Part XI

The Dead Shogun
The first philippine war in Japan was a great success, largely becuase of Japans own instability. The man behind this stabilty drop was Shogun Kurosawa, after he had initiated the persucation of Japans Christian minority he turned towards his own government in the search to gain more power for himself. When news reached Japan that a massive philippine fleet had been spoted outside of Ryukyu Kurosawa paniced, and in doing so he revealed his intentions for the nobles and the Emperor. The Emperor was not late to react, and so began Japans last civil war. This brief conflict lasted for only a couple of months in which the imperial forces crushed the Shoguns loyal samurais. Kurosawa was forced to commit seppuku, suicide, in the eyes of the Emperor and the nobles.

When this happened Japan could not fight a war and singed peace with the Philippines, this would however prove unfortunate for the japanese in the long run; now philippine armies could luanch a direct assult onto the japanese mainland. Twelve years later the second war begun, this beeing even more productive then the first.

Several of Japans most important provinces occuppied, but their main armry still lurks in the background (note that they have built two universities!)

Four pronvinces were gained

Religion In Japan
Japan, beeing mainly Shinto, had for a long time suppressed the Christian minority by enforcing a special tax on them and prohibiting them from building houses of worship aswell as spreading the Gospel. With the new presence of the Philippines this immediately stoped, and a new time of tolerance begun. In this tolerance the catholic missionaries could work freely, japanese and filipino alike joined together to share the good news of Christ with the japanese population. The minority grew and after decade or so there where more churces and chappels then any man could count in Setsuma and Hizen alone.

Japanese Christians helped speed up the conversion

Third Campaign In Japan
The first victory was strategic, the second important, but it was the third campaign that would finally destroy the japanese nation. Many historians simply count this war as the last on the japanese islands even though there actually were three more filipino-japanese wars before japan was completely annexed. With the Philippines experiencing a huge cultural, technological and economic exchange with the west Japan were destined to fall. The third war was the most bloody of them all, thousands of japanese died in the name of their "Divine Emperor". They fought hard to defend thier capital and the important trading stations in Settsu, the massive fortresses there were truly impressive. But even the most impressive of forts fall to peices with our brand new Chambered Demi Cannon imported from Austria.

All Japanese provinces occupied, all ships destryed and their army completely beaten

Even though the japanese still controlled territory they could never restore their nation, the Philippines got bussy in other places around asia but eventually annexed Japan about fifty years later.

Finally Japan is out of the way. On to Korea, then to Ming!

Well this is true only for infantry. Asian cavalry kicks europeans until very late. But the real tech advantage of the europeans disable it.
