VIP:R 0.3 for Victoria:Revolutions Is Now Available

Here is where everyone can offer their opinions, comments and suggestions on the latest version of VIP.

Now, play it, enjoy it and tell us what you think - the good, the bad, and the plain bizarre

The correct installation order for this mod is :
V:R 2.01 + VIP:R 0.3 + VIP:R 0.3 Hotfix 1

NOTE : When released, all VIP hotfixes will have as part of the file name of the downloads VIPR03. If that prefix is not part of the file name you download, it is NOT meant for VIP, but for regular Revolutions. Do NOT install a Revolutions hotfix on top of a VIP installation, it will completely screw up your installation and you will have to uninstall and reinstall.

The developers highly recommend that players create a separate installation of Victoria:Revolutions on their desktop before downloanding the mod. Make a duplicate copy of your Victoria:Revolutions folder from your Hard Drive onto your desktop. As Victoria does not support mod:dir functionality, the separate installation on your desktop will allow you to play base Victoria:Revolutions as certain VIP files must overwrite the base files.

This mod is desinged for and was tested playing at normal difficulty/normal AI aggressiveness levels. Players who play at higher or lower levels may find game behavior to be different from the intentions of the mod.

Due to the large quantity of events and AI files, it is recommended for best performance of the mod that players play the game at moderate speeds (Normal or Above Normal) and save and reload their games every couple of years of gameplay to "refresh" the game engine. Games played at very fast speeds or for extended periods without refreshing run the risk of the engine "skipping" events.

And always remember, VIP is never "finished" - it is a continually evolving mod, and there may very well be bugs, factual errors and other problems even after the extensive testing undertaken. If you do find problems please let us know so that we can include fixes in future versions of the mod.

The developers have lots of plans for expanding the historical and ahistorical elements of the mod in the future, but it requires a great deal of time to turn ideas into game code. We currently have a massive backlog of events to include that have been submitted, and we plan to deal with that backlog over the next few months. If you do not see an event you wrote currently included in VIP, it is "in the in box" waiting to be worked it.

If you would like to see a new event currently not included in the current version of VIP:R 0.3, please post your ideas in the appropriate regional thread in the VIP subforum. And if you would like to contribute your own events to the mod, please post in the appropriate regional thread, as we are always in need of event scripters.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: VIP:R 0.3 is compatible with Victoria:Revolutions v 2.01.
Do NOT use this mod with Victoria 1.4, it will cause errors and will not work.
VIP no longer supports a mod for Victoria without the Revolutions expansion pack

You will have installed the hotfix correctly when at the choice of scenarios you will see the VIP scenarios include the version number 0.301 in the name.

Question to you OH gamer is it easier to run a lategame dictatorship (no monarchy) in this version of VIP? running the Sovjet union was imbossible thanks to high plurity and militancy.

Hurray!!!!

Question to you OH gamer is it easier to run a lategame dictatorship (no monarchy) in this version of VIP? running the Sovjet union was imbossible thanks to high plurity and militancy.

There was some tweaking done with plurality to lower it for lategame dictatorships.

We'll need more feedback from players though to get an idea if more needs to be done.

Have you reworked the flags for countries in the liberal revolution event to make sure certain countries (Ottomans, Russia, Portugal etc.) don't get it? As Portugal, I had the end of the liberal revolution without it ever starting. Looking at the triggers, all countries set that way will get that effect.

Edit: Also, event 157618 should be an event for ENG, not FRA. It's in the Mahdist event chain.

Well spotted! I had wondered why I got the end of the liberal revolution event before without the liberal revolution firing firing itself. Now I know!

I'd also like to report that if you defeat Spain as Carlist Spain then you will get some error messages still come up. Press ignore for these and the game should continue working. Personally I'd like to annhilate this bug entirely by having "Isabelino Spain" as a seperate nation too (that's the only way I think we can get rid of the error messages altogether). However, the current fix for this issue enables there to not be any CTD's, which is better than before. :)

In event 137203 in the Sino-Japanese event chain, option b still triggers the same event as option a, which doesn't make any sense. I think it's meant to be a sleepevent command instead of a trigger command.

yep. that is what it should be.

When is the first bugfix coming out?:)

(Its my policy never to install the first version of anything. The horror that was Apocrypha)

On a more serious note, what has changed in South-East Asia? I would be glad to playtest with an ahistoric Japan.

Biggest change is Dutch East Indies separate from Netherlands (a la British India and Britain).

Unless something severely bad in terms of bugs comes up, not planning on a hotfix for probably a month, and to be honest the more people playing 0.3 now and reporting these small things, the better. Even with beta testing, things slip through since there are only just so many eyes watching.
