No. Don't get that to the developers. That would be disaster.

Disaster averted!

Having read the post properly I managed to stop Darth who was dutifully heading off on his bike in the snow to deliver my request. :)

We both agreed not to talk about it again. :eek:o

I don't understand some people's concerns.

Isn't it MORE historically flavoured to get..

A German Infantry Brigade with
- Mauser Karabiner Model 1898 (upgrading to 'Mauser Karabiner Kar 98k' (23%))
- Panzerfaust 30
- Maschinengewehr Modell 34 (upgrading to 'Maschinengewehr Modell 42' (2%))
etc

THAN

Infantry Division - Model 1941.

Sounds good to me :)

shockingly, I DO have a sense of irony. (unbelievable, ain´t it?)

oh, and if you call me Darth again I´ll get on my bike and track you down:)

Any chance Japan's tragically high pilot loss rate had anything to do with it?:honestquestion:

Only a part of it. Japan had a very poor training program, after their skillful pilots were gone, they had to relay on poorly trained pilots. The Luftwaffe had the same problems from 1944 onwards.

Or as Chuck Yeager said: "it's the man, not the machine"

But having superior planes should help a lot ;)

And for armoured and air units ?
Because we can't the politing of a brand new aircraft and fighting at the same.

Changing rifle or grenades, it's simple.

But a pilot can't learn to pilot a new brand and doing missions during the same period. When an air unit changes its planes, its pilots are tranformed on the new plane and after they return on the front with their new planes.

Why mix it up with the stinkin' enemy fighters if you don't have to? If you have fast as hell bombers, they don't need escort, nor maneuverability.
"The bombers will always get through." :D

This is true: ideally a unit's combat strength would be reduced while it was being upgraded.

However that's another level of micromanagement ...

As the Mosquito...or XB-70 :)

It's right...chossing the unit which will be send into an upgrading pool it's long...
Or it's the computer which choose the unit and during the transformation, these units are not available.

Then just allow upgrades for aircraft when they are on the ground, and not doing any missions.

Isn't that basically how HoI2 did it?

IIRC if they weren't performing mission at 0.00 hour

Correct, and this led to that all aircraft in Europe (that are flying around during the day) could upgrade just fine while doing missions. But in Asia or America this didn't work so well, or perhaps was working as intended.

I learn something :eek:o Thanks :D
But it's not realist...1 week, i learn to pilot a new plane, the next i participate in missions...
The best and the simplest way, it's a status which blocks an unit when its main combat material is being changed.

You could always take the view that this was a cunning move to represent the additional difficulty of moving spare aircraft parts long distances.

Or, you could say it's a bug. I know whihc side I'm on. ;)

Well we don't know how it will work in HoI3 but maybe 'upgrading' a unit will set its organisation to zero and then it slowly goes up again

Hm i was wondering could you make an all good tank with high speed, big firepower, tough armor and great reliability at the same time or is it always one instead of the other?!

well....strong armour + huge gun = very heavy = most certainly undermotorized = not high speed

(this is in reality, no in-game reference)
