My Sweden by 1492. Russia formed recently and Poland inherited Lithuania shortly after that. After I've annexed Denmark-Norway and sold Iceland to someone, even for no ducats, I'm going to take control of Danzig. After that I foresee a Livonian War repeating itself. Russia seems to be aiming to invade me anytime, it's amassing troops at the border so I'll try to ally with Poland to stave them off while I stabilise myself.
Själland is a stain on the map, but it will soon be Swedish.
Impressive, I hope you will keep Russia back it appears Russia is growing.

Update on the Russian front. The Battle of Neva shocks European courts and grants a very decisive victory to Sweden. There are rumors going around to explain the victory, ranging from a miracle to the prowess of the Swedish army to the sudden appearance of a horde of frenzied chickens at the flank the Russian army. Nevertheless, the Russian army has been dealt a crippling defeat although the Swedish army was too exhausted to follow up, and had to retreat from fighting the other Russian army at Viborg. It is now regathering its strength and preparing to as soon as possible obliterate the rest of the Russian armies.Originally Posted by theFreeman
I was hoping to finance the war and deteriorating situation with Hamburg. But then an anti-judaic ''mob'' of 10 000 men spawns, my soldiers win but only barely. I had 1700 men left out of over 3000 when the battle was over, so I have to retreat three regiments to Holstein and reinforce before the siege can continue.
Now only pray and hope that you do not get any major rebellion on the homefront.

The Russian army is on the very brink of no longer existing, after having been dealt decisive defeat after decisive defeat. Ensuing pursuits wiped out the meager remnants of the Russian armies that escaped, while the Swedish armies split themselves to minimise supply strain during the pursuits.
Stockholm itself was threatened by a huge heretic rebellion, but saved by the energetic action of Sweden's great warrior-king, Charles IX.
Just as Sweden was on the verge of bankrupcy, Lübeck fell to the troops of Brandenburg. The Swedish representatives immediately set sail from Fyn upon hearing this news and through sheer diplomatic skill, managed to convince everyone that the Brandenburgers were in fact fighting under Sweden. Thus, the Brandenburgers went off with nothing but a bitter grudge while the Swedes vassalised the decimated Lübeck and completely sucked the state clean of ducats. The economical crisis imminent back in Stockholm was thus avoided and instead, a massive building program is now being undertaken.
Swedish diplomats are in their foresight, already preparing to do the same thing once Hamburg falls. Not only will this be generally beneficial to society, but it will most notably help reduce and hopefully remove the until-now increasing inflation of Sweden. Charles IX namely had to mint as much as the kingdom could possibly do in order to stave off a bankrupcy, but without the fall of Hamburg it could still not be avoided. Fortune truly was on Sweden's side.
Russia will still not declare peace with Sweden on any terms except a white or favorable peace. But the Swedes, full of merry thoughts of invincibility that have been proved first hand, refuse anything except a favorable settlement. The deadlock thus goes on, with Sweden slowly regaining its occupied lands, preparing to take the fight to Russia incase Russia still won't accept a favorably Swedish peace. Novgorod sat and keenly observed the events unfold, but when more and more reports came in of the ongoing war, Aleksandr Posenya couldn't bear sitting around anymore and decided to carve up whatever he could from his old enemy while it was occupied with Sweden.
There is now widespread fear everywhere in Russia. People are terrified by the seemingly unstoppable Swedes who might soon be rampant in their own country, province, town and farm! But the Russian Czar absolutely refuses peace, sure of victory he presses the war onwards despite having to rebuild the Russian army quite literally from the ground up thanks to the heroic efforts of the Swedish army. Wherever they go, the Swedish army is welcomed with praise, applauds and cheers by the Swedish people.

Started as Muscovy, slowly gathering the provinces needed to form Russia when I suddenly inherit Hungary, oops
I had my first ever non-union inheritance (purely from royal) marriage in one of the last betas, was playing as Saxony and suddenly inherited Cleves out of the blue.
I honestly wasn't sure if RM inheritances existed up to that point, but they do! AND you don't get the usual autonomous estates, so Cleves was all mine with a core.
I know this is offtopic but I always wondered what are those "P" and "T" that appear in the battle popup. Could someone concrete what do they stand for? I suppose "WE" is the amount of war weariness that is added.
Prestige, Army/Navy Tradition. It shows how much the battle changed them.

Why is Russia so weak? It shouldn't be having heavy losses like that to Sweden.
I imagine the 6 shock general has a lot to do with it.

I thought these over inflated generals were a thing of the past, as they seem to be more important than anything else. Get a good general & win evey battle doesn't seem right to me.
I think that part is hard coded.

Russia is probably focused towards quantity. So I think it's fairly realistic. I mean the Swedish army did something similar against the Great Bear.

The Ottomans are at war with Austria/Hungary/Transylvania and the Berber nations, so I'm about to attack them while they're distracted and see if I can't take Syria.
Interesting things: Great Britain formed before Spain did, and I think Genoa took Columbus.
Well here is my game as Riga 100 years in. I picked Riga for the challenge, because I like the Hansa, and frankly because there were so many new features, I felt less daunted by trying them out with a OPM.
Screens (the last one is espically for Swedish Steel! whom I saw picking on my OPM Latvians in another thread)
Even though I picked a OPM, I had plenty to do for almost the entire game. Kudos to the MMP2 team for making the game so engaging even with an insignificant country.
Strategy:
Obviously I went for a trade nation. I picked decisions and policy slider positions to maximize trade benefit. I joined the Hansa of course, and picked Shrewed Comerce and National Trade policy (Riga starts with the third trade idea). My sixth idea was Patron of Arts for prestige. My 7th will be another naval idea (to make 2 total to get rid of naval penalties). My 8th will be National Bank.
Pirates have been plaguing my little nation. Sometimes I need Extensive Provincal measures, restrict trade, and pirate hunters just to keep below rampant piracy.
I was a OPM for nearly the first 100 years (got Finland 2 yrs ago). My money was spent on the AWSOME new building system, sending 100s of merchants, and defending agaisnt invasion from Super-Lithuania and Portugal. I went Protestant during the Reformation in order to secularize to a monarchy and then switched goverments to become a merhchant republic.
I am usually allied to HRE OPMs witch of corse leave me at the drop of a hat when a big boy DOWs meRecently, however, I have buddied with fellow Protestant England. They offered the alliance to me. Is this the great power system that I see at work? Hopefully they will serve as somewhat of a deterent to future aggressive large nations as I was only able to fend of Portugal and Lithuania due to them not having a land route to me and my decent brown water navy.
I finally got the chance to expand when Sweeden with Muscovy went to war with Novgorad among others. We shall see if I can keep my conquest.My possible future targets are Gotland, coastal Finnish provinces, and the Livonian Order.
Rest of World:
Lith inherited Pol instead of vice versa. Portugal colonizing well. Spain, England and France not bad. France is over the BB limit for eating HRE minors and the Holy Roman Emperor (back and forth between Austria and Bavaria) can't stop her. Otto's completely ate Mamlukes, and Austria has a big chunk of Balkans. Norway is not doing bad; eating 2 Sweedish and 2 Scottish provinces. Urbino might actually be the strongest Italian state. Muscovy has been having trouble with the Mongol Successors and the mega Lithuania doesn't help them either. Finally, I didn't notice in the game, but from the screen, it looks like Japan has formed already
