A very interesting reading. Here I join.

I certainly do like your style of writing!
It is very good to read and the story is well told! :)

Wow, you're an updating machine ... two more updates since I last checked in ... great job!

From my perspective, you are doing well unfolding the action through the general's eyes ... one of the reasons that drew me into your AAR.

I'm also curious to see how the WIF mod will challenge Japan in its invasion of China ... looking forward to your next update.

Japan
- A whole lot of nothing -

War in India made Tea a very expensive commodity, still he was Yuri Spetaculov, there were little things he could not do, and drinking tea was not one of those things.

"On the first of January there was little things on the news besides the nationalization of one more company in Japan, the only private companies were the American ones and those already were starting to leave the country, they seem to think that they would soon be nationalized too.*

Besides that, a very big energy and oil trades had been negotiated, the army would have less supplies, but Japan would have a bigger stockpile, it was not an happy move, but the generals did not made much noise.

The Snow was some feet high when in Ghangde a Grand Council Meeting Happened

30944759zs1.jpg

On February 2nd the last Infantry division had landed in Manchuria and now the Global Strategy would be showed to the low rank generals like myself.

The first one to talk was the Chief of the Army Satoru, «Gentleman, what you are about to see is of the most secrecy and if this information goes into enemy hands many Japanese lives will be lost.»

47429424lb7.jpg

The Chief of the Navy Osumi Mine continued «What you are seeing is the Strategical Map of China, the Green Dots are the Strategical sites that only if we control all of them can we make the Chinese surrender.

The Red Dots are the biggest Industrial sites of China** those should be our first priority, for two reasons, first we will deny them the industrial and because we may use them to our own advantage.
Finally the Blue Dots are the Areas were we can make an amphibious landing, even if we now don't have an specialized infantry Corps, we might use that to our advantage.
The Yellow line is composed of Japanese Submarines that will blockade any trade coming into China.
The Yellow Force, is our Reserve force that will only scout the coasts, the Blue Force is Yammamoto's Battleships, with our new Escort Carrier that will give support to your land battles.
We have believe the Chinese will not dare to use their Navy against us, still we have our Carriers ready to advance if needed.»

93173028ow6.jpg

«Everything besides the Blue Force shall go to Taiwan until we are at war with the Koumintang, we will not waste precious oil when we don't need it.»

The Chief of the Army continued «Thank you, now I will continue, the first step towards the full conquest of China will be the warloards of Shanxi, they control the historical Capital of China Beijing and an important Industrial site, besides that, there is the obvious reason that they are the closest to Manchuria, after that we will go into the Mountains and destroy the Chinese Communists, before they have time to dig into the mountains»

«We don't have reasons to believe the Koumintang will support those Two, still we must be ready for some kind of counter-attack. Even if such Counter-Attack happens we believe it will be a small one and they will quickly sign a cease-fire. We will take some time to pacify that area and in 1939 we might Attack them. One thing is sure, if they want to fight and they make us invade Koumintang space we will go all the way!»

Everyone cheered the Chief of Army

The he continued «The plans I, the other Chiefs of the Armed Forces and Generals Higashihuni, Hata and Terauchi H. is this one.» He took an other Map to show us all.

74432594sw7.jpg

«As you can see the Cavalry Units will make an encirclement movement with the support of other infantry units, then when the encirclement of Beijing is made Artillery Corps 3 will advance into the city with the help of the Cavalry Divisions that shall support the attack from the south.
While this happen Lt. General Spetaculov shall advance as quick as he can towards Capital of the warlord and be prepared to go into Communist Territory. In a simultaneous movement Artillery Corps 1, 2 and 4 shall take positions north of the River, there they will be prepared to a counter-attack by Koumintang.
Then when all of Shanxi is overrun we shall use all Infantry Corps in a Mountain Assault against Mao and his rebels.
I hope in 3 months after the first attack we will be in peace again.
Any questions?»

