We need to put pressure on dissidents! Those slimy, duplicitous foreign mercenaries stealthily slithering in the dark, sabotaging the great accomplishments of the Revolution, stealing the wealth of the people with their grubby, clawed hands and spreading the foulest lies and slander, scurrying about like disgusting cockroaches I hate them hatehatehatehatehatehatehatehatehate... Khm, yes, sorry. One vote for closed society. :D

No, I meant vote on how I'll use this year's domestic policy move.

D'oh!

Central Planning, that's my vote!

Remei Rodoreda votes for : We need a more professional military. (Standing Army)

Remei Rodoreda said:
Since the liberation of Catalonia, Iberists have been trying to reconquer Catalonia. Although the people are on our side, and I believe that they will devote everything to the realisation of socialism. However, to defend our faith, we have to utilise everything the people give us.
I am not an expert of military, but a professional, well-trained military force will be more effective than a draft army. Also, with a professional army always ready for operation, others will not need to be drafted as soldiers, as they will need when our army is mostly drafted. That means the negative effects of war will be reduced, as more martyrs will at least be prepared for the sacrifice when they enlisted. Without a doubt, the burden of the people will be eased when we have a more professional military.

Ok, Ok. Since we're so small, so strained for manpower, and otherwise in a tough position, we're going to have to have the best troops we can get. I'm going to throw my support to the Professional Military. My first choice would have been Hawk Lobby, but that wouldn't break any ties. So I'll have to go with Standing Army.

*On a side note, I'm sorry I'm in so late here, I didn't realize you were using a different thread to actually write the AAR. My bad.

What, is this like a SubscribAAR or something?

How do I get to be a minister?

Might've been a good idea to link here from the previous thread...

We need to put pressure on dissidents! (Closed Society) (1)
- Ramon Marín i Bobé

We need to control more of our industries. (Central Planning) (3)
- Joaquim Casanova
- Pontus von Hääfe
- Ramon Marín i Bobé

Erm, slight problem. You gave Ramón two votes.

He should properly have 4, one for each of the voices in his head. :D

Maybe once they attain corporeal forms of their own we can give them some sort of representation. :p

Update will probably come today. Tomorrow if I fail to deliver. Sorry about any wait, it's summer, school ended about a week ago and I don't feel like doing anything. :(

Baby Steps
January 1st, 1936 though February 2nd, 1936

The results of the minister vote came in, and Casanova, despite his desire to round up more industries under government control, agreed to decrease conscription.

He then asked Foreign Minister Rossco to briefly describe the diplomatic situation:

ScreenSave25.jpg
ScreenSave21.jpg
ScreenSave20.jpg

"Our comrades in the USSR are interested in us, and securing a full alliance in the future may not be too hard. The scumbags running the UK and Celtic Union dislike us, but the ones running France are fairly friendly to us. As much as I don't like it, I suspect this will come in handy as it gives us some breathing room."
ScreenSave9.jpg

"Our independence is guaranteed by France and Italy. This may, in fact, be out of fear of the Iberists aligning themselves with Germany. However, the Italians have been getting close with the Germans, so I hav eno idea how this will play out. Hopefully, they rip each other to shreds."
ScreenSave27.jpg

"We have also received a goodwill letter from Ukraine. I've all but dismissed it, however, as they broke away from the USSR, so we've no need of their friendship. That is all."

"Thank you, Comrade Rossco. That concludes this meeting. Everyone is free to go, except I need Comrades Polkov, Drago, and Rodoreda to stay for a bit.", with that, almost everyone filed out of the Parliament building turned Party Congregation center. The Chiefs of Navy, the Air Force, and security remained, as requested.

"OK, first off, Comrade Rodoreda, I want the Conselleria de Segureta to begin work on new ways to improve our industry's efficiency and thus, output. Can your department do this?"

"We'll try our best."
ScreenSave18.jpg

"Good, you are free to go now. Thank you. Now, onto you 2. I would like to know what sort of doctrine your respective branches would like to follow. Though our thinking is backwards, it means we can pursue whatever we want when thinking forward. You don't have to tell me now, we cannot support anymore projects. Feel free to tell me anytime, but preferably before a war breaks out. With that, you both are free to go now.", and the 3 left. Premier Casanova headed back to the Palau. Once back in the safety of his office, he went onto manage the country. Like he always does. Almost.
ScreenSave19.jpg

New industrial complexes were ordered in the Barcelona area and in the Pyrenees near Huesca. Since the whole country short of Barcelona laid open to attack, Casanova figured the mountainous region would be hardest to take."

A few days later, something miraculous happened. Production was up throughout the nation. Industry produced more, more resources were extracted. However, people seemed to get more restless...

I seem to have run into a beneficial bug in the scenario. I got an event labelled 'AI_EVENT', the description was 'ai_event', and the only option i could choose gave me 6 offmap IC, some offmap resources, and dissent. I'm pretty sure this event is meant for countries without IC, but I'm just going to go with it. I need all the help I can get. :D
----
ScreenSave26.jpg

Progress on the factories was slowed as the government worked to quell this unrest. Calls were made to the Conselleria de Segureta. In the process, Casanova discovered he could now support another research project. So he called up Fabrica d'Armes Montsolís, and requested research into newer infantry weapons and tactics. Not to mention military police.
ScreenSave23.jpg

They might be able to make a stand yet.

robou and Rudie, do tell me which doctrine you'd like me to focus on if we ever get around to it. :)

Excellent. I don't know a whole lot about the mod, but that event occurs for a lot of countries, particularly ones that have almost no chance of existing under historical circumstances. I can think of Indochina, Somalia, and Mengukuo as one that did exist, but wouldn't have played any sort of role with 1 Base IC.

Anyway, great update, I have to explore this mod though, as I'm not really sure of the world's political situation in anything but Kaisereich and Vanilla Doomsday 1936. Just one question, since I'm not so familiar with the mod. Is the regular event chain still intact? France, the UK, USSR, and Germany appear to have the same HOG/S, so I'm trying to figure it out.

All vanilla events will still function. So there will still be a war and all. Just a very 'gimped' one, since there's no Austria, UK is missing a lot of land, USA is weak, and France and Italy have a bit less IC. I can post big helpful maps if you'd like. Because dictating foreign policy is actually quite difficult if you aren't aware of the geopolitical situation. ;) :p

btw, might wanna block out the backwards swatstikas in the background, even though they mean something different facing that way.

Nice update, glad to see you got that next TT slot. An excellent occurance.
