Pagan Mecca, so wrong yet so right. Are Rome and Judea still Catholic and Sunni, respectively?

I dub you "The Scourge of God", in the form of a Republic and coming from the other direction and into Asia, but scourgey nonetheless

...the Byzantine Empire was defended by the Ottomans. Holy crap, that's awesome. :D

In fact, the Byzantine Empire was defended by the Ottomans (and vice versa) in real history a few times.

FEEDBACK

Teurlinx - I think I've nailed all the colonial powers now - oh except Denmark who might just escape.

aldriq - Busy period wasn't it :)

naggy - So true, just more evidence for all those threads that argue Native Americans are unplayable as this Iroquois game doesn't end in World Conquest.

EUROO7 - Probably, if only I understood what you just said.

demokratickid - You didn't think they'd get away did you?

Reingleif - I don't think Iroquois will ever be anyone's first choice for a World Conquest. I'd like to see unddu try it without his cavalry stacks

Lord Strange - Perhaps I should put you in charge of my search for a custom title :D

Kami - There's not that much more to come but there are still a few interesting things...

rapidem - I think I'll use that next time I'm in one of those pointless HR exercise things where I have to describe myself.

PrawnStar "Well I have been described as Scourgey as in the Scourge of God"

HR Muppet "I think we'll put that down as needing to work on social skills"

MagisterMundi - Unsuccessfully, was their heart in it ;)

Specialist290 - Mainly Iroquois soldiers unless this world is very different.

praxiteles - Shush, you'll upset the Byz fanboys ;)

History reflects human behaviour and motivation. As you rightly point out it's always more complex than first sight would suggest.

Enewald - Yep, no golden pillars so I guess that means no golden arches either

Let's hear it for Iroquois civilisation

Chapter Eighty

Caqueta converts – 30/09/1816

Peace with Bohemia – October 1816

eu3307.jpg

Bohemia is reduced to OPM status.

Peace with Milan – November 1816

eu3308.jpg

This is about as cheap a peace deal as Milan could get away with but it saves me a diplomat, which is what really matters.

Peace with the Ottoman Empire – November 1816

eu3309.jpg

This deal reduces the Ottomans to a few provinces in Anatolia, Greece and the Southern Balkans.

Days later Iroquois declares war on Gondwana, who are still guaranteed by the Timurids.

eu3310.jpg

This picture shows why I’m not really talking about the wars, 1.3 million against 5000, they’re hardly Spartans.

Peace with the Golden Horde – 1st December 1816

eu3311.jpg

This is another poor peace deal. However, Solikamsk is gained; one more game goal achieved not too many more to worry about but still too many to be achieved.

All is not lost as…

1st December Iroquois declares war on Ryazan, a Horde vassal. The Horde honours the call the very next day.

eu3312.jpg

February 1817 sees Iroquois declare war on Travancore, a two province minor in Southern India. This is just mopping up, once I’ve overran them they’ll hand over one of their provinces, all their cores and as much cash as they can scrape together.

April 1817 – I accept a peace offer from Mainz of cores and cash – I simply don’t have enough diplomats to annex all the remaining OPMs. A few days later I accept an offer from Travancore for their non capital province.

Iroquois declares war on the Pope – May 1817

eu3314.jpg

Guaranteed by Milan the Papacy is a useful target for grabbing more of Italy. While I’ve generally given up on annexing the minors I will make an exception for Rome.

St Thomas converts – 26th May 1817

Missionaries are still being sent even though my Diplomat Stadtholder is hopeless for conversions (Admin 3).

10th June 1817 Yemen send Iroquois a warning. What? Yemen has neighboured Iroquois for decades and now decides to warn us, bizarre. They are guaranteed by the Ottomans which for various reasons has been the cause of their survival.

Peace with the Golden Horde – August 1817

eu3315.jpg

This reduces Ryazan to an OPM in the event that the Horde doesn’t annex its vassal. I now also have access to the last uncolonised province. The Horde is three possibly four wars from annexation, I can use their guarantee on Tver and I suspect that they’ll be the faction I blow my stability on breaking a truce as they are guaranteed by the Timurids who are one more war after this one from OPM status.

War with Bosnia - October 1817

eu3316.jpg

Bosnia’s Ottoman overlord honours its commitment to its vassal and Yemen joins in as expected. It was at this point I realised that the troops bordering Yemen were actually a rebel control force from the Horn of Africa and might just struggle a bit as the regiments are Line Infantry, obsolete for generations.

Peace with the Papacy – January 1818

eu3317.jpg

The Conquest of Rome – 1st February 1818

eu3318.jpg

Currently I am at war with:

  • Milan – 100% Occupied
  • Timurid Empire and Gondwana – 100% Occupied
  • Ottoman Empire, Bosnia and Yemen – There are two Ottoman provinces left to fall; both are under siege with assaults due to start this very day

maybe a house rule of "never suggesting peace deals" could have slowed down your expansion in the beginning, but it could have spared you the diplomats that would be needed for a complete WC. On the other hand, a complete WC does not mean anything as of now, a game started with a hopeless new world country with the sole goal of survival is now just short of diplomats. This is no less than a WC with Iroquois.

I expect a religious conversion of Rome but it might be too late.
I also expect the colonization of that last Siberian province (I wonder why they put that one in).

It seems like Konstantiniyye will remain in Turkish hands. That's a good one for me even though all the sympath for the american indians. :D

Clearly the warning/guarantee system has to be re-worked to prevent abuse. Ironically, I suspect it was stepped up in IN to better protect the AI from expansionist players

Only strong multi-lateral alliances that grow around the BB rogue nation and are maintained until the threat is gone would have helped keeping Iroquois at bay.

The Audacity of Hope

An Iroquois IN AAR

The game is IN 3.1 Very Hard. All settings default except Lucky Nations to Random. Following on from my posts of surviving as Maya until 1821 someone asked if that was possible as Iroquois. I doubt it but all we have to fear is fear itself* so let’s try it and see what happens

The only goal is to survive as long as possible.

This will be a gameplay AAR so questions and comments are very welcome. I hope people can learn a little from this AAR. I also hope it will be shorter than For God's Sake!

* We should also fear annexation

You have come far. Well, I guess you survived long enough... To bad most of the other countries didn't.:D

FEEDBACK

Lord Strange Iroquois WC, I think I'll need to practice a lot more!

Oh really, you need soooo much more practice at this......

Or a coordinated warning of the BB nation ... getting 80 warnings on the 1 of january, would sure halt all bar the strongest nations... Another possibility is alliances with a purpose. ie. "Burgundy, Castille And France vows to declare war against Iroquis if one of them is in a war against them..."

And now for the conversion of Rome. And well done with regards to reaching Solikamsk!!

Past a specific size..... I don't think it would have made any differance if everyone declared war on him in one alliance.... It would be like waiting for your turn at anexation...

Bonus points if Rome converts before game end.

Hoh I made it before the end! Took me almost a week on multiple occasions to read it all

Will you spare Sweden or will the mighty Iroquois gobble them up as well?
