CHAPTER VI
The End of the Beginning

June '37-June '38[/

With the outbreak of Civil war in Spain, France was forced to rethink their tactics towards the Second American Civil War. The major marine force in Cholet was redirected the Spanish border. The Commune of France always had and had always kept hostile and unfriendly relations towards the Kingdom of Spain and this was the perfect time to strike and install a Syndicalist regime under the CNT-FAI that had asked for assistance during the Third Internationale the previous year. Shortly before declaring war on the Kingdom of Spain and the Carlists in the north the Chief of the Army, Jacques Doriot met with the Mexican cabinet and officials to discuss the impending attack on the United States and Spain in a joint effort to spread syndical socialism into the two countries. As planned Mexico would invade the American Union State-controlled Texas with the addition of an amphibious assault on New Orleans and move inland. On June 10th the Third Internationale declared war on the both the Kingdom of Spain and the American Union State. In Spain there would be two main operations to secure the downfall of the Monarchy, Operation Nord and Operation Sud under Field Marshall Koeltz who was originally to land near Miami which would be called off at the start of the Spanish Civil War and he was redeployed on the border.

Within the first few months of war in the United States the French aligned but not allied Combined Syndicates of America was making great progress on the Eastern Coast of America and its victory over the American Union State was imminent. Meanwhile the United States government retreated to Denver to set up its new capital in the central North American continent as the West Coast had declared independence as the Pacific States of America (PSA) and threatened war if provoked.
During the later months of 1937 as the East Coast had been completely taken over by the Combined Syndicates of America and the American Union State’s surrender was imminent, Daniel Guerin made numerous trips to Chicago and Washington D.C. to talk and set up plans with Jack Reed and his prime minister. Although there was some early hostility between the prime minister of the Combined Syndicates of America who himself was a devoted Social Democrat, these were settled by Reed who announced that after the war the Combined Syndicates would consider officially joining the Internationale Military Cooperation Pact. Put aside their democratic differences when it came to authoritarianism the Commune of France and the Combined Syndicates of America where becoming close to allies in what was known as the Great Socialist Revolution of 1937. Before the end of 1937 the Great Socialist Revolution was beginning to journey to other parts of the world as well including renewed Bolshevik movements in Russia to contest the newly recreated Tsar that they had forced into abdication during the February Revolution of 1917. Also in response to the Great Socialist Revolution the ANZSSM (Australia New Zealand Syndical Socialist Movement) attempted a coup d’état supported by the Internationale which failed but issued a strong warning the powers who did not submit.

The Romandy Crisis
When the American and Spanish Civil Wars began to turn in Syndicalist favour the Commune of France’s government, enthralled with confidence, demanded that the Swiss Confederation cede the Region of Romandy to its original French people. The Swiss Confederation was in reality the country the marked the meeting point of three major ethnic groups of Europe, the Germans in the North, the French in Romandy and the Italians in the South. This meant the French had a reason to gain more territory as was the true point of the expedition rather than to free French Swiss to live in part of their Syndicalist homeland. Although the Swiss originally responded in disgust at the greediness of the French government, the redeployment of many Italian border troops persuaded the Swiss the give a major part of their nation in the west. The Treaty of Nice demanded international recognition over the French sovereignty in Romandy and immediate withdrawal of Swiss troops. Faced with strong opponents in the Internationale the Swiss Confederation signed the treaty and allowed the Commune of France set up the Province of Romandy centred around the city of Geneva.
The early months of 1938 showed that the in the Great Socialist Revolution victory was close at hand with the Combined Syndicates of America moving inland towards the retreating United States government which had been shaken at the loss of their president and the proceeding military taking over the government under General Douglas MacArthur which forced that Pacific States of America to join the Second American Civil War.
The Indian Conflict
In mid February as the Civil War in Spain was close to finish and the American Union State had been wiped from the American Continent, the continuous border conflicts between the three major nation states of India began to escalate between the Syndicalist Bengalis and the regime of the Princely Federation. Absolute war was declared on February 19th 1938 between the two nations. Delhi acted quickly in denouncing the actions of the two nations and threatened war with both of them unless it could be resolved. To help promote this the Dhillu government signed a military alliance with the British Monarchy-in-exile in Canada officially joining the new Entente. Tensions where rising in India and war was imminent, the King of the United Kingdom-in-exile Edward VIII announced that new Entente would give complete military support for the Dhillu government for war against the Bengalis and Princely Federation. Daniel Guerin issued a statement directed at the Canadian government condemning the offer of complete military support and that these were the type of arrogant British actions that lead to their defeat in the Great War and that this move could only end in more war. Despite obvious condemning from the Syndicalist and Socialist world the Entente continued to move in a hostile direction towards the Commune of France and Bengal. Sébastien Faure issued a follow up statement announcing that in light of the Entente’s arrogance the Internationale Military Cooperation Pact would send supplies, ammunition and training officers to Bengal to help them fight for their survival against the Monarchist and Capitalist regimes.
On April 17th the Second American Civil War ended with the only two factions who were not at war with each other, the Great Combined Syndicates of America and the capitalist Pacific States of America declaring victory over the United States and the American Union State. The Combined Syndicates set up their capital in Chicago where they had begun over a year ago.

