Thread: Updated map files including Fonts, TOT form Mac and the Intel Bluemap

Updated map files including Fonts, TOT form Mac and the Intel Bluemap

I'm posting this as a new thread so that people are aware of it. However, any trouble please put it on the map support thread. Right now I'm in the middle of a trip so I may not be fully available but I will do my best.

    ------------------------------------------------
    Two things:

    - I will stop supporting the MMP map from now on.
    - Here are the updated files. For mac users hopefully TOT is working fine. As for the HDM 2.3 I'm not entirely sure how to make it so kindly ask Ancestral. The one of the main fonts is needed if you want to see ornaments.

    ----------
    MMP2 Files
    ----------

    - HDM v2.3 The default map on MMP2

    - HDM v2.13 This is a version for those with the "white map" problem. No desserts, nor jungles on the political map.

    - TOT 3.0. If you want to change the map into TOT 3.0 (by Pishtaco and Hambut_bulge).

    - TOT 3.0 Mac Version Mac version of TOT 3.0 courtesy of Ancestral.

    - Intel Bluemap. If you have an Intel built in videocard that gives you trouble and need a version of the Bluemap.

    Instructions

    - Unrar into the main MMP mod folder and overwrite all.

NOTE: If you are installing TOT or the Intel Bluemap please erase the MM 'map\terrain' folder before unraring the files.

WARNING: Be careful not to unpack into the main EUIII folder or you will overwrite the original files.

    -------------
    No Windrose
    -------------

    - Colormap_water.dds with no windrose

Just unrar on the MMP2 folder and overwrite. Be careful not to unrar it on the main EUIII folder.

    ------
    Fonts
    ------

If you want you can download optional map fonts. Using one of these fonts is necesary for having ornaments in the map.

    - AM Map Bold.

    - Aquiline Two.

If you want the versions withoug ornaments download them here:

    - AM Map Bold.

    - Aquiline Two.

If you want to restore the vanilla original download this file (No ornaments).

    - Tahoma (Vanilla default).

    Instructions

    - Unrar into the 'EUIII/gfx/fonts' folder overwritting all.

    ----------------------------------
    Alternative Palette and Textures
    ----------------------------------

Cortes_R has made alternative textures and paletes in case you want to check them out:

I installed one of the font versions without ornaments, however the large compass rose still remains. Is there a way to go about removing this?

Aside from that, really incredible work on the new map.

Thanks for the aquiline font, i deleted it thinking i wouldn't get the ornaments.

Your map is AWESOME, thanks a lot for your marvelous work.

Yes thank you for the beautiful map, and all the work you've put into it. It truely gives you the feel that you are pouring over an old map.

I'm glad you like it guys . Thanks for showing your appreciation.

Here is the file to remove the windrose. I was meaning to make it, but I forgot. I has nothing to do with the rest of the ornaments so if you still want them just install the fonts.

Any news or explanation or even fix for the white map syndrome? It seems that quit a few people have had it, but no one at all from the team has even mentioned anything regarding it. Is it possibly a graphics thing?

I have an ATI card myself. Maybe thats causing it.

No one in the team had any problem with the map AFAIK (not sure if any of them had an ATI card, which, like you said, seems to have problems with EU3 graphics in one way or the other).
dharper had some sort of a problem with the map before, but I don't think that was the case after he got a new laptop.

Well, i never expirienced this problem before, so maybe something changed in the new map file?

Is there any data/info i can post that would help anyone work out whats going on?

edit: The terrain map is fine, its all of the other ones that have the problem.

Andy-Man, I'm aware of the problem. I was expecting someone to mention it. I will try to have a solution by the end of this week. Basically I need to make kind of a 2.12 version of the map. However, I wanted to see if I can make one incorporating as many of the new features as possible

Yeah that is what I thought too. Is it something to do with the 2.0b or whatever pixelshader that you are using? Also I have an older ATI card as well, and I get the white political map too. Basically I have decided to wait to play because I spend most of my game in the political map, so it just looks funny and I can't get used to looking at things in the terrain map.

Not calling anyone out either, just stating my choice to wait on a possible fix, and I have gotten so used to your map that I can't handle TOT anymore. The funny thing is that before your map I LOVED TOT...lol

No need to wait! I just finished it

Please check and let me know if it works.

That did the trick! Knew that it would be it, even though I had never run 2.21 I remembered hearing that some were experiencing this issue. Thanks for the prompt fix!

Thanks for the great work Strannik, Paradox should have used you for Vanilla

Out of curiosity, what causes the issue?

I'm still having the "white map" problem with v2.13. At high levels of zoom, v2.13 does work (and the map looks beautiful), but if I zoom in on the terrain map, the forests turn into white blocks.

I usually play with the political map on--which worked fine for me with both versions. Nevertheless, I thought that I would mention it for completeness' sake.

Andy-Man, the issue is caused by using pixelshader 2.0. The 2.13 version doesn't use it and limits the amount of conditional operators I can use. This is why I need to leave some stuff out.

Mentat, did you turn off 'Trees' on the in-game 'Menu->options->graphics'?

The thing I don't get is that my vid card actually has pixel shader 2.0 yet it has this issue. I am using the last possible update to my drivers so I just can't figure it out. Doesn't matter since this works but it drives me a little crazy that for some reason it doesn't work.
