Humans, Aliens, and the End of the World

Mod used- Mod 33

Scenario- 1938 (so that all of the nations are somewhat, but not very advanced)

Nation: Britain, so that I can easily build up a large alliance from the (relative) safety of my island.

Cheats- Have been used to set everything up, I used Alien attack 125, loaded up as the Aliens, used F12 freedom to make them National Socialist, then declared war on everyone. Then I just loaded up as Britain.

I will try not to use cheats until the situation becomes hopeless, which might not take long actually.

House rules- I will not take offensive action until the end of January 1939, to ensure that the aliens get a good foothold, I will not propose an alliance to anyone else until the end of December 1938, I can, however, accept alliance offers.

One thing before we begin, I'm not an expert at HOI2, I pretty much expect to loose, but it will be in style

September,1, 1938. A day that would change the world. Aliens had landed in Narvik, at first, most people thought that this was a spoof, much like the Radio broadcast of HG Well's War of the Worlds a few years ago, however, this time it was real.

Within hours, the government of Norway sent pleas of assistance out to the League of Nations
ScreenSave0-1.jpg

If the League of Nations had responded in force immediately, maybe there might have been a chance. It was not to be though, just as they had turned a blind eye to the expansion of Germany, Italy, and Japan, the League choose to wait and see how the situation with the aliens unfolded.

Some nations though, weren't as cautious.

Adolf Hitler of Nazi Germany immediately took advantage of the situation and spread it's influence across Europe, creating the 'Axis of Resistance' or Axis for short.

The first members were Germany, Romania, and Bulgaria, although soon later, Yugoslavia joined, over a month later, Greece entered. The Axis would expand as the Aliens became a greater threat.

Perhaps fearing the recent German expansion, Poland sought the protection of Britain and France, who after much deliberation, accepted Poland's offer of an alliance.

After the initial flurry of activity, everything surprisingly went back to relatively normal, in fact, the Sino- Japanese war continued in full force, even though the Spanish civil War concluded, it had nothing to do with the arrival of the Aliens.
ScreenSave5-1.jpg

The lack of action was due to the very slow expansion of the Alien forces, this was later attributed to bad weather, poor infrastructure, and the time it took for the Aliens to organize after landing.

By November, the British thought that it was sufficiently safe to send a carrier task force to observe the alien invaders, what the found startled them.

They had no way of telling what the aliens were doing, their technology was so advanced, that they had successfully concealed all information of their numbers. Even worse, the Aliens had developed a fleet, the British quickly withdrew upon it's arrival, not wanting to risk combating such a mysterious enemy yet.
ScreenSave7.jpg

Notice that at the same time, Iraq joined the Axis of Resistance

However, much larger shocks were about to come, shattering any illusions about the capabilities of these invaders forever.

I wonder, will world war 2 take place amidst this? Humanity would be screwed.

Wenis: Humanity might be doomed even if WW2 doesn't happen. I think (or hope) Germany being at war messes up the event chain, if it doesn't, I'll just say that Hitler had gone insane early.

Minarchist: Nope they won't, the alien attack cheat can only be used once per game, but don't worry, the rest of the world will still be having plenty of fun. ;)

orimazd: There have been a few AARs with aliens, but none of them were finished.

Wolf Of Norway: Yep, this is sure to be very interesting.

Ok, on with the AAR!
-----------------

The world was in shock, nobody could even imagine the scale of what had happened, entire cities were decimated in minutes, countless thousands had died, yet no one knew how.

The ruins of Berlin

Through the next few days, it was realized that the people near the blasts developed a horrible sickness, their hair fell out, they were far more likely to catch diseases , and in some cases, parts of their body fell of from decay.

Soon rumors spread, of how the alien bombs somehow spread disease that would slowly infect and kill everyone, Europe was enveloped in mass panic. These rumors proved baseless, the sickness didn't spread, and soon Scientists identified it as radiation sickness.

This only deepened the mystery, radiation sickness could be caused by exposure to unstable elements as well as prolonged exposure to X- rays, several theories had been put forward to the design of the bombs, but they didn't explain their raw power.