Frontlines at the End of the the Civil War

13 days later on the 1st of May the Spanish Civil War ended after two successful French Operations (Nord and Sud). Although there seemed to be victory in the Great Socialist Revolution the war that changed the world politically had begun for 3 days previous the Second Great War had begun as recognized by historians for on 28 April the nation of Delhi, who was now officially part of the Entente, declared war on the Princely Federation and Bengal, who had been part of the Internationale Military Cooperation Pact since 1936.

THE SECOND GREAT WAR BEGINS
Hearing of the Syndical victory in Spain the Nationalist French, who controlled the old French colonial territories of Algeiria and neighbouring territories, the sworn enemies of the Commune and part of the Entente invaded the Federation Anarqista Iberica territory in Northern Morocco where nothing but a Syndical training ground instructor and small amount of CNT-FAI militants held them back. Hearing of this the French government immediately ordered the use of counter attack from Koeltz’s Army stationed in Gibraltar. Just before departing into North Africa for a retaliation attack consisting of 10 divisions the main Nationalist Navy entered the strait of Gibraltar and attacked and devastated the transports leaving two leaderless division and their transports to return to southern France.
The Second Great War had begun.

This marks the end of the first volume in the Chronicles of the Commune. I will be taking a short break for the while from writing (a short breaks means a couple of weeks btw). To rap up where we are:
Syndicalists have rebelled and taken power in the eastern part of the former United States and Spain and world war has started with the new Entente fighting the Internationale Military Cooperation Pact. Currently Germany has a neutral status in the war acting as the Soviet union did in our timeline (But I dont have any plans to take on the Mitteleuropa any time soon while we are still at war with the Entente) in the early years of the war. I hope to see you all and some new people in the next volume of the CHRONICLES OF THE COMMUNE: A Commune of France Kaiserreich AAR.:):)

VOLUME II
THEIR FINEST HOUR

My great people the arrogance of the leaders of the Capitalist world has lead to me standing here today in front of you ready to announce the following. We must unite as brothers of the Syndicalist ideology where in our great nations our people are equal and all is fair to fight the dictating regimes of the Capitalist scum of the Entente who hope to bask in the glory of a defeat twenty years ago that lead to the 1st Great Syndicalist Revolution. No we must fight together to rid the world of their arrogant stuck-up monarchies and capitalists for we are the only nations that can be truly be known as democratic! We originally appealed to these barbarians with mutual agreement but soon enough we where back-stabbed and now the Allied entity in Hindustan has tried to attack our brothers in Democratic People's Republic of Bengal. The Entente leaders in Canada and the traitors in Africa acted out of their arrogance and pride to support these war-mongers in India and now the soldiers of Delhi advance on our allies with full Capitalist support and what shall the great Internationale do? We must come to the side of our brothers. I declare a state of war against the Entente!
- Chairman Faure in his speech announcing the war
