Europe in 1399.

It is a time of change and danger. The era of crusader kings is at en end. Power shifts, sailors bring strange tales from their journeys, new weapons transform warfare. For over two centuries the Kings of the Normans and the Emperors of Burgundy have respected an uneasy truce, contend to compete for influence in lesser kingdoms. But that peace seems more precarious than ever as old claims resurface and a series of brutal assassinations bring the two powers on the verge of open war.

Once-beaten enemies watch this with eager eyes and bid their time for revenge.

Wrestled from the Holland by the Billungs, Lotharingia is once against on the path to glory, having conquered vast swaths of Russian grounds from the last Rurikovitchs. In Greece and Bulgaria, the flag of Byantium rises again. And beyond the borders of Christendom, the sultanates of Qarakhnid and Zirid await the opportunity to storm Europe and spread the world of Muhammad.

This is the continuation of our grand campaign, on Fridays EST 21:00-1:00 AM.

After a false start we decided to reboot, so it is an especially good time for new players to join. Not that they will become unwelcome later on, of course...

Rules

General rules :

• if two players show up and one of them can host, there will be a game that night.
• don't take things personally. This is a game not real life.
• keep a correct, respectful tone. This is a game not a message board.

Game rules :

• no sow discontent
• no known exploits
• no stack of ships greater than 200
• no attacking players who are AIed. After three weeks of absence though they become fair game
• A player can DOW another player's vassal IF { that vassal is not allied with its overlord AND the player has no truce with the overlord }
• always acknowledge and answer peace proposals. It is good form to come with a counter-propositions.
• at least 50% of your forces must be infantry. This is in terms of regiments, not men, and it applies to your entire forces, not individual corps. You can still field pure cavalry or artillery stacks if you want, as long as there is an equivalent number of infantry regiments somewhere else.
• an exception to the aforementioned rule is when, at war, stacks of infantry are wiped. In that case the player can keep his supernumerary regiments but can build nothing but infantry until he gets the right ratio. If peace is signed before that, he must scrap the supernumerary regiments.
• a given country can not be allied to more than two others, human or AI. This is to prevent mega-alliances to deadlock the situation. This is not the 20th century. Vassals, however, do not count toward that limit.
• bargains between players will NOT be enforced. If a player does not hold his side of a bargain he made, the sanction is to have other players know it and act in consequence.
• you cannot make peace demands over 100% warscore. Again, this is not the 20th century. To prevent any controversy make a screenshot of your peace-offering
• you cannot hunt rebels in another player's territory if that player is involved in a war in which you do not take part.
• For the same reason, you can not hunt pirates in sea-zones bordering his coasts, unless, of course, they also border yours.

• I, Kuipy am our marginally competent, mostly benevolent, game master and write in bold in this capacity.

These rules are, to an extent, open to discussion. Voice your concern if you think a rule is bad or missing.

Sorry Kuipy, but I need to withdraw. I can't be reliably on time or even show up for the next few weeks at the very least. But, IMO, N.Africa, Spain, and Central West Africa needed some edits to make it more attractive...

Central West Africa ? You mean Mali and such ?

I don't think Spain is unattractive, to be honest. It is richer than me and in a better/almost as good position to colonize, depending on its target.

Yes Mali, either by fluke or conversion, Mali was entirely Sunni by the time I could have gotten to them, meaning no insta state culture. and North Africa, my complaints have already been voiced, the State religions are Catholic but the province religion is Sunni, making it entirely crappy to conquer as you have to take stab to war and gold to convert. Yes it can colonize, if Burgundy doesn't swallow it first, and its sliders suck pretty badly.

It was interesting, but good luck on a fun game.
