Enjoy your stay in our unsaully snowy country.

Just started playing my first proper HOI3 game. (lappy couldnt play it needed to fix main comp)

I put it down when i got it for being frustratingly slow. but your AAR has inspired me to play again.

eageliy awaiting update.

Snow in Europe is cool really, in fact, in my entire life I have not seen a single white Belgian winter, untill now :p.

Time to dig up those 'new ice age' theories then?

Maj. von Mauser: The Med Fleet is at least twenty times more dangerous to my aviators than the Soviet Black Sea Fleet was. :p

Ahriman: Thanks! It all more or less went off well. :p

FlyingDutchie: You mean in Batum harbor? During this period in game? Or altogether? :p

Tomatoes: Thanks! Though this is my fourth year in the country. ;)

Maj. von Mauser: Snowball fights!! :p

TRP: Shhh...;)

I meant altogether. Jusk curious how bad the Royal Navy got mauled :D.

I just love snow.:) I'm glad people in Europe are getting to enjoy it for once!:D

FlyingDutchie: Looking through the stats, I've sunk 1 BC, 2 CAs, 5 CLs and other sundry ships. No BBs or CV(L)s. Germany's doing other good work though, having sunk 2 BBs and 1 CV, plus lots of other ships. But their own fleet has been hammered hard too. And of course, I've damaged (but not sunk) a lot more besides. :p

Maj. von Mauser: Hehe, it depends on what you do that you enjoy it or not...;)

Update tomorrow evening hopefully! I've actually had a full night's rest now, and a shower besides, so I feel better. But some tiredness is coming back and my shoulders are stiff as hell. :p

We explored another strategy. You aren't sinking enough ships!

Your sinking stats would be much better with a blob of BBs escorted by something cheap enough to replace quickly... But you wouldn't have Carriers to show off.

Makes me think that a consensus of building 4x CVL pre-war for port strike and then adding two or three stacks of BB+DD is the way to go for Italy. :)

delra: Not necessarily. My naval strategy is fairly conservative, after all. I can't afford decisive battles, so I'm avoiding them. And as long as I have the Med Fleet bottled up by my lesser naval units (BBs and their escorts), that'll do for me. It has nearly the same strategic effect as sinking them, after all. :p

Okay, hopefully I'll have an update tomorrow evening!

Myth : Does WHERE you place your HQ's have any effect on the supplies reaching your combat units? -say : is it better to place a local HQ in a port or city 4-5 areas from the front, or right behind the troops to be supplied?

BlitzMartinDK: I have no idea. :p

coolluigi007: I don't think so, but I really don't know the mechanics of this game as I did the second. :p

I'll write that update for tonight later, guys!

Supply and HQ are entirely independent as far as I can tell. I've had Cops HQs on different supply nets to the fighting Divisions and not had any more supply difficulty for those formations than for neighbouring divisions which had their Corps local.

So do you need to risk your hq in a combat situation at all? can't you just leave all your HQ's back in Berlin? -sounds a bit crazy...

This discussion basically sums up my understanding of HQs as well. *nod* Also, I completely forgot to write an update today, half due to the fact that I have a presentation to give tomorrow and I hadn't even started the research, and other halfly due to a few emails I've sent out concerning stuff along the lines of internships and all that. So no update tonight. Tomorrow though, tomorrow! This time I'll remember! :p

I was looking at one of your recent updates, and completely mis-read the map... Thought I was looking at the Soviets in Palestine!

I thought I'd been keeping up on this reasonably well, but obviously I'd missed something! :D

It was the Black Sea, of course...

Carry on!

Definitely enjoying reading this AAR.

After I get some things looked at on the tech support forum. I'll be playing HOI3 as Communist China.

Good luck against the Soviets though. :D

I got told something new (for me, that is..) about HQ's.. There apparantly is a logistics effect, from being within a command radius from you HQ('s)..about 100 miles for Corps command, and greater for the other levels. It should have something to do with the level (and speciality) of the commanding officer..???
