Regarding the Fighter Focus/Bomber Focus and Front/Reserve Focus, what other effects do the doctrines have? More org, better efficiency for certain missions (Air Superiority for Fighter, Air Interception for Bomber), better tactical position to start the dogfight?

How are interceptions and the ensuing air combat handled with multiple province moves per hour and different speed aircraft? I assume the system has been overhauled from 18th century line infantry at 10,000 feet :D

Looks Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My question is; if you have a four stack with 3 tac bombers and 1 fighter how does the AI utilize the planes available? Is the effective range limited to the fighters like in previous versions, or will the tac bombers be able to fly independently when attacking a target with the fighter group providing cover as far as their range permits?

I would think the stack would be limited to fighter range... the solution might be to seperate the fighter and give it air superiority mission, defining the "cone" of the mission (range + angle) so the fighters sweep around as far as they can...

In other good news, in the "Italy tech" youtube clip there is a "drop tanks" air tech, so looks like we'll be able to design long-range fighters. :D

WOW! I am beginning to get blown away by the depth of this game. Keep it coming.

Can't agree more to that :D Actually it all looks too good to be true...a dream...a beautiful one. Hope I don't wake up :D

I must say Paradox has come a long way from Hoi 1, with so many other good titles in between, but this release will truely be a masterpiece, if one can enjoy all that is promised/listed in the diaries.

Air power rests at the apex of the first triad of victory...

Yes. Mobility, flexibility and initiative.

Is there a real world reference? I just remember it from Alpha Centauri. :)

EDIT: Almost forgot. Good DD. Just thinking if AI controlled Western Allies will take the historical route and have Air Armies doing mainly strategic bombings, instead of CAS/TAC wings attached to Armies or Corps.

I'm actually more "worried" about the things that aren't in the dev diaries. Mostly about things that can't be shown in screenshots, like the AI. On the other hand I'm perfectly confident that PI is able and experienced enough to deliver a marvelous game.

I would say: maneuver, protection, firepower
;)

What will be the difference of Air intercept mission and Air superiority mission?

Air interception will be where you have planes on the ground that intercept enemy air forces that enter into their zone of control. ZOC is an area that you define.

Air superiority are probably where your air force actively tries to seek out enemy confrontation. Usually in enemy territory. I could also see that fighters would protect friendly bombers that enter into their zone of control using this mission type, thus acting as an escort.

It's probably a trade off between being permanently in the air, ready to fight, but high oil consumption (air superiority), and saving oil by waiting at the ground, but higher chance to miss enemy planes by being surprised/too late in the air (air interception).

Another possibility would be that air superiority targets preferred fighters, air interception preferred bombers.

There is also the possibility that planes on air intercept will be actively vectored to their targets and so will have a better chance of intercepting them.
