HOI3 OOB Viewer / Save Game Parser and Converter

http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=447327

There are two small tools here:

Hoi3 Save Game Converter

Converts a .hoi3 file to a XML file, so it becomes then easier to read and query save game data. However the drawback is that the conversion is slow - takes about 10 seconds on my computer. It is a command line tool that takes two arguments: the input file (a .hoi3) and the output file, where the XML are going to be saved.

The intentions for the future are:

* Speed up conversion process
* Add conversion from XML to Hoi3 file

Hoi3 OOB Viewer

Current features:

New in version 0.6:
* No need anymore to convert to/from XML, now reading directly from the savegame and writing to it in a much more faster way.
* You can edit the names of units directly in the tree!
* You can reorganize your army by drag and drop!

Be careful - I advise backing up your save games since some bugs can still exist.

Other features:
* Tree view of the entire OOB, including air and sea units
* Armed forces statistics, including total of divisions by type
* Sortable, ctrl+c-ctrl+v-able all countries report for easy comparison between global powers

The intentions for the future are:

* Finish the org-chart like view
* Expand editing capabilities
* Expand visualization and editing beyond just OOBs
* Add more reporting capabilities (ex. ships sunk, theater force distribution etc).

All feedback is very welcomed. I plan also to release the source code here, after it is more mature and organized. But the source is perfectly viewable with tools like Reflector.

Requirements

.NET Framework 3.5.

How to use

No install needed. Just unzip somewhere and run Hoi3OOBViewer.exe.

HOI3 Editor
v0.75 (Open Beta)

tech-1.jpg

map-1.jpg

Instructions
  1. You need .Net Framework 3.5 SP1
  2. I took the liberty of disabling fields as the desired result wouldn't occur.
  3. When running for the first time, set the directory under Options->Directories.
  4. Mods (in the mod directory) are not officially supported. I gurantee a 50% failure rate.
  5. Changes are not saved across multiple provinces/leaders/ministers/units/technologies/etc, so make sure you save each one.
  6. This is Beta for a reason. Don't expect everything to work 100% on the first try, so I would recommend making a backup HOI3 folder and edit there. However I have tried editing every field and it has worked to expectations, but this may not be for everyone.
  7. To use the 'Map' feature on the province page, you must first 'Load Data'
  8. I recommend this program (for right now) to those people who know what they're doing. I have added no validation commands so you're on your own.
I will try to update this often until I feel that this is at a 'stable point', so check back here weekly.

Remember for each new version to set the directories! :)

Note about using Mods: When using an extending mod (a mod that uses HOI3 files + its own), the mod has precedence over HOI3 files, but if the mod doesn't extend leaders then vanilla leaders will be shown and they are still editable.

The HoI3 Map Patch Project v0.8

http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=422419

The HoI3 Map Patch Project v0.8
Completely compatible with HoI3 patch v1.2

Some will probably know me already. For those who don't, just take a look at the Rome Improved Map Project (see signature) so you can see what I and the team have done for that game. Sadly IMO the vanilla Hearts of Iron III map is in a bad shape and thus requires some fixing and modding. That's why I have made a small mod currently that adds urban terrain to many provinces that should have deserved to be urban in vanilla HoI3.

As like in RIMP thread for EU: Rome the best form for mod advertisement are screenshots, thus I will show you some of the work I did for the vanilla map.

mappatchuppoland1.jpg

NOTE: In v0.7 there have been some changes concerning Poland, all names were changes by using Dominik's work, furthermore Kraków is one province more to the west.

mappatchupgermany1.jpg

antwerpenport.jpg

Belgium now has more accurate borders, which means that Bruxelles is now no longer on the French border. Also from v0.8 Antwerp has been given a functional port.

europeanrussiariverover.jpg

Many new rivers have been added and improved in v0.7 for European Russia

belgiumyo.jpg

The new map mode as introduced by paradox in v1.2 is now available

As you can see this mod currently focuses on adding urban terrain and cities. Currently the following cities/urban areas have been added:

Europe:
- Barcelona
- Bordeaux
- Budapest
- Bucuresti
- Dresden
- Düsseldorf
- Istanbul
- Kjiv
- Kharkov
- Kraków
- Koln
- Liverpool
- Praha
- Manchester
- Marseille
- Minsk
- Milan
- Naples
- Odesa
- Rotterdam
- Rostov-na-Don
- Valencia
- Wien

Africa:
- Cairo

Asia:
- Bombay
- Hiroshima
- Madras
- Manila
- Osaka
- Seoul
- Tokyo

Americas:
- Los Angeles
- Mexico city

I also moved Stalingrad, Warszawa, Kraków and Moskva and Kjiv to locations which are a lot more accurate! You can see the proof in the above pictures. You shouldn't be afraid to use this mod because of the Orders of Battle as I moved the province, thus meaning that for the game Stalingrad is still the same Stalingrad.

