starting to show signs of running low, Huey Long makes a very controversial decision in the eyes of many of his supporters, authorizing the conscription of African-Americans into the American Union States Army. Although vehemently opposed by his segregationist supporters, Long defends this decision by pointing to the fact that the AUS needs more soldiers to hold back the US army's inevitable assault once Reed and the CSA are defeated.

Black and White AUS troops dug in outside of Memphis.

The remnants of the CSA's troops in the south are surrounded in the city of St Louis, site of the first full scale battle of the 2nd civil war. The 20,000 CS militants, led by General Marshal (who is also one of my commanders, oddly) are easily cleared out by only one division of US infantry.
siegeofstlouis.png

In the east, AUS troops have reached the gates of Washington DC itself, taking up positions on the southern side of the Potomac river, with the Washington Monument and the Capitol Buildings within clear eyesight. US troops launch a diversionary attack on their southern flank, which succeeds in diverting some of their troops south. However, it will take a lot more to push the AUS back out of range of the capital.
enemyatthegates.png

With the CSA's southern thrust completely smashed, and their offensive into Wisconsin and Minnesota thrown back into Michigan, the time has now come to deal the final deathblow to the CSA. To help the coming assault, 6 freshly trained infantry divisions are mobilized, and soon formed into an entire field army under the command of General Mac Arthur himself.

Great AAR, don't worry the war is just about won!

My favourite author and favourite mod! Perfect! I'm also glad to see so much display of the CSA flag I made for the most recent Kaiserreich release. Will be sorry to see it go ;)

Looking forward to seeing how a democratic America holds up - will you seek to align with the Entente, or has Canada's aggression and imperialism alienated that route for you? A democratic powerhouse of Democratic Russia, the Entente and Vanilla USA would be a rare thing to see in Kaiserreich.
