Great AAR, i just started reading and i'm ctaching up to everyone but for the past 4 days all pictures are "exceeded bandwith" even if i have a strong computer, never had problems loading your pages before and all pictures in other AAR's appear :/ Does anyone know what the problem is I really wanna keep reading this AAR

Are the Germany expeditionary units surplus to your needs? Everyone complains about getting expeditionary units (I don't seem do get many) but when I get them I use them. I think that while you pay for supplies and upgrades, you don't provide replacement troops for these units. You can either use them to hold a quiet sector or use them for heavy assault tasks. My preference is to use them in quiet sectors but many of your divisions are quite weak and these forces may be much stronger. Combine them into coprs and armies and have them contribute to the master plan.

If you can't ship them to where you might want them (England or Finland), what about sending them back to the German-Russian front. You will still have to pay for their upgrades but then Germany will pay their supply bill. This way, you could develop some control over what the rest of the front is doing.

The next step into Russia does not have the many advantages this last operation had (secure flanks, significant sea access and a significant bottle-neck). If the risks are too great, perhaps the capture of India and/or South Africa is a possiblity?

This current operation seems guaranteed to succeed. The next step will be very interesting.

Myth-

After you've mopped up the Balkan pocket I think just jump starting the Germans would make for a great read. I think whatever you do next please don't make it gamey. This Blakan operation was planned out, great to read, and wasn't gamey; not to mention fun to read.

So again for you next operation please it "realistic" like this last one.

True Grit: Ehh dunno about that! I'm pretty busy. ;)

alvaro: Mighty Switzerland...shall fall! Buwhahahaha! Well, maybe. :p

ColossusCrusher: Their added football strength will only make Italy more powerful! :p

Julius2008: It has nothing to do with your computer. I upload my images to photobucket, but that website now has a 10gb per month bandwidth limit. This AAR is apparently popular enough to exceed that. Fortunately, the bandwidth is reset tomorrow I believe. :p

Judas Maccabeus: Hmm, I'm getting competing advise about Switzerland. I shall have to meditate on it. As for the vuvuzela, why? :p

Forster: Nah I upload my screenshots to photobucket. :p

shepherd352: Yeah I don't need the German units at all. They've actually been, quite surprisingly, a bit helpful in clearing pockets but otherwise they're wasting their time and my supplies. And the problem is that I only control less than half of them, especially with this new wave coming in. :p

Jonny5tyle: Don't worry, I'm not a gamey sort of person. I get bored by that stuff too. :p

So I think the next update will be tomorrow, as that's when the bandwidth should reset! If it doesn't, but gets reset later, then we'll just have to wait. This weekend I'm going to be going off to the countryside to celebrate Jani with other Latvians (in Britain), a bit early than normal but then, it ain't a public holiday here. So that's mean no writing over the weekend. And on Monday I'm moving to London, so no writing then. And on Tuesday I'm going to a barbecue so no writing then either! And then on Wednesday I'm going up to Glasgow through to Saturday late afternoon, so no writing then either. Basically, updates are going to be very sparse until July, when I hope to be able to bring them back on schedule, albeit around my incredibly busy work schedule. :p

Baltasar: They might. :p

Enewald: Huh, that's a bugger. :p

BlitzMartinDK: The invasion has begun!

Anyway, just checked photobucket and bandwidth hasn't reset. So unless it does in the next half day, there isn't going to be opportunity for an update for a week or so due to all the stuff I mentioned that's going on. :p

Enjoy your holiday (and moving, and work)! We'll be here when you get back. ;)

True Grit: You'll all be here, and absolutely ravenous for an update!

So yeah, no bandwidth reseting yesterday, which means that the next update will be in a bit more than a week probably, for the reasons mentioned earlier. :p

You got my hopes up for a second there before I realized you were talking about the whale. :p

Well, the bright side is that I'll be able to get some personal HOI3 gaming in. ;)

May not be up to 'Exploration in Strategy...' levels, but it will have to do.:(

Pictures are back up! :D

Wow, that's a lot of green in the Balkans... hopefully once you finish destroying this group of Soviets, the Germans will finally move their armies to where they can do something useful. :p

none my own seem to work

Hey Myth

Great AAR i love reading it too bad we have to wait for an update but it surely will be awesome again ;)

though i have a question on supply because i dont see you having any trouble with it, i my self seem to run in to supply problems every qeust i put my self to maybe its a Noob thing.
in the asian theatre i'am invading french indo china with the U.S. for the second time with four corps of 3\div of infantry 3inf\1art. after that i already retreated the first similar type invasion.
i hold the port in saigon but run into supply troubles cant make supply transports to go there. and they do not seem to go there them self.
it happens to all my invasions.
also i have marines invade an Jap held island but it seems there is no port so the marines are stuck on the ilsland.
anything you can say to solve these kind of problems.
or maybe someting in general on supply chain management in the game.

by reading your AAR i thought you might have the knowledge to answer my question.

with best regards Stef737
p.s. if someone else has answers they are welcome.

@stef737

Read all the information you can on supply. In general, make sure you have ports and improve the infrastructure as you advance. If you land somewhere without a port, have your transports in the adjacent sea area, select your land units and CONTROL Right Click on your transports. Your units will return to the ships.

If your preferred port is not getting supply, turn auto-supply-convoys off (on the production screen, create convoys) and create the convoy you need. You will need to have sufficient supply-transports and escorts are a good idea. You may need to build more. If your selected port is low value, you should improve it. You should also research "Basing" (Naval) to improve port throughput and the two supply techs in Theory to improve land supply performance.

@Myth

Really looking forward to the next step but a good story is worth waiting for.

FrodoB: Personal HoI3 gaming is always good. ;)

Judas Maccabeus: Yeah, hopefully...:p

I Faw Down: 'Cause long ago I chose photobucket, so I'm sticking with it. :p

stef737: Basically what shepherd352 said. In terms of operations, I also try not to over-concentrate my armies. This is largely a personal judgement though, of how much you think the available logistical network can sustain as opposed to how much you think you need to win. If you'll recall, I had supply difficulties in Abyssinia long ago, and that made me careful about supply. That, and my personal play style anyway rests upon using the minimum possible to win (just from my greater experience of playing minors). :p

shepherd352: Hopefully the wait will be worth it! :p

So, I'm back but moving today, whoo. I had about one and a half hours of sleep Saturday night, and spent nine hours sat around a bonfire with other Latvians, talking and singing. Was good, but tiring. Went to bed before 2000 yesterday as I was absolutely shattered. :p

Supply

My 2c.

For far-flung operations in regions of low infrastructure, the best units are militia with either logistical or commando officers. Assign them directly to Theatre HQ to bypass the chain of command. Also, consider tactical bombers in lieu of artillery.

If one must use infantry, armor, or the like, consider air supply to keep the columns moving.