There are also some provinces that have cities displayed in them, but lack the urban province modifier due to the fact that their cities are too small in comparison with the overall province size.

Installation instructions:
Because this mod alters some provinces to a minor extend it is best to extract it in your current HoI3 folder. You should however make a backup of your current vanilla "map" folder so that you can also return to vanilla in case you don't like this mod without needing to reinstall your game.

Note that if people like my work I will upload new versions with more improvements.

Credits:
- Van Diemen, creating the new map and changing province terrain
- Dominik, for allowing me to use his improved Polish province names
- Aidan, for assisting me in creating the new texture files for v0.6

Realistic Division MOD

http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=438783

CREATING THE REALISTIC DIVISION (Current version 0.3)

Greetings all,
This mod allows you, the player, and the AI to create more realistic divisions out of the available vanilla brigades. Assuming that the 3,000 strength brigades are standard combat arm regiments and the 1,000 man brigades are standard combat support battalions (aside from artillery), this mod has, with some small changes, made far more realistic divisions possible.

For instance, the OOB of most divisions included 3 combat regiments, an artillery regiment and several support battalions. Let's look at the 7th Panzer Division OOB:

25 Panzer Regiment
66 Panzer Battalion
7 Motorcycle Battalion
6 Motorized Infantry Regiment
7 Motorized Infantry Regiment
37 Reconnaissance Battalion
78 Motorized Artillery Regiment
58 Motorized Combat Engineer Battalion
42 Antitank Battalion

That's 4 regiments and 5 battalions...a total of 9 bdes...but basically buildable (without a bde cap) in HoI3. As we can see, this would mean that many divisions would be 5-9 bdes, and each would have the "abstracted" units in a vanilla division "unabstracted" to be built and used....as such:

This means that the rather un-used AA, AT, Arty and Eng are mainstays of every army. There would be realistic numbers of troops in each division and a reason to research the support bde techs!! An initial problem with creating this mod was the AI production. The problem was fixed fortunately....below is a screenshot of one of the German AI's standard INF divisions. Note that the AI made this one, not me.

This is the brainstorming and testing stage for this mod. What I need is for anyone concerned to voice their opinion and offer some aid. Obviously there are several concerns, listed below.

Testing
1. Make sure that the combat is relatively unchanged, and that the losses, org, and other factors end up similar to vanilla.
2. Ensure that all the AI divisions are properly being deployed and utilized.
3. Make sure the manpower issue is resolved (that there's enough).
4. Fun.
5. Production works alright.

Any ideas about how to better mod this? Should the stats not be played with much? If so, we have to balance the air units to be stronger against ground units in attack and defense. Should stats be made equal to the "vanilla" division as per my suggestion? Can we make new support brigades or should be increase hidden mp costs to model medical and signal types?
Play it and let us know.

Thanks to Darkzodiak for the script files, which really helped me to create this mod!
Thanks to Azeno and the AIIP guys for more script files, which made this work better with 1.3

Have fun, let me know what you think.

Also, if you can help me put this into the mod file, I can make it so that you do not have to overwrite your vanilla game.

Finally, if you like even more realism, you can use my brigade name mod in conjunction with this one. When doing so, you have to put up with the same brigade names for each nation, but as you can see the result is pretty cool...

These screens are all AI produced division, by the way! I have yet to add to the existing OOBs and the production templates. Those things are next on the list.

Arreglo para la paz amarga

UPDATED, see below

Changelog:

-Added new effects, thanks to dertechie

v1.1:
-Added Non-Aggression-Pacts between SOV and GER and SOV and JAP to avoid immediate wars

v1.0:
Regions are now correctly assigned, SU no longer gets Bessarabia and Karelia after BP.

No totalmente.

http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/...d.php?t=420796

To install, just extract to your "hearts of iron 3/mod"-directory.

Either start the mod from the launcher, or for steam users; right click on the game in the steam launcher
and choose "properties". Then set the following launch option: -mod CounterAttakk

http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=420796