I was the first to stand up and speak «Honorable Chief of Army I thank you for the Honor of being the one who leads the assault against the Communists, but I would like to ask you, when will we attack?»

Satoru replied «You don't need to thank me, you have the Imperial Engineering Corps under your command that is why you will lead the attack, and we will attack when the first Snows start to Melt.
Any more questions?»

More questions were asked and more questions were answered, but I already need what I needed to know.

*I moved 1 towards Central Planning

@Yumo Admiral Yamamot, thanks it always makes me happy to know you are liking the story
@Maj. von Mauser, I don't know if it's true that the Japanese Armed forces were so outdated but I'm sure that is a good reason not to attack right from the start
@Enewald, well in my test game I never ended the Chinese Campaign, let us hope this time I can do better ;)
@MacDunne, I try to be :p and WiF makes the game much more difficult, you can already see that Nat China have at least 3Divs in each beach...

Nice update, form what I understand you won't be making a DOW on Nationalist China? Just the Yunnan and Red Cliques?

As always, a great read. :)

As always, a great read. :)

Looks like the idea is not to wait for the Marco Polo event, but to strike against these two in spring; ala divide and conquer.

Curious to see if this can be pulled off; especially vs the Communists in the mountains, before N. Chinese and the other warlords coming rushing in to the rescue of their bretherns.

Agree with Mauser ... another great read. Appreciated the screen shots, gave a very good overview on the coming action.

Looking forward to the next update :D

The first step of this quite ambitious enterprise sounds "easy" to achieve. We shall see what comes next.

A post
not an update

Well, so it seems that if I DOW Shanxi Nat China automatically annexes all the other Chinese warlords. This makes my job MUCH difficult and will make me save and reload a lot.

So I will take that event out and use the one in Vanilla.

That means I will have to mod a little, that means my update will take a bit longer.

The explanation for this is, for this AAR to go as I plan, I must not be bogged down in China, after this "cheat" with Japan I hope I never need to do it again.

We understand.

China's situation is represented poorly by all the mods, including CCIP imho.

Good luck though.

Japan
- A preview of: Going West-

Kolchak.jpg

Yuri had a writer's block. He did not know how to write the start of the war in China, so he decided to advance two years into the future,

"The war in China ended, even if there were still major Chinese armed forces in the mountains to the west and even if a Japanese man could not walk freely without an armed escort in China, even if the supply and communication lines in all of China were in costant attack by the resistence, «we won the war» published the Newspapers.

The chiefs of staff and the people back in Japan were already thinking about other wars against other countries. That country would not be the Soviet Union, that was for sure, if it was the Soviet Union why should Japan build more battleships? I was sure they would attack the Entente, or as they know call them selfs the Allies.

The porpose of comming to Japan, in the end, did not have any meaning as I would not avenge my brothers against the Bolsheviks.

But not achieving my main objective of destroying the Soviet Union that was not the only reason that made me leave Japan.
Since the Nanjing Massacre I was becoming a Persona-no-grata, the Japanese never liked me, but I proved myself on the battlefield and I earned all the Stars I now have on my shoulder, but still they did not like me.
And after I publicly criticized that attack, they tried to send me away, but I was on the front-lines, winning battles and had loyal troops.

But when the war was officialy over I was ordered to retire, but I would not go back to my bit manor in japan, I would go to Europe.

They sent me to Italy as a way to assure Japan was 100% behind the anti-commitern pact, I was sent to Italy to help train the un-prepared italian troops for the wars that would soon come to Europe and Africa.
"

First I had a problem with the Events, now I have a problem with my computer, I hope today I will post a gameplay update. Until then, I give you a little preview, I hope you like it ;)

@Enewald the blockade could help, I at least hope so.
@Maj. von Mauser I will attack just Shanxi and Communist China, yes
@MacDunne, I will divede and conquer yes and I will delay the attack by Nat China, I hope, by this post you understand why ;)
@Kurt_Steiner Without the WiF events it's easy yes, with it, I can not do it before the Magic day ;)

Nice update.

