Hello All. This is my first AAR and, as the title suggests, is about France in 1914. I am playing HOI2 v. 1.3b with the 1914 mod installed.

I am not trying for humor, but am just giving a precise account of my version of WWI. It will be on Hard/Aggressive and, since this is my first AAR, with the hope of starting a long one in a few months, will only go until the time that Germany falls.


First screenies come within a few hours.

More World War One AAR's great. I think that paradox should've had a version on the great war.
Though the 1914 mod itself is pretty good, but it does get dull and boring after the war ends.
I wish you luck.

Janurary 1914

my starting position.

I start ordering more infantry to use as cannon fodder.

Since I start in a crappy position, I'm rearranging my forces.

Time to start some research.

My starting diplomatic position.

Divisions are transferred from Africa to France.

The French Grand Fleet on maneuvers.

My starting position after I rearrange forces in February 1914.





I will play with no cheats and will let the Germans get into Northern France to make it harder.


I will update up to 3 times on Saturday and Sunday but school will get in the way of me posting that much during the week. Maybe expect 1-2 updates per workweek. I will also be able to post several times on Monday since it is a holiday in the U.S.


Note: this will be a fairly heavy screen shot aar.

I think that currently the German AI actually fails to move if you play one of the Entente powers. They mass on the Belgian border all right, but then fail to invade Belgium... unless, oddly, you play one of the Central Powers. You might have to take over Germany or Austria-Hungary for a week or two in August to cause the Germans to actually advance.

Gigalocus: That's why I am going to let the German's have some provinces when the war starts.


Helmold: There is a bug that gives the Germans 12 divisions in Brussels. When those troops get stuck there, the Germans start trying to get them out.

February-March 1914

It looks like the Chileans stood up to the mean and deplorable Ottoman Empire.

Sweden is having some internal troubles.

Russia, my closest ally, just had a governmental shake-up.

Due to recent rumors of war in Europe, 30,000 Colonial Troops from Indochina Prepare to be transferred to France.

The U.S. just declared war on Mexico*

45,000 troops end basic training and are handed rifles.

30,000 more troops are sent to France from Indochina

Northern France in the beginning of April.

*For those who haven't played this before, the US doesn't get into a shooting war with Mexico but just gets Veracruz until Pancho Villa and the Revolutionary Mexicans are defeated.

Maybe one more update tonight, not sure.

African troops are hurriedly transferred to France for 'summer maneuvers'.

More troops come off the assembly line.

15,000 more African troops are sent to France.

And ANOTHER batch of 15,000 African troops are sent to France.

Northern France in June 1914.

*For 21 years. Contract becomes null and void after Germany gains a certain amount of authoritarian slider adjustments and ruler's initials are AH. Do not confuse with Austria-Hungary. Agreement not accepted in Ethiopia, Spain, and China. Separate rules apply in said places.

Can't wait for the war to start. I must ask though, do you plan on putting troops in Besancon? Because unless the 1914 mod made it impossible for Germany to march there from Mulhouse (which is possible as 1914 does do that in someplaces) the Germans might try and take it.

Panzer6: Yes, the 1914 MOD does NOT allow you to enter Besquecan from Mulhouse.

June-July 1914+two days in August

Once again, (your probably tired of this) 15,000 more troops leave Africa.

Austria-Hungary's government is taking a tougher stance on Serbia.

I'm researching a new technology.

Unfortunately the Franz Ferdinand pics didn't work. Oh well.

Greece buys some Battleships

Italy leaves the Central Powers.

More troops end basic training and are handed rifles.

OMG this was totally unexpected.

The heathen swine of Germany have declared war on us. Le Marsielle, Le Marsielle, Le Marsielle, Le Marsielle.

Our new enemies have declared war on our humble neighbors Belgium and Luxembourg and are amassing on their border.

The Western Front:August 1914 also shown is what Im going to give up to the Germans to give them a head start (not including what they will forcefully take from me ).

Next time: A real shocker will happen (I'm not joking).