Perhaps these stories prompted more action from the many nations, for mere days after these deadly blasts had devastated cities across Europe, another nation, Turkey, asked for an alliance with the United Kingdom and France.
ScreenSave16-1.jpg

However, good news was overwhelmed by the bad, the aliens had secured their foothold on the planet and had begun expanding, the people near the front lines fled desperately. Many were crushed to death in an attempt to flee the alien advance. Soldiers tried to impose order, but that proved impossible because one, the people ignored the soldiers even if it meant being shot on sight, and two, it soon became clear that fighting the enemy was more important.

In addition, Japan and China showed no intention of stopping their war, despite renewed international protests, the 2nd Sino- Japanese war continued as Japan overwhelmed Mao Zedong's communist china.
ScreenSave14.jpg

By now, the Prime Minister had realized that he had no choice but to act, yet he figured that Britain could not take on such an enemy alone and without coordinated help.

The result was the United Nations.

ScreenSave4-1.jpg

It was actually the idea of Franklin D. Roosevelt, who had already contacted Chamberlain about such an organization soon after the aliens had landed, at the time, Chamberlain had been closed to any such idea, but now the situation was completely different.

The signature members were the United Kingdom, France, the United States, Belgium, Portugal, Canada, South Africa, Oman, Bhutan, Nepal, Poland, Turkey, Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, and Liberia. Many other nations would join in time.

The signature members of the UN

In addition, Britain sent feelers out to many other nations including Spain, the Netherlands, Norway, Luxumburg, Sweden and many Latin American nations, nations that the UK held in high priority.

But would it be enough?

Do you know what the cheat is?
Yes, when you go into the game, press F12 which will make a console appear.

Type in alienattack and then the province ID # of the province you want the aliens to land.

For example, to get them to land in Narvik, type in alienattack 125.

trekaddict: I don't think things will be that easy... but I'll try ;)

Skarion: I was actually thinking of that song when I came up with the title.

orimazd: Ships spawn if they land on a coastal province, since they landed in Narvik, they'll have a very powerful navy.

These are a few of the cities that were nuked in the next few months of the invasion. Unfortunately, if we could not list every city that was devastated due to practical concerns.

The nuclear holocaust was accompanied by more alien expansion, the most important loss was an alien spearhead that reached to Baltic through the province of Lulea

ScreenSave10.jpg

In February, the British started research into jet technology. Neville Chamberlain hoped that it would eventually make the RAF able to combat the alien air and space craft.

Scientists warned though, that it would be years before they would be able to implement these bold new ideas in practice.

ScreenSave6.jpg

The international exchange of technology and equipment between nations increased dramatically in the months following the invasion.

It was not just in countries that were members of a certain alliance, trade increased between nearly all nations, even between members of the Axis of Resistance and the United Nations.

ScreenSave5th.jpg

Early in April the large exporter of oil, Venezuela, joined the UN.

At around the same time, Sinkiang joined the Axis, to which Neville Chamberlain responded "Where's Sinkiang?"
ScreenSave6th.jpg

Indeed, it was more of a symbolic declaration than a practical one, Sinkiang was a central Chinese warlord with no way to possibly help Germany.

ScreenSave4-2.jpg

Members of the UN weren't spared from the deadly strikes from above, as demonstrated when Warsaw, the capital of Poland, was leveled by another one of the mysterious bombs.

1screensave.jpg

To make matters worse, an experimental carrier strike on Narvik ended in disaster as the British discover exactly how powerful the Alien fleet is.

Nevertheless, plans were being put into motion by Allied generals. Soon, very soon, the aliens would get a taste of what they should expect from these earthlings.
GermanInfantry1914.jpg

Allied generals would employ a 'hold at all costs' strategy. They hoped to delay the aliens long enough for better technologies to be developed at home.

Whats the point of playing Mod33 with the Alien attack feature and the '38 scenario?

There is already a very good 'War of the Worlds' scenario involving aliens included in mod33.

And the 'original' scenario (36, 38, 39, 41, etc) should never be played with mod 33, because they don't have the mod33 events and thus the whole changed combat mechanic and event system thing becomes null.

I can only but say

What the fuss... :D  :D