Glad to know Italy will be seeing some victories.

Japan
- The first step -

The block was passed and Yuri started wrighting again

"The last snows on mountains of Ya'an melt on March 20 and when that happened Chief of Army Satoro nominated General Hata the supreme commander of all Japanese Imperial Army in Operation Mongol, the invasion of the Warlords of Shanxi and the Communist partisans in the Montains of Ya'an.

93255051yi1.jpg

On March 30 Yamamoto set sail and pointed his guns towards Shanxi. On April first we received our orders. At noon more then half a million imperial soldiers moved into Shanxi's warlord territory,

76751217gl2.jpg

This first battle was almost as easy as the first battles of the Manchurian Campaign 6 years ago, they had just 5 divisions on the battlefield and they were both demoralized and not ready. In less then 30 hours we defeated them and so I moved to my pre-planned position.

21281019um1.jpg

It seemed impossible that we would already be low on fuel, but the Japanese Imperial Army was not known for his good logistics.

The siege of Beijing happened as planned and from a distance I could hear the Artillery destroying the ancient Chinese imperial capital

14144917rt1.jpg

The badly planned Logistics continued, as January 8th we received news that all of the Manchurian Army would be moved to attack China, this would make very difficult to supply all our troops, and our transport capacity was half of what it should be. Those troops were ordered to move towards the Communist Mountains.

I arrived at Taiyuan on April 27th, I entered the city after my troops Stormed the Shanxi's fortress. I was with General Hata who commanded the Kwantung HQ, the leader of the Center offensive.

We both entered the Tent were we would meet Yan Xishan the leader of the Shanxi's troops, he was there with his top generals and top advisers, General Hata entered, pushed a chair and seat down «I am here to offer you our surrender conditions. They are simply, you must stop all military actions against the empire of Japan, you must surrender all your Material to the Imperial Armed Forces of Japan and you and your advisers will be sent to Japan to stand trial for your actions against the True overlord of China, the Japanese Emperor Hirohito»

58772582ox9.jpg

Yan Xinshan Stood up and spoke «I dispise you and your emperor, we will not surrender for our brothers lead by Chiang Kai-shek are already on their way to destroy you and Mao is already coming from the Mountains to kill you all!» That was when General Hata took his revolver and asked «Who is the second in command?» there was silence in the room, he pointed to a small, old man with glasses «Are you the second in command?» the man in a very shy way said «No» and General Hata pulled the trigger.
«I ask again who is the second in command?» A man, Qu Yangke, the minister of security stood up. I was sure Hata already who was the second in command still he asked and killed that poor man «So, you are the second in command. Will you accept my surrender conditions?» the man looked to Yan Xishan as he did not know what to do.
Those seconds looked like hours for the Chinese people in that room, one could smell the fear.
«Yes» he said. That was the magic word, general Hata pulled the trigger again and Yan Xinshen was on the ground «Very well, you will sign this conditions and order your troops to stop fighting, after this...»

After that I left the Tent, I had enough of this uncivilized ways, I was born in a poor village in Crimea but I learned much from General Wrangel and killing a nation's representative was not one of them.

47523001kw5.jpg

Just on April 29th The last Shanxi Strong point was taken, even if Qu Yangke signed the surrender treaty the Chinese continued to fight, this was probably the sign of things to come.
"

It seems only you, Maj. von Mauser liked my preview!

Now I see why our Russian general wanted to change sides. Not because of the landscape, so to say...

What a horrible thing to do...... Hata should be tried for treason.

Nice update either way, I take it Shanxi offered almost no resistance?

I take it I sent you the right files?

Another fine read. General Hata's treachery gives a glimpse of why the Chinese are so stauchly resisting their Japanese occupiers as mentioned in your Preview.

Time for Yuri to make his way to Italy ... will be interesting to see his impact there and to get a picture of whats going on in the European front.
