Hi community,

id like to start with a disclaimer:

- This is my first AAR, I foresee utter fail(the murphy way) but prophecy the odd pearl of win

- English is not my preferred language so please bear with me

- While writing this i have allready played the game till september 1938

- I need to get some screens uploaded but fail at hosting

- I wont cheat(at least I hope so)

- I will use every gamey exploit I get my hands on to acquire my eventual goal

- I should not write all this nor should I play a game like HOI during exam time

- Therefore I will try to limit the updates to this AAR to maybe once a day

- To help keep this AAR from spiraling in the evergrowing pile of page 2+ i will use the tried and true democrAARcy to name units, set DOW dates and general agenda...

- So lets start with the basics:

Game: HOI III v1.1 using DiDay's Enhanced Graphical Counters Mod
Scenario: Road to wAAR German Empire
Difficulty: VH
AI setting: No AI touches my empire:rolleyes:
Goal: VP Domination
Game started: August 21st 2009
Game speed: not enjoyable:rolleyes:(it gave me the idea too write an AAR, damn you paradox;))
Historical? Not really but i try the odd resemblance(who would read Germany AARs after all when it plays historically...?

cheers
Alex

Welcome! For image hosting you could try sites like imageshack or photobucket, just make sure to convert them to jpg's first. And, as for your first escort carrier, I vote for the venerable name "Myth Sucks." Or "Scharnhorst." :D

You sir are a clever one. Now you have acquired also the right too name the future BC f.k.a. "Scharnhorst".:D

Der Anschluss

After blackmailing the austrian chancellor into submission, the way is cleared for the Wehrmacht to take control of the former austrian republic. Now the foundation for an axis that, will hold the crumbling world together for a thousand years to come, has been laid in the restoration of the first reich. The plan of the NSDAP leadership was to form a mighty federation by force and finesse stretching from the Atlantic to the Indian Ocean.

Of course the dwindling Entente powers will not stand by and watch as Hitlers croonies rob the ressources that bring world domination.
The UK and France allready reestablished a common security chain to save poland from quick anexation.

Will the Entente be swift enough too convince the Cechz that a common defense is better than isolated neutrality?
Will the Reich strike before 1943 the year which the german generality sees as the earliest feasible date for war?

You the readAARs will find out more than soon in the next update.

Behold the migthy Axis of world pwnage

You're certainly spreading the Axis far and wide! Are those...Mexico and Bolivia?

You're certainly spreading the Axis far and wide! Are those...Mexico and Bolivia?

ATM Axis consists of:

Germany
Italy
Ethiopia
Hungary
Bulgaria
Persia
Nat Spain
Portugal

Soon to be ready for membership:
Romania
Turkey
Afghanistan
and

The USA:rofl:

See the pattern?
I want the axis reaching right into india, if not by alliance then by transit rights.

Next major update will explain the OOB i choose and some of the tricks i wanna use to give me the advantage against the VH AI.

Nice strategy. I mistook the Ethiopian flag for the Bolivian and the Persian for the Mexican. :p

Yeah they are not the hippest places around but they got exactly the borders I need:cool:

BTW I really enjoy your Italy AAR, keep it up.

Id really like to game on a bit but i got to be @ work in 5 hours, need a nap...

Ok gang,

things got out of hand on christmas 1938. I remembred from old games that the munich agreement is disabld in 1939. So i rushed the decision on 26th of december and half a week later i took prag. As an digestiv i took a memel and wonderd afterwards why i look so good diplomacy wise. I accumulated about 60 threat trhough my little christmas shopping spree. But i suppose its splitted around the world maybe with neighbours being more threatened.USA is stillcoming with 3.6 towards axis, so i suppose ill be fine in game terms as long as i dont declare formal war on anyone.

Which brings me to my dayly readAAR question(maybe the most important one though iam not totaly sold on that):

Give me a DOW date(maybe the brithday of someones exwife:rofl:)!

edit: excuse the spelling torture, I recognize most mistakes even though iam totally drunk. Maybe after work tomorrow Ill catch them out.

BTW behold my Achse

Oki, I have to restrict democraarcy abit. I want to use Danzig or War and it only triggers after May1st. But since I did not want to sign the molotov pact anyway, i could easily avoid danzig or war and get to business earlier. Poles are weak atm(at least canaris hopesso lol).

oki, iam out of time, dunno wether to keep the save and play on or start again April 8th:p

Had i waited till autumn, all would have been easier. Now my threat lvl pushes away turkey and all, my achse is broken:rofl:

see for yourself after 2 months of war...

2months.jpg

shall i try for more...

Wow, Germany's got quite a few allies. Or conquered territories. Whichever. :p

But its armies are tiny. Only with successfull commando ops against enemy VPs those territories could be captured. War was definatly too early, because now spain will suffer. And i dont even want to talk partisans...

I have only 2 PzDivs and some 40 inf divs(4 combatbrigades mostly). I really shouldnt have invested in the navy so much, but now i have some real hitting power i have to test(not done many naval engagements yet). I surely miss my paras, but they wont be ready till september, which is another reason for a later war.
The modifiers for VH are 40% in combat, which is hefty and diminishes results mostly in combats that were tight before(river crossings, night attacks, all sort of amphibious attempts,...)

This is a real challenge.
:D

edit: I wanted to note that all my land forces fit in a single army group, i was cheap on officiers and it worked out quite nicely, but i crave for mor tanks, i should have kept fritsch for is practical delay decrease...
