Let's see if you'll be able to crush that Brittany beachhead. Italy looks stabilized at the Gothic Line, but the Eastern Front is always a worry.

***Intelligence Report:30th August 1944***

British Army has been almost totally destroyed in Brittany.

Increased Allied armour build-up near the Gothic Line in Italy.

Brittany is almost certainly secured, send your rear troops (the ones just sitting behind the front lines) over to Russia and Italy! Maybe strategic redeployment or something?

Following weeks of fierce fighting in France, British hopes of opening up a "Second Front" evaporated after they were dealt a crushing defeat.German forces are currently being redeployed.Hitler has ordered many armoured divisions back to Germany where he hopes to use them as the first pieces of a "mighty new army" which we will be used to hit back at the Russians. Many of Hitlers generals don't share his optimism though.Latest intelligence reports suggest that the Red Army has over 1800 land brigades and that it is fast upgrading its forces. The fear is that currently the German forces on the Eastern Front would not be able to stand up to a significant Soviet offensive. There is also a lot of disagreement amongst the German generals over the long term strategy and how best to deal with the Red Army. Some even advocate an invasion of Britain now that its army is weakened, thereby giving German industrial capacity the boost it would no doubt need to tackle the Soviets. Some Generals want to see a quick defeat of Allied forces in Italy and the securing of small oil supplies in North Africa and possibly the Middle East, arguing that without increased fuel stockpiles, the Red Army can never be defeated.Whatever happens, the final, ultimate decisions, the ones that will no-doubt decide the outcome of this long and bitter conflict, rest in the Fuhrer's hands.

When is the next update? Your little thing there just made me hungry :(

The troops on the frontlines are enjoying a respite from the fighting. There have been 3 skirmishes in Italy when British divisions probed the German defences but were quickly rebuffed.
Heavy Allied and Soviet bombing is taking its toll on German industry causing Hitler to rethink his strategy.
Any idea of an invasion of England has been shelved.Germany has little or no transport capacity and the shift in industry that it would require has been deemed too much of a gamble.
For now the Third Reich is sitting tight, hoping to use this interlude in fighting to take stock of the situation, refocus and work out its next objectives.
Winter is close. Is the Red Army waiting until Spring?

Need... more.... hungry!!!! for... more... please!??!?!?!

Late October 1944.
No major offensives have been reported in Europe.Russians are making progress into an undefended northern Norway following a German troop withdrawal to southern Norway.
Allied and Soviet bombing campaigns continue, however the recently repaired Luftwaffe has managed to subdue it somewhat.
There has been a further increase in the build up of Allied forces in Italy.

New trade deals with Japan have resulted in a small but significant increase in the German fuel stockpiles. However supplies of crude oil are quickly running out. Many of the fuel convoys and their escorts have been sunk by enemy warships though.

The German High Command has taken two important strategic decisions-1.Increased production of fighter planes to protect German industry from heavy bombing.
2.A large build-up of garrisons to take over ports and other strategic places from regular infantry. It has been forecast that once completed, up to 40 or 50 infantry divisions could be freed for the frontline.

No decisions have yet been finalized for future offensive actions.

In November 1944 Allied forces attempted an invasion of Holland with several divisions. The defending German troops fought bravely for several days until the arrival of two infantry divisions from Brugge which eventually helped to defeat the attack.Upon hearing the news of the victory Hitler exclaimed that "British troops will soon be too scared to ever try such childish things again".

Meanwhile, the long-awaited decision to attack Allied forces in Italy has been taken.Troops have been redeployed from northern France and from across the Balkans to support the effort.Preparations are well under way and the German High Command hopes to see the offensive begin in the Spring.

Going on the offensive in Ialy? Eeesh. Not sure if I approve of that. You'll have all the disadvantages then that the Allies do now. :p

TOP SECRET: OPERATION COLISEUM.

The plans for Operation Coliseum, the attack on Allied forces in Italy have reached Hitlers desk.
Germany has assembled 3 Armies for the offensive. On the east coast, 10 Armee(mostly armoured and mechanized divisions) will breakthrough Allied lines before breaking off 1 or 2 corps inland.

hoi31.jpg

On the west coast 19 Armee(mostly armoured and mechanized divisions) will push through the enemy lines, driving down the coast before breaking off 1 or 2 Corps to push inland to meet up with 10 Armee.

hoi32.jpg

In the center, 14 Armee(consisting of mixed infantry, militia, and mountain troops) will hold the line and try to keep Allied forces occupied. It will push forward if it is believed gains can be made.

hoi33.jpg

All available tactical bombers and close-air support have been redeployed to northern Italy to support the offensive. The offensive will begin some time in March when newly produced fighter aircraft reach the area.

OBJECTIVES:
1.To surround and destroy Allied forces.
2.To push south and recapture Rome.

How many divisions do you have compared to the Allies in Italy?

Christ! Do you even have air support? (let alone naval support XD)

Good luck with the operation in Italy. There's always so much happening in one of those late war scenarios, I always find myself just giving up. Maybe I'll try and give it another go, you seem to be doing pretty well.

Operation Coliseum:Report For The Fuhrer

Operation Coliseum began at 5am on 22nd March when the Luftwaffe launched its fighters and bombers. The Luftwaffe was able to gain a strong degree of air supremacy in a short space of time.

hoi31.jpg

The armies on each coast launched the ground offensive.

hoi32j.jpg

Rapid advances were made through enemy lines on the west coast but our army on the east quickly stalled against a dogged and well dug-in enemy.

hoi37n.jpg

There was 3 weeks of bitter fighting.Progress on the west coast was steady and advances were made as planned. However,it wasn't until mid-April that we began to wear down the Allied defences on the east coast.

hoi315.jpg

The offensive has so far lasted several weeks.Fighting has been much harder than anticipated and casualties have been high.Although our Armies have been unable to meet, due to the slow progress on the east coast, Operation Coliseum has been a success so far.We are closing in on Rome and our Field Marshalls have determined that the enemy is almost broken.

hoi317.jpg

REPORT FROM THE EASTERN FRONT

Since the commencement of Coliseum, several large-scale skirmishes have broken out on the Eastern Front. It is possible that the Soviet Army is preparing for a summer offensive.

Great job with Italy, try and reinforce your troops on the Eastern front! Or are they all just HQs? :O

As Operation Coliseum proceeds in Italy there have been a number of developments in the east. Red Army troops backed up by significant air power hit the German defensive line forcing a local tactical retreat and the loss of three provinces.

Turkey joins Allies! Hitler was furious to learn that Turkey had joined the Allies.Shortly afterwards Turkish troops attacked Bulgaria.Germany's Balkan forces are on standby to intervene.

At the request of Hitler, Hungary sends several of its divisions to the Eastern Front to help strengthen certain weak areas.
