Hi, is there an event or cheat code I can use to reduce revolt risk nation wide? I messed around with the party in power, a little too much, and now my whole nation is an angry red, and POPs are revolting left and right.

Any help, much appreciated.

PS "norevolts" has never worked for me.
oh, and I'm VIP revolutions.

Let your pops revolt. If it happens fast enough, you will keep all your territory. Only difference is with your government.

However, if you want the revolt risk to actually decrease without watching your government be overthrown, it helps to look at your angry pops and respond to what increases their militance. Often with worker pops their militance goes up if you have no social reforms, so it helps to get a cheap one and fund it all the way to increase trust in government, and from there, decrease conciousness, and from there, militance.

You can't directly reduce revolt risk (except through certain cultural techs that reduce revolt risk by 1, forgot which line of those they are), but militancy is the main causer of revolt grief.

Having a party in power that coincides with most of your population's ideological beliefs, social reforms (regardless of how funded they are) and plurality (high if you are democracy, as close to 0 as possible as a dictatorship) and low taxes all help reducing militancy a good deal. Stationing soldiers in a province will also reduce the militancy growth in the given province by .2.

However, if you recently added to your nation a province that is not a core and has non-national pops, then you're bound to get revolt risk in those provinces in the next ten years, even if their militancy is zero - the more non-national pops in absolute terms there are, the higher the risk will be (which is why it is utterly painful to annex China, British India, Japan, etc.)

Funding Crime Fighting fully will help reduce revolt risk as well.

Thanks for the tips, everyone, I was afraid I was just going to have to weather the storm.

I'm playing Prussia. I annexed Congress Poland, and was just dying to get some factories going there. So I put the Reactionaries into power (State Capitalism) and started building like crazy. Then I realized I couldnt promote any of those Polish POPs, so I put the Anarcho-Liberals into power.

What a mistake. The entire country is bright red, five or six revolutionary armies in existence at any time.

It started with the Konservatives in power, so I put em back in power, hoping to calm things down. Guess I'll just have to wait it out.

If I was to allow Universal suffrage, and Free Parties, and become a Democracy, will these POPs stfu? Or is it better to leave the "benevolent" monarchy in place, and allow things to progress naturally?

Depends on who is revolting. If it's the lower classes, it might help take some of the edge off their militancy.

However you'll piss off the upper classes, so you might end up just making more people angry will not getting the currently angry people to calm down.

Basically there is no magic bullet once you get POPs with high MIL and twitchy to revolt. You just have to do things that will lower militancy and then hold out til the POPs finally calm down.

ANd remember, the +/- rate of MIL growth shown on a POP's info screen is change per year.

One final thing to help increase the rate of MIL decline, if you can afford it. Taxes below 33% lower the rate of militancy growth by -0.005 per percent below 33. So a 20% tax rate will drop MIL for all POPs in that tax bracket by -0.065 per year (13% a 0.005 per %). Conversely, tariffs do NOT directly affect POP militancy (though it does affect their consciousness) so one thing you can try is to fund your state via tariffs more than taxes, which should help increase the rate at which your POPs will begin to calm down.

But as I said above, once the situation in a country reaches revolts, it's hard to put the genie back in the bottle.

What year is it?

You might just want to let the rebels take Petrograd and be done with it...
You just need to check the ideaologies of the revolters via the pop screen so you don't get a proliterian russia after 1848.

If you keep switching govs, people will keep being angry.

You could mitigate some of it, allow some voting rights, but leave in 'the right to ban' and your constitution will change to a constitutional monarchy, they will hold an eletion and things will probaly start to calm down.

Make sure when you give voting rights that the extremists are out of power (an anarical types) otherwise you get a dictatorship.

Put the Konsurvatives back in, allow landed or full sufferage (depending on how to go, full sufferage in prussia will bring the cons back into power normally) voting rights, keep right to ban, allow non socialist unions and state press, and within a year or so things should be ok.

DO NOT change the gov again after that!
