We have also added a pretty neat form of technology sharing, building units under licence. You can buy the right to build units from other countries at their technology and practical experience level but with your IC. When the unit is complete you gain that model type and name (until you upgrade it) and increases your own practical experience (which will assist your own research efforts in the future). This costs money but can be money well spent. Of course, these, as well as expeditionary forces retain the model & tech names of their origin, until upgraded.

Hmmm... i wonder if this licensing bit can help model Lend-Lease more realiatically...

Really? I'm sure they kept building older model tanks and weapons despite new variants being available. For example MP40s were built well into 1945, introduction of StG44 didn't replace their production completely. If it's to simplify things I understand, but would still like to know how this decision was made.

Let's put it this way...
You have 100 infantry divisions and you discover a new technology to enhance their soft attack value, such as new small arms weapons. You will still produce old weapons for a very long time to replace those lost in the field until you have upgraded all those 100 divisions.
If you assemble any new divisions these will simply be equipped with the latest technology (even if it's not entirely correct). This seems like a good abstraction of how things worked.

It's interesting while playing Australia and get their CA built by the UK :)

Splendid work!

Will this be available only for nations in the same alliance or could everyone trade from everyone provided they are not at war?

I assume that CAGs are also part of ships armament...

Something in the place of 'Capital Ship Main Armament' - 'Carriers CAG'
I hope Im wrong.

I believe a previous dev diary - last one or the one before - said that carriers now travel outside main battle fleets and actually have real aircraft.

Thats the worst part Ive heard so far...
It really makes me dissapointed - better PI says something about that...

they already did, in the first post....

Looks very good. Will be interesting to build different classes of ships and upgrade them. I can't make up my mind if I would like to see that for land and air too.

How will upgrading work for ships? For example upgrading AA?

Maybe. But those 2 DDs make me really sad:
- 1 CAG type
- probably no brigade swapping
- no production of older models
(Why Germany produced so many PzKfw IV?)

 Hmmm, I don't get this.....

F.e. when "battleship.3" is called Bismarck and "battleship.4" is called H-Class for flavour, when does it come to the switch between those?

....or do I have to give these names manually per gusto?

its called "Bismarck-Class +*" if its closest to battleship.3... "Bismarck-Class" if its exactly battleship.3

However with ships we have added the option to downgrade your ships for faster, cheaper building. Thus if those pesky submarines are massacring your convoys and you want to fire out some quick destroyers to help combat them, then you can. You can basically decide exactly which model to use for each technology affecting that kind of ship.

So, there is not frigates, corvettes or escort destroyer ? :eek:o

They said that Carriers are pretty useless in sea battles and that their CAG operates like regular air units. We know nothing about how the CAG relates to the carrier other than this. We do not know if the CAG are built as a component (hangar) or if it is built as a separate air unit.

So can you refit? Put your ship in a port for a certain period of time while components are upgraded?

From an earlier Dev Diary

"We have also scraped the naval attachment system all together and instead we have defined each individual technology to be upgradeable or not (surprisingly this is also fully modable). For ships it means you can partially upgrade old ships. If you build a ship its main gun armament is fixed for all time, however its anti-aircraft batteries are very much upgradeable. We feel this system sets up the right blend of newer ships being better than older ships without the old ships simply being useless."

They produced it because their factories were geared for that kind of tank.

The game would have not only track Armor Practical but a Practical value for each model (like Panzer IV Practical etc.). Too much for the computer too handle.

I said Note the division is still the smallest tactical unit and the land unit and its brigades are indivisible, but for technology purposes the brigades are distinct.

A division fights as one indivisible entity. They move as one indivisible entity.

What has that to do with how you reorganise them?
