As long as the politicians don't muck around with an efficient working bureaucracy, problem is when the bureaucracy goes down the toilet too.

Chile, Peru and Colombia are still allied with the US and are becoming solid democracies.

allied with us americans equals democracy? that might have been so a year and a half ago where we still had a semi democratic system, but with a certain president in office right now we are going down the socialist road. if he gets a second term than we will have no morte free voting by the time he is out. he might even start a dictatorship. the government is taking control of the economy! revolt!:D democracy will survive in the americas! lol..

Wait, Dewey, a socialist? Oh, I see, you're using humorous sarcasm by tying it to the modern day. It's so fortunate that the Internet (which is a series of tubes), has emoticons. :D

No, we're not diving into the state-capitalism/OMG SOCIALISM IS DICTATORSHIP bullcrap if anyone thinks that was our intention. We don't go there man, we just don't go there :p. We just wanted an evil US so, here it is!

(mostly because we were fed up with the infinite good guy role the US allways plays in every film/movie/AAR/book/article. Go go fascism! :D)

It's all 'moderately' effective, but let's not delve any deeper into Belgian regionalistic politics, I can assure you, they will bore you to death :p. Over here, people just stopped caring tbh

On another note, the new AGK is out guys! Has some neat new stuff like Tuore's tutorial, soft grunge and vintage photo edits, check out the DL link in the latest post

CHAPTER XIX: SEAS OF FREEDOM

The US had successfully deployed it’s new ship type: the lightweight missile corvette. A small ship capable of quickly outflanking an enemy fleet, the Presidential-Class was equipped with highly advanced guiding equipment and capable of delivering a storm of armour-piercing missiles to Pact ships. As most Pact carriers had little to no armour on their flight decks, the missiles quickly pierced through and were easily capable of destroying the carrier’s ammunition bays, resulting in volatile explosions which, in most cases, annihilated the carrier altogether US dominance over the North-Atlantic was complete.

After the news had spread of the death of Grand Admiral Sommerville, De Nil travelled to Berlin, where an emergency summit was called of the Channel Pact North-Atlantic Command.

The following events took place June 28th, 1946, Berlin, Germany

Even though a warm, humid weather had beset upon Berlin, the atmosphere within the Military Academy was as grim as it could be. Grand Admiral De Nil put down his pen, and stared at the other Grand Admirals in the room. He could not help but notice that several seats remained vacant. The Channel Pact had lost many admirals in the North-Atlantic. Too many...
Most notably was the absence of Grand Admiral Sommerville. De Nil had large difficulties to keep his cool, at a time when he felt like shouting and ordering the execution of some random American prisoners. Those bastards. With Sommerville gone, the Empire had not only lost her second-in-command, but one of the finest Admirals to ever sail the seven seas as well. The grim numbers were in: The Atlantic War had cost the Channel pact 68% of her fleet capacity, 85% of her carriers, two thirds of her merchant fleet. The Newfoundland Garrison did not receive new ammunition and reinforcements last week, nor would they this week. Or the week after. Or anytime. De Nil sighed and stood up.

“This is the situation as it is. Our supply efficiency is down to 30% for everything that is not supplied by land. Our Spanish ports are ravaged and no longer capable of holding war fleets We cannot supply Newfoundland, nor field a fleet to protect it. Bermuda will fall out of supply as well, it is only a matter of time.”
Field Marshall Van Geyte, who was also attending, stopped reading reports and slammed his fist on the table.
“Send everything. Send everything we have!”
The men stared at each other for a while, but De Nil responded with a broken sigh.
“We can’t. There is no more ‘everything’. What we lost in the last battles, that was everything we had.”
The Field Marshall was stunned.
“So... it is done?”
De Nil nodded “We have been defeated.”
In shock, The Field Marshall stared at the sink numbers. The Channel pact had lost the war for the Atlantic.

The UK’s Industrial Capacity, hampered by lack of a sufficient merchant fleet

The men in the room did not know what to say, and stared at the table in silence. In the distance, De Nil could hear construction machines working on the rebuilding of the Academy. He took the word.
“Defeat is not something we are accustomed with, admirals. Yet it is something we will have to learn to face. The war for the Atlantic is over, yes. We have lost. The question is now, what do we do?”
“Retreat.” Donitz was the only one to respond.
Retreat. The one thing Pact leaders had never anticipated.
Van Geyte collected himself and stood up.
“We retreat. Call back all fleets to Europe. Scramble as much as we can. Send the RAF to keep our own shores safe.”
De Nil nodded “Agreed. I have one small CTF left in the Pacific, and the Grand Fleet in the Atlantic. The Grand Fleet will be sent to Oslo, it can defend the Channel from a Norwegian port.”

“And Paget?”
“Order him to hold the island as long as he can. We might just be able to stall the American onslaught.”
“You know that, without supplies, he’ll fall eventually.”
“Yes.” De Nil drew a sour expression “But we all have to make sacrifices.”
Van Geyte nodded.
“Order the retreat. Meeting adjourned.”
The men rose up from their chairs, and left the room, leaving behind a world map with a discomfortingly small amount of grey and pink pawns left.

The retreat from the North-Atlantic was enacted almost immediately after the emergency meeting of the Head Command. The next few days, hundreds of Pact ships disembarked from their island ports and returned to Europe, where they were united in crude combat formations intended at keeping the shores of Europe safe. Paget and his Newfoundland garrison were ordered to stand ground and hold the island for as long as they could. The General was fully aware that this would mean certain doom, but still accepted the order. Newfoundland and Bermuda, now completely isolated and without supply, braced themselves for the inevitable US attack. They did not have to wait long.

My first language is french but... I'm Canadian, do you really need a native frenchman?

In order to test your level of Frenchness we'd have to find a German, give him a gun, put you two together and see if you flee first :p. J/K, just French-speaking is great. Quebecqois I presume? (Drop me a PM)

Also, still looking for Spanish hip-hop/r&b experts:p

MOSLEY IS BACK!

It seems you two built your empires on momentum.

That's pretty much my strategy throughout all my games, once you get the ball rolling...well, think Albanian Empire.

When the ball stops though...

That picture of Mosley reminds me a bit of Freddie Mercury...:D

Sounds like you'd be giving poor Paget a 'victory or valhalla' order if this was AoD.

Surely if you abandon the Atlantic you'd be able to build up fleet again and keep you Eurasian + African shores safe?

Good luck against the American menace!
