Postscript
I've finished my story of how France under Charles DeGaulle managed to dominate Europe surpassing even Napoleon's achievements. One reason for choosing the monthly time scale for reports was to ensure DeGaulle (not my favorite Frenchman) did not survive his nation's triumph for too long.
There is no way rebellious Warsaw Pact nations would have been able to endure years of war (Diplomacy's original time scale). Even months (my selected time scale) is really too slow a pace. It's just a heck of a lot easier to calculate monthly turns as opposed to weekly turns.
